Bear Mountain #9

A Beta for Two Bears

Rate this book
All he’s wanted his entire life is freedom.

Freedom from the stigma of ignorance. Freedom from the life he’d been born into. Freedom from the vicious males raising him.

After the death of his fathers, Tyler thinks perhaps he’s finally found it, only to realize there’s no one to care for his four younger brothers.

Dmitri and Barron know Tyler is their mate, but the idea of taking in a family of five is daunting, to say the least. Add in the fact they’re the McCreary wild brats, and both of their heads are spinning. Yet they won’t abandon their mate or the cubs who need them.

Tyler doesn’t want to admit he needs their help. His pride gets in the way and gets them all in a dangerous situation. Can Dmitri and Barron help Tyler and the boys see their way back and become the family they all deserve?

3.75 I loved the family angle and the rambunctious cubs but i'm losing my patience with the mate always running. I skimmed the Tyler/brothers/Carron drama in the middle and skipped to the good parts. Looking forward to Ronan's book. I'm guessing he's next.

I am loving these books.

This one is a big turning point for the community as well as Tyler and his family. I am looking forward to how things play out from here. The dangers and hardships that will balance out the sweetness. There are many more books to go.

I was worried as this series went along that I would get sick of the Bears of Bear Mountain. Well…I’m really happy to say that is NOT true. In fact, I think this latest installment might very well be…dare I say it…my favorite of the series so far. I got it very late to review, so I’m hoping that installment 10 will be out shortly so that I can keep going!

I really liked that this installment didn’t need to have any of the duplication of timelines that had occurred in some of the previous books. It is set in the here and now, and there aren’t any flashbacks, like the ones that threw me off in some of the other installments.

Let’s talk about the story. In A Beta for Two Bears, the author picks up the story directly after the end of book eight. We segue directly into the story of Tyler, who you will remember witnessed the deaths of his fathers in the previous book. Far from being a bad thing, Tyler is instead happy for the end of his and his brothers’ torment and mistreatment. But what will happen now? Four of Tyler’s little brothers are in a cabin in the woods and there is a huge blizzard coming. Can they save them? Can Tyler work past his “McCreary’s never submit” mentality to recognize that Dmitri and Barron might just be the answer to his and his brothers’ well-being?

I like this author’s writing style, and I’ve really been enjoying each installment as it comes. I particularly liked this one…I think because of the kids. I fell in love with Jedidiah, and would love to go pick him up and bring him home to live with us! I know who the next installment is going to be about and I’m really interested in seeing how it plays out, now that I figured out who the other two in that Triad are going to be! There were also hints of another mating near the end of this book as well, so yeah…I have no idea how many installments there are still to come!

I was very happy to see one HUGE loose end tied up in this one, but no spoilers as to what it was! I recommend this book, and the entire series. I would not say they are standalone works though. You really need to read the entire series, starting with book one, in order to follow through and know who all the characters are. Why not start today if you haven’t? I LOVE this series...like, refreshing amazon to see when the next installment is ready to buy, type of love. I hate that it's ending and we might only have 1 book left to go (I keep hoping that it'll go past #10), as I have really loved getting to read about these characters and the family they have all made together.

I enjoyed getting to see so many of the kids in the McCreary family, I like that they were able to come back to Bear Mountain and to know that they would be taken care of. I'm also happy that they were able to take care of Carron and close that chapter on everything he had done. I kinda feel like the action in the second half was a bit...rushed?, but I just loved the end with Tyler, Dmitri and Barron...they were just smokin' hot, as always!

I gotta say, I'm just a teeny-tiny bit sad-face that in the next book, Bring on book 10!

I liked it but.....

Ok I liked how we finally got to see all the McCleary boys..but I did like how it seemed nobody picked up the correct names of past characters...In book 7 the name was Abraham not Abel... that's so damn annoying..and also in that book 30 years had passed no 20!!! Very disappointing!! Will not stop me from continuing the series just hope the author gets it together....

Love's healing

This is another great addition to this great series. Hope is given for more characters to have a chance at redemption , love and acceptance. The love given and received between the main characters is beautiful to read. I am looking forward to seeing whose story is next!

Wow

Another great installment with lots of of teasers for future books. A little humor, a lot of drama, some hot sex. Some magic, some mystery. Highly recommend the whole series. But remember you might need a pad and paper to keep track of everyone.

I think it's one of my favourites in the series so far (and I'm saying it as someone with zero interest in kidfics).

Great addition to the series

I love that the McCreary boys won't be cast aside by their community for the sins of their fathers. I also loved that even though Tyler knew that his fathers weren't respectable, he still had to work at not falling back on their influences in his life.
