Jordan DeWalter has her future mapped out—build the most impressive architectural design portfolio in all of New England, and use it to one day open her own firm. But when her father unexpectedly passes away, her plans, and her heart, are broken. Now, if she wants the money once promised to her, she’ll have to return to the town that threw her family out over twenty years ago in order to get it.
If there’s one thing Jordan despises more than small towns, it’s small town people.
Casey Luck has spent his life skating by on charm and a devil-may-care attitude. Never one to take life too seriously, he’s kept secret his dream of building custom dirt bikes. Instead, he fills the role his family expects: tractor mechanic, farm handyman, comedic relief. But, deep down, Casey’s restless for something more.
Then he meets his new roommate: Jordan.
Their attraction is instant, but Jordan’s not fooled by the chemistry between them. When the summer is over, she’s out of here no matter what. In fact, she’s willing to bet on it.
Will their undeniable connection be the push they both need to break free of their pasts, or will Jordan’s wager on their failure ruin the future for them both?
Heather Hildenbrand lives in coastal Virginia where she writes paranormal and fantasy romance with strong-willed heroines and dark, grumpy heroes who’ll burn the world down for their mate. eather Hildenbrand has an amazing talent for writing. Picking up A Bet Worth Making I expect a love story, with a twist, and a lot of country fun. That is exactly what I got from the entire story. The story of Jordan and Casey is sweet, loving, and real. A story that could happen in real life is a story that I can relate to. I love when a story is realistic and wonderful.
Casey and Jordan’s relationship starts with a misunderstanding and goes down from there… or goes up and to a much better place. They fight, they flirt, they watch each other, and they try to fight their feelings for each other through almost the entire story. I found it refreshing that the attraction was obvious from their first meeting but they didn’t just fall into bed. It was decided that theirs was going to be more than just a quickie, at least by Casey it was. They worked toward the relationship, they made each other be honest, and they pushed for what was important. I felt like Casey was the “adult” in the relationship and pushed Jordan a lot, but it was necessary as Jordan was wary of everything country.
This is the second book in the series but it is a true stand alone. There are characters that appear in both books but each book is its own story. Of course, I recommend reading them both but at least pick up A Bet Worth Making. Heather Hildenbrand is wonderful and talented. I cannot wait for more.
What a beautiful story of learning to love, trust and live without judgements. Heather has written a true lesson for all to learn using characters Jordan, Casey, Summer and more to prove that life is worth living if you take a chance and do it. Even if it takes a bet to get it started. Excellent book. 5 stars plus.
Another one of those sweet country romances that us country girls love. This story brings in our friends from the first book and adds a new friend to the mix. This book gives you a city girl who has so many thoughts as to how country people are and it will be up to Casey to point out to Jordan that not all country people are like the family she has never met. Jordan and Casey are both fighting feelings for each other and then when Jordan comes up with a bet against them it just seems like life will e out to get them.
Of course just like the perfect romance story you will need to bring along the box of Kleenex because Heather once again will bring your personal emotions into the book and you will feel like you are dealing with the struggles just like they are.
Will Jordan be able to fight her prejudices and discover the man of her dreams is right in front of her or will she let them get the best of her and do her job and be gone?
I definitely liked book 1 better than this one. Kinda felt like the story lost some umpf on the second book for the second couple. There were some plot hiccups that I got hung up in. Not sure why, but I didn’t like Jordan so much, & Casey wasn’t as lovable as in book 1 & almost didn’t feel like the same character from book 1 to me. The book started off really slow, but finally picked up enough around 25% to hold my interest. The ending felt rushed & I was missing a good epilogue of their future, maybe their engagement to wrap it all up better. It was a good story, but could have used more editing/proof-reading, I felt like I was reading an ARC instead of the bought version ebook.
Book 3 & 4, which used to be Book 2. This is the story of Casey, Summer’s best friend, and Jordan. Jordan is on a mission to fulfill her father’s last wishes and reconnect with his parents. The same parents who disowned him decades ago. The ones she wants nothing to do with. Grayson is the last place that Jordan wants to be and the only place that Casey wants to be.
The characters, all of them, are engaging and full of life and personality. You feel like you’re visiting with friends the whole time you’re reading. You want to join in the gossip because, of course, you have the inside scoop! This one is pure fun with a side of wisdom about life and love.
~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~
Heather can write a beautiful love story. Not only did she find the typical city girl and plant her in the country, she found a girl that knew that something wasn't right in her current situation. She knew that she needed something in her life that was more than what she had now.
Jordan wants her own career in architecture. But first she has some unfinished business to take care of. A dying wish that she reconciles with people she has no desire to talk to. But, can she face them and keep her strength ?
Casey does what he is supposed to, work on the farm and fix the things that need fixing. But his heart lies with motorcycles and building them. But how can he tell those that he loves, that is what he wants to do?
I can't get enough of the book. It is sweet. It has a protective aspect in this book. And you can't help but love Casey and Jordan. They play off of each other perfectly. She is feisty and has a fire in her that makes Casey can't stop thinking about her. Heather has made a great love story with the right amount of everything in it that will not disappoint you at all!
I was hooked on this series from the first book and this one only encouraged that love. Casey and Jordan are my new favorite fiction couple. They have attitude, with a lot of sexy that had me falling page after page! I would most definetly recommend this to any one and everyone that loves a good small town romance!
Oh. Wow. Another great story by Heather in this amazing series. I loved Casey in the previous book. But now I’m in love with him.
This story is amazing. So fresh. Heather writing style is just getting better and better with every book she publishes and with this one she created a masterpiece. How she created the small town and gave the perfect feeling of such place. How she perfectly tied this story to the previous one in the series. Simply amazing!
In here we meet Jordan. A girl trying to find herself, her roots and having a set stereotype about the small towns. But once she meets Casey everything changes for her. Well, after you meet him everything changes. He is simply my new Book Boyfriend❤
Can’t wait for the next book from Heather. I’m sure it will be as awesome as this one.

Jordan and Casey's love story is like a breath of fresh air. I love the small town feel the story gave and of course the way Heather Hildenbrand writes will leave you in the story waiting for more. I can't get over how well it was written and how well it tied into the pervious book A Risk Worth Taking. you can read this one with reading the other but it was nice to have a back story to some of the other people in this book. Jordan trying to find out about her roots, and family came to the small town in which she had already stereotyped. Casey Luck will change her view of small towns and takes the bet she makes him. Will she stay or will she go? This book is filled with humor, love and romance. It's definitely worth making a bet on!
Mama says you should read this book! Continuing in the tradition of the first Grayson County book, we have a story that’s all too familiar to me, as I grew up in a rural farm town where a lot of people wanted to escape to “the big city” while others couldn’t imagine a life outside of their little hometown. I love the way Heather takes these roles and flip flops them around, making the girls have their escape, briefly, then they come back home, even if it is begrudgingly. I love the witty and sarcastic humor and sweet building to steamy romances. She’s got a great start to this series and we can only hope there will be even more!
Absolutely perfect! Casey in all his glory and then some. I honestly wished I was Jordan in this book lol. But to be honest, I thought this was a perfect story for Jordan and Casey. In a way they helped each other without even realising it. Plus I was happy to be able to read about Ford and Summer more. Casey deserved to have a happy ending!
This was only half of the story of Casey and Jordan and I was quite disappointed so I contacted the author for clearance. Heather told me she used a new publisher that must have put the old cover (of the whole book) onto half of the story. I couldn't find the second part of the book on German Amazon but we worked it out
Jordan is a city girl out to fulfill a promise to her father. She has a job opportunity in Greyson and can build a name for her hopefully new business and make good on her promise to her father. The new project is building a house for Ford and Summer.
Upon her enterance to Greyson, Jordan’s old but loved car dies. She seeks out a mechanic, Frank. Frank plays a dirty trick and sets Jordan up as Casey’s new roommate. Not knowing that Casey is a guy she checks out the room.
Casey is a small town country boy just working through the day trying to GET IT DONE. Casey is moving through the motions but is not really truly happy. Jordan could change all of that. Frank tells Casey he has a new roommate named Jordan, Casey is not happy about a new guy taking the room before he even meets him. DIRTY TRICK FRANK.
Jordan and Casey work out their differences and deside to do the roommate thing. Jordan and Casey strike up a deal about their potional relationship and make a horrible bet. The friendship begins and then a relationship blooms. Neither one expectes to be so invested in the other. After the house is built Jordan is going back to the city. I mean that was Jordan's PLAN, leave this small town behind her.
Casey has to find the courage to start a business away from the farm and Jordan has to find the courage to listen to her heart.
***SPOILER ALERT*** We get our HEA ending.
Jordan fulfills her dads last dying request. She decides to be truthful about her feelings with herself and with Casey. Casey gets the girl in the end and all his dreams come true.
