Description:
Laney Hill is screwed. On the bed. On the treadmill. On the hood of a BMW. And on her boss’s desk. Then she’s screwed again when she steps into the free clinic and finds out she has gonorrhea. That dirty prick gave her gonorrhea! She’s totally going to break up with him...until he breaks up with her...because he’s married!

A night out drinking with friends leads to a fateful--yet awkwardly-sloppy--kiss between her and her best friend George Bratton.

George has been single and pining for his ex-girlfriend ever since their breakup two years ago. When his ex invites him to her destination wedding in London, self-destructive George and gonorrhea survivor Laney make a deal to go as each other’s dates. It will make great material for Laney’s “Anti-Romance” blog and maybe it will help George finally get over his ex. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

Argh I'm gonna be a Debbie Downer here so take that as your warning.

I can't muster up enough enthusiasm to rant as I didn't really FEEL much of anything while reading this. Granted the writing wasn't bad infact I'd say it was good, that wasn't an issue for me.

But the characters blah - nothing stood out, I didn't feel any connection between Laney and her men, didn't even care that she was a bit of a slut who 'used' them; I use that word loosely as she did seem to actually care for most of them. Don't know why any of them wanted her as she was just one giant cluster fuck of a mess.

On top of that the humour didn't tickle me (I'm not even sure why people think this is funny) and everything felt rushed (though this is left on a cliffhanger so mores to come) and that scene with the itchy mary at the start- jeez.

This had so much potential but really it's like a used condom - soggy, easily disposed of and then forgotten.

As a born and bred Texan, I connected to the story instantly. I love Austin because of the music, food, and people. It's truly a one of a kind city, and Cassia dived into it perfectly.

description

Laney Hill is a blogger about romance. But instead of writing about happily ever afters, she posts about previous dates to prove that romance is dead. Her worst experience was getting an STI. Yet she still hopes that one day Mr. Right will come into her life.

Somehow she gets stuck in a position where two really nice guys are pining for her. One is her best friend, and the other is the sexy musician neighbor. I have to say no one writes steamy love scenes like Cassia Leo.... it gets pretty HOT!

Anti-Romance is a quick and funny read, full of awkward moments. This jaw dropping story is addicting, and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Who knew gonorrhea could be funny!

description

Straight up this ends in a cliffy and is a love triangle. Two things that usually make me want to stab someone in the eye with a spork.

description

Strangely enough, I wasn't overly bothered by these two things in this case. Well, that's not entirely true. I really wish book two was already out...sigh. I actually really liked this one. I found it pretty amusing. I liked the heroine, didn't love her. Laney comes across a little bit self centered I thought . But this is probably because I really liked both heroes. I kept flopping back and forth between Kade the sexy ass neighbor, and George the best friend. It was also nice to see a heroine who actually had a healthy sex life for a change.

"Since then, I’d plowed through more men than Al Capone’s tommy gun."

The sexy times are kind of tame, and the first time she is with kade is fade to black. I admit, I was expecting something with a little more HEAT. Although sexy talking Kade was pretty spicy.

"You sound like the little engine that couldn’t.” He slid his hand out of my pants and scooped me up in his arms. “I think it’s time you took a ride on the big engine that could."

The plot flowed nicely and I never felt the need to skim. By the end of the book I really still have no clear picture on who I want Laney to end up with. Trouble is a-coming though and I'll be onboard to see how this all plays out.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't avoid cliffhangers like my life depends on it, but I don't actively seek them out either. However, being a fan of Cassia Leo means I recognize that I will be reading cliffhangers often. Anti-Romance is no different, except that this time I was actually an angry blonde full of hatred. Not the kind of hatred that's real, but the kind where I kept trying to turn the page expecting more to come up and growing increasingly more frustrated, even though I knew about said cliffhanger before I even opened the book. Don't let my anger fool you into thinking I didn't like the book though, it's kind of the perfect cliffhanger, because I would throw all my money at Cassia to get the next book right now.

Filled with self-depreciating humor, hot smut, characters who are real, and a great playlist, Cassia Leo has done it again with Anti-Romance. Main character, Laney, is as relatable as they come, in fact I'm positive I have a romance hating friend just like her. She's witty, doesn't really have it all figured out, and she gets herself into quite the situations! I really loved being inside her head, because she wasn't some drop dead beauty with every ounce of confidence in the world, she constantly questioned things and felt the full scale of emotions by the time I finished the last chapter. Plus, she dates for work and is having lots of monkey sex, even if it does lead to gonorrhea. On top of Lainey, the secondary characters were awesome as well. George, the best friend, reminds me of someone I know, which is just a testament to how realistic this entire book is. Their friendship is not a unique one, but definitely didn't feel like anything I'd read before. Then there's neighbor, Kade, who I want to be my real life boyfriend, but I'll settle for adding him to my book boyfriend pile. Cassia does such a great job of giving every character, even those we just see a couple times, unique voices and personalities, making this book really come to life.

The twists in this book will leave you questioning everything, just like Laney you won't know what could possibly come next, but you'll also really enjoy the ride. I definitely stopped taking things at face value, but that made it all the more fun. It isn't a romance, that's for sure, but it's a humorous love story about a girl, her friends, and getting through some shockingly hilarious awkward moments. I have no idea what I want to see in the next book, but I can tell you I am desperate to find out what does. My reaction faces, gasps of surprise, and obvious feelings are exactly what I love about this book, I felt like I was right there. You'll probably say "oh my gosh" a few times, maybe even blush (I did), but you won't be able to put this book down.

Hysterical.
Thought provoking.
Interesting.
Dating. Murder. Mayhem.

All of these things describe Anti-Romance, which is exactly what the title says. If you want to fall in love with a happily ever after this isn't for you. But if you want to laugh so hard you pee on yourself while calling your BFF saying "Bitch, you have to read this stat", then jump on the train now. You'll be in for the ride if your life!

Plus, whoever thought politics could be so funny yet cutthroat?! This book is like a Where's Waldo? adventure for hide the penis. Can you find it? Is it where you thought?

Now, as I sit pondering what on earth just happened, I wonder...maybe it's time for some research of my own! Muah! ~ Heather, 4 stars

When I read - This is NOT a romance. This is a hilariously screwed-up love story. - I knew I needed to read it. And believe the words, this is a hilariously screwed-up kind of love story

I will admit I had a lot of fun reading it. Why? Because I was not expecting romance, I was expecting every unexpected situation that happen to us sometimes. The ones when you look back in time you just laugh. Because not every one has "Typicals" Happily ever after. Sometimes your life is not about CEO's or Rock Stars with a lot of money. Sometimes you are life is just a crazy and funny mess
Agree photo flawless_zps4a310668.gif
I was hooked from page one. The Characters? That was an emotional rollercoaster

Laney: She has some issues. I know, but who doesn't. She's complicated and funny. Deep inside a good person. I liked her a lot.
George: Laney's Best Friend. Adorable, handsome and will drive you crazy.
Kade:The Hot as sin neighbor. A mystery, a delicious mystery. You can't help but fall for him
I don't want to say much because I don't want to spoil this original story for you. I'm just going to say there are turns and twists, surprises that will give you a heart attack and sometimes there will be one or two characters you will want to slap.
Anti-Romance is LIVE NOW. Get your copy now and enjoy this not quite a love story. Have lots of fun with the cover because is hilarious and original

Cassia Leo delivered a fun, flirty, and finger to the world anti-romance. She made gonorrhea funny and slutty unfrowned upon. I found myself laughing hysterically and then confused and a tad bit grossed out at other parts. Because how can you get with a girl that you caught viciously scratching her cat in the hallway??

There's bits and twists in the story and I enjoyed every bit of it. I love the cover! I typically go into all the books I read blind, so I wasn't aware that there was a cliffy. I should probably do more research before I read a book, considering how much I dislike cliffhangers lol.

All in all, it was a fun read. Would definitely recommend to somebody who doesn't take shit so seriously and can take in that sometimes, some girls are sluts.

It pains me to rate this book one star. I've read everything this author has put out and I was excited to try something different. However, this book just did not work for me.

I can't decide if I was more put off by Laney's shenanigans or the political propaganda that peppered the pages. It was a gutsy move to incorporate political opinion into the story. It could easy have been left out of the story but I suspect it was purposely included.

I am not a huge fan of ROM-COMs. The ones I have enjoyed are filled with witty humor, classy retorts and methodical rebuttals. (Think Emma Chase) It's the crude and ignorant humor that just does not work for me and sadly this book had it in spades.

The writing was good but I never connected with these characters. I felt nothing and that is the part that disappoints me the most. Leo is known for putting out stories that tug on your heart but this one came up short for me.

There is some unresolved conflict in the end of this story that will wrap up in book 2. However, I won't be continuing with this series. While this book did not work for me, I am hopeful that future works from Leo will restore my faith in her writing.

I am really kind of ticked off at this book right now. Laney is a twat. She's selfish. I couldn't relate to her. And I really just wanted to kick her in her STI magical vagina. She has TWO guys - NICE guys - who accept her for who she is, and she's dicking them both around. I can't get on board with that. And normally I'm a cliffy junkie but this one just pissed me off.

Did I laugh a few times, yes? But all the fun was taken out of it for me with Laney's craptastic attitude. I hope both of the guys ditch her and she grows up a little.

Edit: side note, the best thing about this book were the doodles with hidden penis'.

Having read a lot of books by this author, it seemed almost a no brainer that I would pick this one up and dive straight in. Sure, it bears the name Anti Romance, which considering the sheer amount of romances I’ve been devouring as of late, should scare the crap out of me, but it’s Cassia so, again…no brainer.
This isn’t the Cassia that I know from the Shattered Hearts series, but really, she pretty much warns you of that right there in the blurb. And this version of Cassia, the way she takes an idea and runs with it that might not be the typical way to do things in the romance genre, well I loved it.
For me personally, this was a great read.
It was different and while it does seem to have some things that in the past, I haven’t really enjoyed in my reading, specifically, a love triangle, it was still enjoyable. The triangle didn’t bother me, though I will say that I have a very clear choice of the two men that have been placed before her and even though the blurb of this book doesn’t lend favorably to my choice, I’m still gonna hold out hope as I wait for book two.
The political aspect of this didn’t really spark my interest. Politics has never really been my thing, so I wasn’t jumping over joy for the political undertone here, but it wasn’t enough to deter me from reading. To deter me from enjoying.
Do I hate that it ended in a very cliff-hanger kind of way? Sure. But I suppose I had to learn the age old lesson of patience at one point in my life. So here goes my attempt at it.
Laney was fantastic as the main character of this tale. She was engaging, she was funny and I felt as though there were many layers to her. Ones that you see parts of in this but that I hope I get to see more of as the series progresses. What you see wasn’t entirely what you get with her. She was aware of her issues with letting people get close to her, but still attempting to shove it all down even though she had to know it wouldn’t work forever.
And when the dam finally did break…Wow. I felt for this girl. This girl that had a rough go of it and was just trying to get through the day to day. I felt the back and forth of her feelings for her best friend, the new paramour neighbor (who by the way, I LOVED) and everything in between.
I’m excited to see where Cassia takes this, and Laney next. I’m sure much like the first book, it will be as much of a crazy funny journey as this one was.

WTF?!?  What the heck kind of ending was that?!?!?!?  My head is spinning!  No warning of a cliffhanger anywhere!  Again, WTF?!?  I guess it could have been worse, but still, WTF?!?

.............Grrrr............

Okay, I'm calmer now.  This book was totally not what I expected based on the blurb.  It really is so much more.

Laney is pretty much going through the motions in her life after sleeping around with a "nasty" politician and getting jerked around by him!  She is dedicated to her blog regarding anti-romance and uses that to "call out" past boyfriends or flings whom have screwed up.  She will not write about these men while seeing them though, and only takes to her blog after the breakup.  She figures this way, once she finds "the one", she won't need the blog anymore and she just doesn't like to write about her relationships as they are proceeding....just in case.  I loved this scenario!

Lucky for Laney, she's got her best friend George.  I really loved George.....sigh.  And she gets lucky with a new neighbor, Kade.  I really loved Kade....sigh.  And then shit starts hitting the fan!  George is just a friend, right?  Kade could be more, right?  But, but, but.......ugh!!  I was torn between the two! AND THEN TO END THE BOOK THE WAY IT DID, HOLY FRIGGING CRAP!!!  I'm dying here!  Dying I tell ya!  Need Pro-Romance to come out yesterday!!!!  Boohoo Ms. Leo!  I can't even find a release date for it, but did find out the original release date was pushed back!

So, obviously this book has gotten me a little riled up, but that's okay, that's when you know you've got a good book in the way it has affected you!

I love a book that will have you hooked straight from the first few chapters, and this book definitely does that

The main character in this book is Laney, I loved her character, she was funny, sexy, smart and had some great come backs. She also writes a blog on romance or lets say Anti-Romance lol.

We also meet some other characters who play a big part in Laney's life.
George her best friend, Kade her neighbor all add something special to this book, and the more you read, the more you want to know about them.

There are a lot of twists and turns and you start to learn bits about these characters, you think you know whats going on and then bang, the author throws a curve ball and what you think you know goes right out the window.

The sex scenes are hot and in some parts had me laughing out loud, there is great chemistry will the characters and you cant help but fall in love with them. There are lots of omg moments, there are characters that you will love and some that you will dislike. This book had a little bit of everything and that is what makes it such a great read.

I also have to say that I am a huge fan of the cover of this book, its something different to what you normally see.

Laney Hill is a blogger that documents, mostly, if not all, her failed relationship to her subscriber. There are laugh out loud moments how Laney’s love life is going. And with this kind of “cliffy” the possibilities are endless. Will she fall in love with her best friend George, who told her that she’s worth loving? Or to her sexy next door neighbor Kade?

I did enjoy this quick read and I’ve already read The Shattered Series (which is included in this book) by this author, so I know how well she writes. Now we wait how this story will end. Not a standalone so prepare for a major cliffhanger.

I'll make it short and simple since iam out of town and the connection isn't so satisfying:

There is a woman who doesn't believe in love at all and doing a blog for the living. What blog? A blog about her failed-relationships with dozens of men she dated. She has a best friend who madly in love with her. A rock musician who happen to be her hot neighbour and is so interested in her. And, a broken ex-girlfriend of her bestfriend, the same best friend who loves her, who ran away from the altar, because she still in love with "the bestfriend".
So, who will she choose in the end?

P.s it's a series and end up with cliffhanger. So if you hate cliffhanger, just wait until book two come out!:)

This should get -12 Stars for ending in the middle of a paragraph\scene. I LOATHE that. I get cliff-hangers. But could we at least end the thought before ending? Bonus positive stars, though, for having a female character be the one out there playing the field, instead of the male character.

Cassia Leo has once again managed to blow me away with her talent and creativity. Anti-Romance is fresh, fun, and incredibly fierce, delivering humor, heat, and heart in one totally addictive package. Laney is undoubtedly one-of-a-kind, hooking me with her amusing cynicism and reeling me in with her intelligence, wit, and surprising emotional depth. Anti-Romance is a snarky and unpolished look at love and the ways in which it finds us even when we’re running screaming in the opposite direction. This story overflows with shameless innuendos and crude humor that had me smirking but it was the heart and soul that Cassia Leo so expertly infused throughout this novel that made it absolutely sparkle. Laney’s world is filled with vibrant characters that stole my heart in unexpected ways. I loved George and Kade and found myself totally torn between these two incredibly different men in Laney’s life. I’m dying to get my hands on the rest of Laney’s story to find out if romance will knock this non-believer off her feet.

To say that Laney is a hot mess would be an understatement. This character is blunt, unapologetic, and sometimes a total wench. Surrounded by a great group of people, she’s not exactly the best friend in the world and she definitely seems to view men as disposable objects with limited entertainment value. While it is these characteristics that made me laugh and roll my eyes, it was Laney’s surprising emotional depth that made it impossible not to connect with her. As the story progresses, Cassia Leo exposes pieces of this character that had my heart aching for Laney. Through her relationships with George and Kade, Laney slowly begins to unravel, revealing a personal history and series of events that explained the underlying hurt responsible for her view of romance. As Cassia Leo brought this book to a close, I could practically feel a shift in Laney’s world happening as she’s forced to face some harsh truths about herself and the men who care about her. I’m anxious to see where Cassia takes this character in the final piece of her journey.

Going into this story with no real clue as to what lay ahead made Laney’s journey that much more entertaining. From the first word to the last I was riveted, laughing, cringing, and grinning my way through this hilariously uncomfortable and surprisingly heartfelt story. Cassia Leo’s writing cast its spell, bringing to life the colorful personalities and crazy adventures of the characters. There was plenty of heat burning across the pages along with a rollercoaster of emotions I never saw coming. Only Cassia could write something so simultaneously scorching and amusingly un-sexy. Laney’s candor, biting wit, and cynical inner monologue made this character a train wreck I just couldn’t look away from while George and Kade brought out the thoughtful and feeling soul of both Laney and the overall novel. My mind is still reeling from all of the revelations contained within the final pages of this book. I can’t wait to see how Laney’s story ends!

This book grabbed me from the beginning. Right away I really liked Laney and her witty comebacks and smart mouth. I liked how she portrayed she was comfortable with herself as a woman but inside seemed to have the same insecurities most of us women do too. She also has some issues she really needs to get through. She writes and Anti-Romance blog under a different name. We meet a few key characters in this and see their feelings towards the real Laney. We meet George, her best friend, and you can see he truly cares for her. We meet Kade her sexy musician neighbor and we see her open up to him, like she hasn't with anyone but her best friend and her mother. We meet a few of her other friends that I think we will learn more about. I loved the way Cassia Leo made me feel like I was there hanging out. This book had me laughing and tearing up in parts cause I felt the hurt the characters were feeling. The twists in this book had me holding my breath to see what would happen next. I love Laney's character cause she is unpredictable and just keeps you wanting to read more to see what happens to her next and how she handles it. Grab this book....you will devour it. I cannot wait to get more Anti-Romance!!

Anti-Romance from Cassia Leo was a great 5 star read.
Romance, Humor, Hot Alpha,

“Laney always took a different lane, but we always arrived at the same place.”

We meet Laney Hill in a very hot and steamy moment right from the beginning. She is a writer who writes about her experience with men. Loved her humor.

Laney has a complicated life, will she ever let her guard down and find love? I really liked the musician Kade, can he break down Laney’s walls?
The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Cassia really pulls you into the story with her writing. There is plenty of hotness, humor and twists in this great read. We do have a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more. I’m very anxious to see how Laney’s story ends.

Definitely don’t start this book until you are at home and you can spend lots of time reading. You will not want to put it down until your done. I really like the idea of the colorable cover as well, great addition. A must read.

Laney girl has some serious issues! Normally I always have a side to take when someone is torn between two men. I'm not even sure if she is prepared to be with either guy because she has some issues to work out. However I have no clue which way I want her to go. I can say I'm scared for her to mess it up with either guy. I can't wait to see how this story turns out. Good luck to Laney to make things right.

Why can't there be no more stars?!?! This is like 6 at least!

Hooked by chapter one.

Laney does not believe in true love. She proves to herself by dating a series of guys who never work out. They always leave her with proof that romance does not exist.

How does Cassia always leave me wanting more? More Laney please now? I so could have been her after college. I can't wait to get the second half of Anti-Romance!

I really enjoyed this light quick read. It was funny and filled with really good down to earth characters however I was not impressed by the cliffhanger ending. If you write a good enough book I don't think a cliffhanger is necessary as people will want to read the next one anyway.
If your looking for a fun light read give this a go BUT remember there is a cliffhanger so if you don't like them wait till May until the second book comes out.

I couldn´t put it down and I really enjoyed reading it.
I loved the characters and the storyline was really great.
The only thing I didn´t like was the love triangle and that we still have no idea for which she will go in the end plus cliffhanger, so mean.
