Rate this book
Bestselling author of Choosing Happiness shows how to tackle the pressures of the modern world, providing the insights, reassurance and means to worry far less and enjoy our lives more.

Virtually every moment of our greatest wellbeing reflects the giving and receiving of kindness.

At home, work and in the wider world, there are countless opportunities when a moment of consideration or kindness - given or received - will transform your day. Whether it is a hard time to be endured, or a wonderful time to be shared and celebrated, it's our willingness to think well of ourselves and act kindly towards others that makes all the difference.

In this intimate, deeply reassuring book, Choosing Happiness author Dr Stephanie Dowrick takes kindness as her inspiration and theme. And she does so in ways that are powerfully encouraging.

Whether she is writing about food or moods, about growing in self-confidence and appreciation, teaching resilience to our children or ourselves, making the best choices to support our physical and emotional wellbeing, the pleasures and dilemmas of contemporary work, parenting, friendship and love, or even how to improve or save our closest relationships - Stephanie Dowrick is making a calmer, happier and more rewarding life immediately possible.

I thought this may be inspiring with tales of kindness and how kindness changes people's lives. However there were almost no examples of this. Instead there were lots of affirmations of the kind that suggest that mother's milk is good for you.. Nothing new or inspiring for me.

Such a beautiful book - I've read this twice now and always find new ideas and tips that I can use in my daily life.

A nourishing read.

I am loving this book, but then, I love nearly everything that Stephanie writes. As an experienced psychotherapist, she has a great understanding of the modern psyche and as a deeply spiritual person, she expresses a lovely sense of grace and love in her writing. I'm clearly a fan. As in her previous books, she has a clear and calm expressive style and her words are like a balm to heal anxiety and doubt. I think she is a very gifted spiritual writer. I'm only up to chapter 2, so I'll finish my review later.

Quiet, straight-forward, simple and encouraging wisdom for living. The short cuts named are really in the length of time each article takes to read - a few minutes of focus for each day, then go live it, come back in the evening and reflect on how it went.
