This was rather unexciting. Either I have read way too many hockey biographies, or this one was just below average. If you only read one hockey biography, read the Boogaard story.

I am usually a tad annoyed with books "written" by athletes, actors or other famous people as it's clear that they didn't write the book themselves. At the beginning of this book I was eating my own words as I almost wanted a ghost writer. This book was clearly written by a hockey player, not a writer. However, as the book went on I truly appreciated the author's voice and was wishing I heard that in more autobiographies. I do wish it was organized differently-a bit more chronologically versus skipping around as at times I had difficultly following what season/part of the season he was talking about. That said, I followed the late 90s section well and I'm not certain if it didn't skip around as much or if I was just more familiar with that era. Perhaps a better hockey fan would be able to follow it better as they would be more familiar with all of the names and games. All in all, it was a great peek into a world that I had never seen behind the scenes of, but grew up enjoying from 9 rows back at the arena. There is no one that I would rather see it through the eyes of than the heart of Buffalo Hockey. I rarely give 4 stars, and I'm guessing in this case it's because of the novelty of the book versus the quality. That said, I truly enjoyed it and find it to be a must-read for all Buffalonians and hockey fans.

I devour anything about Buffalo sports, so I of course needed to read “Rayzor’s Edge”. Rob Ray is beloved in the Buffalo community and has been through a ton with the Buffalo Sabres organization, so I figured he would have a lot of stories to tell. I liked learning more about his upbringing and his journey to the NHL, but I thought this book was lacking in seriously interesting stories. There are some nice anecdotes in here about particular fights that Ray was in and particular pivotal moments in Sabres history. However, there is not a whole lot that’s incredibly illuminating within “Rayzor’s Edge”. If, like me, you’re a big Sabres fan, it’s worth the read, but don’t expect to find any especially juicy secrets.

Didn't really read it fully, skimmed a lot of it, but it was pretty interesting reading about Rayzor's journey to the NHL. The stories of him and Domi clearly make it complete!
