Burying a child can be the hardest thing a mother can do. After the death of Jackie's son Miles, which was caused by her older daughter Mercy. Jackie does the unthinkable and turns to drugs. With a broken heart and lost soul. Jackie checks into rehab but ends up coming back home, with something more than she bargained for. They say God gives his strongest children the toughest battles but Jackie doesn't see it that way. With the Grace of God, will Jackie be redeemed of all her sins?
This is the story of a family that has been shattered by one fateful decision. Mercy will do anything for her mother, Jackie's love. When drugs came into the picture, it seemed as if all was lost. But, the one thing they had in their side was a praying mother/grandmother, who never gave up on her child.
And then there's Grace…
My favorite character was Leslie, Jackie's mother and my least favorite character was Ortiz. I knew something was off about him from the very beginning.
I recommend this book to anyone who may have masked their pain in drugs, as well as a family member who maybe witnessing it and not clear as to what to do. Remember…your grace and mercy brought me through! P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens)
This book is good, it will make u mad, sad, cry, but at the end you will smile and get the message. I'm glad Jackie finally got the help she needed and her family didn't give up on her. This book will keep your attention till the very in and have u shedding tears. I loved it.
Awesome book…. This book will have you on an emotional roller coaster; upset, angry, happy, and crying. There are many people in our society that faces the issues that Jackie dealt with in this book; loss of a spouse and a child. I’m happy that her mom never gave up on her, and kept calling on Jesus. He may not come when you want Him to, but He is an on time God….
This story is real. We never realize the thoughts and struggles of an addict until you see it in black and white. It took me a minute to read this novel because of the busyness of my life but glad I dedicated tonight to finishing it. I felt like I was actually on the scene in this novel, very descriptive...kudos to the author
This was a very good and inspirational story. The tales of temptations how the devil will temp you, lie to you and deceive you by any means necessary. Very thought provoking and will test your faith in God.
Excellent read for this genre as one would expect. As a professed Christian I am a compulsive reader for several genres. However, when I return to Christian Urban Fiction I feel like I'm going home and going to church!! The character development and story lines are always amazing to me and when well written they feel so familiar and like it really is a God thing. I feel myself going through the trials and tribulations and the deliverances and healings I am reading about and it feels like real time.
Though I feel this author was well deserving of the 5 stars, I also feel that the editing needed some work. It certainly was not the worst that I have experienced by far, but there were just enough typos and grammatical errors to notice and made the ride a bit bumpy from time to time, which I feel is too bad, actually, because this author really wrote this book!! Bravo!!
By His Grace is a book about a family that is going through several different struggles. Mercy, being a typical teenager, was trying to impress her friends and it ended in tragedy. Jackie, her mom, had a hard time forgiving her. After losing everything they end up moving in with Leslie, Jackie's mom.
Richie, Jackie's high school boyfriend, is still living in the area. He calls himself helping her through the pain but things spiral completely out of control. Thank God Leslie is a woman of faith. Without it, I'm not sure how this family would have made it through.
This book took me through so many emotions but in the end everything worked out for the good. The ending literally had me in tears. As the saying goes God may not come when youbwant him but he is always on time! #VLSBOOKREVIEWS
This book had me struggling but it was a good book. Talk about faith! I don't condone domestic violence but when Jackie threw that hot water on her husband I thought she needed to be knocked the hell out and just when I was starting to feel sorry for him I was thought she should of threw some more hot water on him. I'm glad that Jackie made it through because the way this story was going I was sure all the characters were going to end up dead from Leslie swearing in the snow, to Mercy passing out in the club.
Reading this story has me loss for words because the message that came from this story will have you in tears. This was definitely a must read and I must say that GOD is real and he will bring you out of everything. This story was well written and the storyline was good and I would recommend this book to others.
What a moving & powerful read. Leslie was the glue that held this family together. Loved the praying & scripture throughout. At first I felt sad for Jackie's situation but then I thought her maltreatment of Mercy was extreme. Great storyline & characters & Im looking forward to reading more from K. Griffen
I really enjoyed reading this book, prayer really changes things and people. I am a product of my grandmother's prayer. Like Leslie didn't give up on Jackie my grandmother didn't give up on me, I Thank God for that, this book reminds me of that. Will be looking for more of this authors work.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It keep me interested from beginning to end. The mother drove me crazy but at the end of the day I know it was just a mother's love. I will say the epilogue left a lot to be desired. But this is a book a would recommend to others. I would also be willing to read more from this author. 4.5
The ending had tears in my eyes. It's a really great read. The details and descriptions of Jackie and Richie were so real. The struggles in this story are ones whom a lot of people can personally relate to. I definitely recommend this read!
Omg I don't know what to say this book was so amazing so bless feeling some part of the book I couldn't help but let the tears fall because GOD is amazing. I'm having chills right now writing this review thank you lord. Thank you for putting this out
Whew chile .....what drugs will do. Baltimorean born n raise so to see/hear about our city and the goings on. The struggle..... Witness to the madness, brokenness, hurt but God!!!!!! Death brings many fates. I really enjoyed this read and the many word of God
I can say I truly enjoyed this novel, well written and easy to read. Completed book in one day, couldn't put it down. Would love to read more books by her.
I really enjoyed this book, we all have some kind of habit it doesn't matter if it's drugs, sex, lies we all have something. But by His Grace and MERCY, we all have a chance. What a mighty God we serve. Thank you for this book.
This book was really good. It has a lot of lessons that people can learn from. The title of the book fits what goes on. By His Grace everything came together....
This was such an amazing book!! I cried a lot towards the end but I was truly touched!! God is full of Grace and Mercy and I thank him for it!! Amazing story line
This was a touching story, but it also dealt with a serious issue. One thing is for certain, with God on our side we can overcome anything the devil tries to throw our way.
Very good read, so true to the things that are going on in our community. The love and commitment of the mother to Christ and her family is truly inspiring.
This author really had me praying and looking at my life and my prayer life just awesome. God is perfect and his mercies endureth forever. Great read excellent book.
