A Hard Choice

Rate this book
Mary thought she had her life figured out. Growing up as a plain person, routine dominated her existence. She grew up playing and going to school. Then she learned to do chores and to work. As she got older she was expected to be courted and to get married.

Samuel was supposed to be the man she would marry. They had been friends since their youth, and it was always expected they would end up together. Sometimes years go by, or decades, or most of a lifetime without anything happening; not a new thought or event or anything out of the ordinary. But then in one moment everything can change.

That is what happened to Mary when her father suddenly died of a heart attack. It threw her life into chaos and caused her to doubt whether she could be married to Samuel. What she longed for was now uncertain.

John has spent 9 years living with the englishman. But now he feels a calling back to the place of his youth. He longs for a genuine spiritual connection with another person after so many years dealing with the superficialities of modern life. When he meets Mary will they fulfill each other’s longings? Or will he even be accepted back into the Amish community?
