Healthy Recipes

Many of these sound well worth trying. Pamela has taken the aggravation of cutting back on recipes for eight to twelve. I am looking forward to trying many of these.

I love using a slow cooker, it is my preferred method of cooking. So when I was offered the Healthy Slow Cooker Cookbook for Two, I was excited to get it. In this cookbook, there are 114 recipes for affordable and natural ingredients, 100 f"fix and forget" recipes with less than 15-minute prep and 6+ hour cook times. There are 14 quick and easy sides to also make. What is perfect is there are substitutions for low sodium, low carb, and low cal diets.
I love soups and find them nutritional and easy to make so I made the Beef and Barley Soup. I don't make anything with Barley much but found that we liked the recipe so much that I will be making it again. It is a heart healthy, diabetic friendly and low calorie. Plus it was delicious.
A few of the other recipes are Chicken Pot Pie, just mix the ingredients, put in the slow cooker and cook for 8 hours on slow. I have to say that this is a heart-healthy recipe as it has no crust. Still sounds good to me. Just serve up a side of biscuits if you have to have those carbs. Oh, and you can even make a meatloaf in the slow cooker, who knew?
So if you are looking for a slow cooker cookbook for two, then take a look at this one. I highly recommend it!

I love my slow cooker and so I was excited to find a book that is dedicated to providing a variety of recipes for a slow cooker, especially since the recipes are geared towards empty nesters and not huge families.
Simply because the kids are out of the house, I still want the convenience of a slow cooker and put food in the little magic pot and come home to a cooked meal. This book is well organized with recipes organized into convenient chapters focused on items such as soups, sides and breakfast dishes. There is even a chapter for vegan and vegetarian dishes and a list of recipes for people trying to live healthy. The dishes are easy and come from a variety of backgrounds. You can find traditional American food, but also Indian food such as chicken Marsala and Mexican dishes. Something for really everyone is included. I recommend this book for anyone that wants to prepare food at home, where you can control the ingredients. With the portion size for two people, the book is ideal for young and old couples.

I received a free copy from the publisher.

Don't get me wrong, I like leftovers, but sometimes it can get really annoying to eat leftovers when you're other half refuses to help out. Having the same meal for lunch three or four days in a row may be cost effective, but it sure is boring! This cookbook is a great solution for that. I'm already a huge fan of slow cooker recipes (I'm lazy and I "ain't got time" for all that prep and dishes) so I was happy to see a cookbook that catered to slower portions rather than feeding an army. There are lots of recipes varying in complexity, ingredients, and time. As a vegetarian, about a third of this book was out for me, but the ones that I could try out were kicking! Some of the recipes I've gotten around to trying out are: rosemary cauliflower and lentils, mixed bean chili, spicy peanut rice bake, and the southwestern rice casserole. I plan on getting to a lot more. I was impressed with the variety. I could have used more pictures in this cookbook, but that wasn't a deal breaker. This is a book I'll come back to, time and again!

This is a great slow cooker cookbook. Not a ton of prep, everything is very flavorful and the instructions are clear and very easy to follow. Full nutrition information is provided, and a few helpful hints are provided at the beginning of the book. The highlights for me were the chicken dishes, and the meat. My family had no idea that they were eating healthy, and I found the flavor combinations, especially for the chicken, to be different and tasty, yet appealing to pickier eaters.

My only complaint here is that these recipes are for two people only! Most of the time you could double or triple the recipe to feed a group or family. But if you're cooking for one or two people and trying to stay healthy while being busy, this is a great resource. There aren't 'light' ingredients, but you will feel full.

Practical recipes with easy to find ingredients

*I was provided a gift copy to evaluate and review from the publisher.*

This is the slow cooker cookbook that I was hoping for. It has lots of full color pictures, easy to find ingredients, lots of no-meat recipes, and an all around good variety of healthy but convenient entrees and side dishes. There are also side dishes that don't require cooking but that are quick to prepare for busy work night.
A lot of the recipes contain inexpensive ingredients, like rice, quinoa, and beans. The recipes are well organized with standard measurements and easy instructions-they might have more than the 5 ingredient list some of my friends avoid, but they are not super long, cooks from beginner level should be comfortable with completing the recipes.
I thought the breakfast recipes a true delight. For me they are very handy on weekends.

I like that it takes into consideration special diets for health conditions as well as allergies and find the chapters easily organized and recipies simple to access. With labels such as Soups & Stews, Beef & Lamb you find exactly what your looking for and even has a special chapter for quick and easy sides. We cant wait to give some of these a try in our slow cooker. I reveived this in exchange for an honest review.
