Rainbow Magic features differing groups of fairies as main characters, including the Jewel fairies, Weather fairies, Pet fairies, Petal fairies, and Sporty fairies.
Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton, England on November 15, 1958. She received a degree in English from Birmingham University in 1980. After having taught in primary and secondary schools for several years she began to write full-time. Dhami has published many retellings of popular Disney stories and wrote the Animal Stars and Babes series, the latter about young British girls of Asian origin. She lives in Cambridge, England with her husband and cats.
Sue Bentley was born in Northampton, England. She worked in a library after completing her education and began writing for children once her own began school. Bentley is the author of the Magic Kitten, Magic Puppy, and S Club series and lives in Northamptonshire.
Linda Chapman has written over 50 children's fiction books, including the following series: My Secret Unicorn, Stardust, Not Quite a Mermaid, and Unicorn School. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and daughters.
Sue Mongredien was born in 1970 and grew up in Nottingham, England. She has published over 100 children's books, including the following series: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Magic Key, Frightful Families, and Oliver Moon. She has also contributed many titles to the Sleepover Club series and written picture books. Mongredien created the Royal Ballet School Diaries under the pen name Alexandra Moss. She lives with her family in Bath, England.

My six-year-old daughter loves these books - which are craftily set up with a formula that the writer can repeat in each one. It's not great literature, but I dare anyone with a daughter under the age of 10 not to have encountered at least one of these...

November 13, 2022Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

There are seven Fun Day fairies and they are: Megan the Monday Fairy, Tallulah the Tuesday Fairy, Willow the Wednesday Fairy, Thea the Thursday Fairy, Freya the Friday Fairy, Sienna the Saturday Fairy and Sarah the Sunday Fairy.
Kirsty is staying with Rachel in Tippington Town for a week of school hols. Handy series in that it teaches the days of the week; activities are pretty varied as each fairy is simply responsible for making their day of the week fun. Twist for this series is that there is a riddle each day to help them find the Fun Day Flag.
Icy wind now fiercely blow!
To the Time Tower I must go.
Goblin servants follow me
And steal the Fun Day flags I need.
I know there will be no fun,
For fairies or humans once the flags are gone.
So, storm winds, take me where I say,
My plan for chaos starts today!

I chose to read this book as I remember some of the young girls in my previous class enjoyed reading books from the rainbow magic series.
Sienna the Saturday fairy is about two girls, Kirsty and Rachel who are modelling in a fashion show. The girls are worried as the crowd seems to find the show rather boring and they ask for some help from their friends, the fairies, to put some sparkle into the show.
A goblin tries to ruin the show by stealing a flag and by dressing up in one of the outfits. Sienna, the Saturday fairy saves the day by helping the girls to chase the goblin away.
This is a simple story aimed at children aged 5-8. I think the rainbow magic series of books capture the attention of young girls and encourages them to read. This story in particular is fun and easy to read but I would have some concern about how the plot centres around a fashion show and talks about modelling clothes. I feel that this may be inappropriate as the story is aimed at girls of such a young age.
There are, however, over a hundred rainbow magic books and I'm sure that some of them would be perfect to have on a classroom shelf to encourage independent reading, especially in young girls.

This is the sixth of seven books in the Fun Day Fairies series by the group of authors who go by the name Daisy Meadows. It's a fun series, especially for young girls who are starting to read chapter books. This story features a fashion show and it was very entertaining for our little fashionista. Our oldest is addicted!
March 2012 update: our youngest is now immersing herself in this series and is reading them very quickly, too. As inane as I thought they were, I love that this series is making readers of our girls. Hooray!

In Sienna the Saturday Fairy, Rachel and Kristy are picked to be models in a fashion show. When Kristy puts on her scarf, she notices that it's Felicity's flag. When Rachel goes to get her gloves, and leaves her outfit behind, a goblin steals it and puts it on. He walks down the aisle with Kristy instead, and tries to grab her scarf. Kristy dodges away but another goblin comes out from under the runway and grabs it. Rachel and Kristy get it back with Sienna's help. Sienna was in one of Rachel's gloves.

Its Saturday and there are only two fairies left for Rachel and Kirsty to find. When the two girls go to a fashion show they discover Sienna the saturday fairy and wonder if they can help her find her flag in time before Jack Frost`s evil green goblins do.

I thought this book was good. I wanted to read this book because my favorite day of the week is Saturday so I thought I would really like this book. My favorite part was that it was taking place at a fashion show and instead of Rachel and Kristy, It was Goblin and Kristy on the catwalk.

This story is about how Kristy and Rachel are in a fashion show and a goblin dresses up in Rachel's outfit! And then try's to steal the ribbon from Kristy.
