Dominion Trust #4

Quinton's Crucible

Rate this book
As it so often was, my choice was obedience, or pain.
When they held the whip, or the cane, or the crop, my eyes always focused on the hands. The way the fingers caressed the braided leather of a handle, the way a maroon painted nail would catch the light as the cane sliced through the air, my bound body waiting to be reacquainted with its old friend agony.
I knew what they wanted, what they expected. But I never cooperated. They’d never make me give it to them.
I always chose the pain. No matter how bad it was — and there had been times that it was awful — it still paled next to the bitterness of obedience, of bowing.
To her.
Never.
Equally wordlessly, they would string me up by the wrists, and I would wait, in silence, whether gagged or not.
They liked to make me wait. But it wouldn’t work either. I would endure, and I would prevail.
The door to my cell opened, the subtle zephyr of air across my chilled skin bringing me back to the present. I straightened my back, raising my chin. It was an unspoken expectation that I was to look at the floor in their presence, but I wasn’t about to meekly conform to their insane demands. It would cost me, I knew, but nothing came without cost in this place. I would show them I was no cowering dog.
I would endure.
The sound of the heels on the smooth concrete always echoed, and as a result I could never tell how many of them had entered, how many would witness my ordeal, participate in it, savor it.
Then the heels appeared in the circle of light shining down upon me. So, it was to be only one tormentor this time. I dreaded it when it was only one, for oddly, it always lasted longer, the pain was always worse.
But I would endure.
“Do you know how long you’ve been in this hole?”
My blood ran cold at the sound of the silky smooth voice, the cool confidence, the edge in her slightly clipped cadence. It was her. I was certain of it.
Anna.
I was afraid, but she'd never know it. She might make me cry out as the fire slashed across my flesh, but I’d never let her see my fear.
The cane struck without warning. It was her way. I’d come to know it well.
I would cry out before the end, a seething mass of marks burning across my skin, my back striped with fire. As always, I'd try to hold back the tears. I wouldn’t let her see them. Not ever. I would not scream. I would not break.
I would endure.
My punishment was always merciless, but that wasn’t the worst of it. It was what happened afterward.
Those words.
She whispered them against my welted skin, as my muscles trembled and spasmed, pain wracking my shoulders, the stripes upon my back like flames licking my flesh.
It wasn’t the lash that I feared.
They were the words she spoke to me, before leaving me to my agony, my solitude. Each time, they threatened to undo me — and each time I heard them, they were more seductive.
“Surrender to me.”

Finally, the harrowing story of Quinton Trask's ordeal can be told. This dark erotic romance can be read as a stand-alone, but the experience will be much richer if the reader has previously read Her Troika , Book #2 in the Dominion Trust series.

3.5 hot stars!!!
Copy provided by the Author through the BDSM Group on Goodreads

Well, it started as a solid 4-star read but at the end I was hesitating between rating it with 3 or 4 stars.

The first 35-35% was great! The story was flowing very smoothly and I got hooked straightaway. The concept of a young, handsome, strong, powerful man being kidnapped and punished by a Domme for his previous crimes called to my kinky mind from the very beginning.

I read Quinton's Crucible as a stand-alone. I mean it's the 4th instalment in the Dominion Trust series/universe but I had no problems at all at following the story. It was clearly said from the start what Quinton had done (as a minor character, in book 2 if I'm not mistaken) and what kind of further behaviour brought this severe predicament over his head.

We meet Quinton as he is being questioned for his harsh treatment of his "slave", a young woman who volunteered to be sold in a BDSM auction.
Quickly enough Quinton finds himself abducted, stripped naked and chained in a dark hole. He undergoes heavy punishments and basically a hard brainwash from the hands of his main tormentor, a beautiful Domme Anna and her 2 female friends.

Generally, what I liked most was the beginning because, as we change the POVs throughout the book, in this first part we have the most insight into Quinton's thoughts and emotions. He struggles, calls back to his survival training, and ponders over his actions as he slowly learns what he's about to endure. Basically, for as many as 35 chapters, we can see a real PLOT in only about 3-3.5 ch.!

We start with some introduction to what's going to happen and why. Then we have 1 chapter with Anna's meeting with the Trust's "big fish" and Quinton's condemner. And, of course at the end, we get the final confrontation and the close-up of the story.

The body of the story is, however, the long, painful and kinky as hell process of changing cruel, selfish, playboy Quinton into a perfect submissive pet slave. And boy, did Quinton get it all!!! His retraining included... . And that's the part that was the best and, at the same time, the worst for me... :(
You see, I really, REALLY enjoy hot, kinky, heavy BDSM and this was simply delicious in Anna and her friends' rendition. But... this is the part where Quinton's supposed to have a breakthrough, he's supposed to see the wrong he did and accept the righteousness of his punishment and his new "slave" status. And here the story lacks the previous insight into Quinton's head... We still get his POV from time to time (it's mostly Anna's) but I couldn't actually FEEL Quinton's transition. .

A few minor pet-peeves of mine if it comes to this book: the author has to have some fingers and high heels fetish, I think ;) I got fed up with all this "clack clacking" of Anna's heels and "tapping" of Anna's fingers/fingertips/fingernails! Besides, the girls, if not tormenting Quinton, seem to only drink something all the time (we find them with their mugs in their hands constantly) and sit or pace on the house's deck!
Also...

Anyway, the book was, let's face it, rather a loooooong and kinky BDSM scene with a lot of pain, leading to Quinton's redemption and Anna's awoken yearning to save that "scared, little boy" she saw in Quinton's eyes. The words "submission", "subjugation" and "surrender" appear every other page, and don't we like it? ;)
It was hardcore, extreme and definitely not for the faint-of-heart but if you liked the MM fic: The Story of Tol and you don't shy away from FM with a female Dominant - this book is really delicious!

You won't regret delving into Quinton and Anna's hot story!!! :)

Journey through Darkness

Wow! is the first word that comes to mind upon finishing Quinton's Crucible. I have been eagerly awaiting it since I first heard it was coming. Caveats: this is dark erotica, F/m, and definitely non-consensual. It is not your usual cup of erotic romance, although there is romance of a sort here. I'm not a fan of F/m stories, but I wanted to know what happened to the monstrous Quinton from Her Troika. And monstrous he was, brutally beating and raping any woman who came his way, all in the name of BDSM and with the approval of the shadowy Dominion Trust. What happens is that he meets Anna, a woman paid by the Trust (or part of it at least) to punish (possibly destroy?) Quinton for his actions. But Anna does more than just punish him. She sees what she calls "a scared little boy" somewhere deep in him and sets out to find him and see if he can be saved from the monster he had become.

Quinton's journey is a harsh one, no question, but it needs to be if he is to feel true remorse for his actions, and possibly even atone for them. I loved seeing this new Quinton come into being with each step Anna took with him. There are reasons here for the non-con and harshness of Quinton's punishments. It's not just about some horrible human sex slavery. And all caveats aside, this book is more than the sum of its parts. It's more than the plot; it's more than erotica. I found this to be almost a touch philosophical in considering whether Quinton could be saved. The only thing I wanted that wasn't here was to know what set Quinton on his journey to monster-hood in the first place.

You don't have to have read Her Troika to follow Quinton's Crucible, but it adds more depth and background to the story. The basics of what you need to know from Her Troika are here.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

WOW,what a journey! Trent took me by the hand and showed me what happens in the world of the Dominion Trust if you cross the line. Quentin was a man i loathed,if i have to be honest, but what happens to him when he went too far....Mistress Anna knows exactly what to do with him and to him. And what comes out of the ashes.....you'll have to find out yourself. I promise you,it's a hell of a journey and one you're going to enjoy!

It’s taken me a while to write this review. I’m hard pressed to settle on a rating. Parts of this book I absolutely loved. Female domination of a man, submissive or not, is the kind of tasty read that makes me glad I own a Kindle. There were some incredibly hot scenes that rate a five.

The author’s tendency to detail every event the main character experiences is less bothersome in this book, than in Her Troika where Quinton’s back story is told. That’s probably because that novel involved pony play, which isn’t my thing. Fem Dom is, but even so, the beatings seemed to go on and on.

The premise had a lot going for it. Alpha male sadist who refuses to keep to the right side of consensual is forced to endure similar treatment by a female sadist. What starts out as retribution turns into something more when the Domme starts to fall for her victim who’s turning into a new man.

That’s where the stars drop down on this book. Quinton seems to roll over much too quickly and for reasons that weren’t believable. We’re also supposed to go along with the idea that it’s okay for the Domme to engage in non-consensual sadistic behavior because she doesn’t leave permanent scars. Although she does have his nipples pierced. She sees something in him that makes her believe he can be transformed into a nice person. That makes it all okay. That and the Trust and his father allowing it to be done to him in lieu of having him arrested. Mind you Quinton is an adult and he didn't agree to or expect what happened to him.

In the end, the hot scenes weren’t enough to keep this novel above 3 stars. I keep thinking about what an amazing book this could have been if a more realistic psychology had been used, and the author got into the characters’ heads like Jillian Verne does in her Masters of the Order series.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Quinton Trask has sone something wrong within the Dominion Trust and must be punished. In his fascination for one of the slaves he purchased, he took things way to far and his father, George Trask and Grayson Corddray have hired Anna Shaw to punish him. Corddray wants him beat down and punished within an inch of his life, while his father wants the limits of the Dominion Trust applied. Anna Shaw enlists the help of Darynn Hauser, a former Marine and Ivy McClellan, a curvy submissive just learning to dominate males as a switch.

It is said that the slave keeps the master. Anna’s desire to transform Quinton transforms her as well. And the entire Dominion Trust’s existence is threatened.

Very highly recommended. The plot twists and the writing and editing are excellent. Author,Trent Evans, confesses this is his first F/m story. There is no question in my mind that he can write these if he so chooses.

I give this a strong 4.5.

Trent Evans always writes dark, hot stuff. But, you also get a great story to go with all that hot darkness. This one continues on his path.

Quinton is a dominant man who is a member of the Dominion Trust. The problem is that he's been abusing his position. When he goes to far, steps are taken. That's when Anna is contacted.

Anna is a Domme and a sadist. She specializes in difficult men. When she gets offered the contract to punish Quinton and sees what he has done, she has to do something about it. She is going to make him pay.

A crucible is a container that raw ore is put into to go through the refining fire to turn into molten metal. Quinton definitely goes through that process. The thing is that Anna sort of does too. They are both strong, stubborn characters who aren't wiling to give an inch. Trent gets into their heads so well. We get a great view of their processes and thoughts. I loved that.

A book I was looking forward to reading since I met Quinton in Her Troika. I wondered how he would deal with being on the other side of the lash, getting a taste of his own medicine. And wow, this book just became my favorite. It jus blew me away. I loved this book.

A mark a of a good author is making me like anc care for a character is disliked immensely. Trent Evans just did that.

This book is so raw. Quinton is being stripped down, made to face himself and what he has done to others and then he is brought back to life. To be a new and better Quinton. We glimpse into Quinton soul. It is not a journey into submission, but a journey to be saved. the have a new chance.

It is a very powerful and emotional read. This is one amazing book.

Quinton's Crucible is a first for me and I was definitely surprised how much I enjoyed it. Since I am such a huge fan of the entire Dominion Trust series, Trent Evans kindly provided an arc for this book. I love BDSM novels with hot Alpha Dominant males and fiesty submissive females. Quinton's Crucible turned the tables with a sexy Domme and Quinton's submission to her. I was amazed that I understood both sides of their relationship and my feelings changed, due to Trent Evans gritty story telling ability and detailed descriptions. I absolutely recommend Quinton's Crucible and look forward to more Dominion Trust series.

I have no words for this book-It was simply amazingly written and with a unique storyline (and no switching roles mid-way thru the book!)
Warning for the faint of heart expecting flowers and rainbows and unicorns-turn away right now! This story is hard, demanding and unforgiving, kind of like Anna...
There are moments that made me cringe because it was hardcore and Quinton was really put trough the ringer - but the journey was soooo worth it.

Well I wasn't looking forward to.. liking is maybe too strong a word.. but Quinton.. hmm he was a bad man! We get to see him come to terms with what he's done, I'm glad Anna pointed out the error of his ways..!

So I skipped the third book in this series as I was super excited to see how things went with Quinton. Once again, the author is over the top with the spanking and a women pegging a guy that doesn’t allow him pleasure is not my thing. But the overall D/s dynamic that was in this book I enjoyed.

Wow - talk about getting out of your comfort zone and not just me but the author also. I have despised Quinton for so long and couldn't wait to see him get what he had coming to him. What a transformation in his character. This author really knows how to write a well developed story with complex characters. And as usually, I am left with questions and can't wait to see what happens next. This has to be the best book from Mr. Evans to date. Well done.

Advanced Reader Copy, oh my almost couldn’t put it down... love this series. Not a fan of Grayson C., he’s not my favorite character. If you enjoy reading about female domination over a man you will enjoy this book. It was my first and I enjoyed.
