New edition contains additional material. As Holocaust survivors become fewer and grow older, it is imperative that we not only remember those tragic events, but that we empower ourselves with the many lessons to be learned from those who endured the truly unspeakable.
In Heroic Children , noted author Hanoch Teller vividly chronicles the incredible lives and experiences of nine survivors who were only children when they encountered the unimaginable turbulence and horrors of the Holocaust. Each story, each voice - though born of pain and suffering - is unique and ultimately triumphant in its own way.
Heroic Children is filled with stories of courage, faith, sacrifice and survival, family devotion, the tenacity of hope in the face of evil, and the incomparable strength of Klal Yisroel. The heartwarming photographs of the nine survivors and their families, combined with Hanoch Teller's eloquent prose provide readers with an unforgettable reading experience.
You owe it to yourself and your children to read & share this remarkable book!

Incredible! Rabbi Teller gives over chilling accounts of children who survived the Holocaust - just barely. The stories are riveting and inspiring. The author forges connections between the reader and each child. In addition, he adds in a lot of history, which really helps with context and overall knowledge of Holocaust history.
This is a very well-written and inspiring book about young survivors of the Halocaust. I would highly recommend reading it especially if you have read/heard other stories of people in the Halocaust, because these true stories of child survivors are (unfortunetly) very rare.
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It eloquently tells the story of children who survived the Holocaust in spite of their extreme suffering and persecution. It is an important testimony of the Holocaust because there are so many people who actively deny that this unspeakable atrocity occurred. It is miraculous anyone survived, let alone these children. It was only by G-d's great mercy and the kindness and decency of very few righteous gentiles that they survived. The book is inspiring in that it shows the tenacity of the Jewish People and why Jews deserve to be proud of who they are and what they stand for. I highly recommend this book although it is an emotionally a difficult read. It is a tremendously important read. These children's stories are emblematic of the stories of all Holocaust survivors. In the end their survival proves the Nazis defeat. G-dliness overcame the deniers of G-d. Morality prevailed over pure evil. We are the people of G-d. We chose G-d. decency and morality over inhumanity and selfishness.
