Livvie Jefferson is lame. If it weren’t for the secret list of crazy things she’d like to do, she’d be less interesting than a piece of stale bread. Harvey Lockwell is a God. An unattainable God. Livvie’s content with staring Harvey down from afar and wiping the drool from her chin, until everything changes when she’s forced to have actual contact with him during their after-school tutoring seasons. In a cringe-worthy chain of events, Livvie’s boring life turns into a catastrophic mess when Harvey ends up finding her secret list. Things take another turn for the worse when Livvie accidentally runs away from home while on a high-speed chase straddled to the back of Harvey’s motorcycle. Not only does she have to endure the embarrassment from being caught with a bucket list at the ripe age of seventeen that includes losing her virginity, but she also has to figure out exactly what Harvey ended up doing that caused them to be chased out of town by a band of criminals and how to fix it. Crazy house parties, grungy motel rooms, unexpected make-out sessions, bad dancing, and a scandalous twist are just the beginning. For a girl who’s never done anything remotely exciting, Livvie Jefferson is in for some pretty bad things.
I received a copy of this book from the author so i would be able to review it honestly. My honest opinion remains. It's an amazing, humorous book that I can't wait to see published! Yoly Marquez is the best with awkward situations and fun humor. It is well written, creative, and once more- hilarious! Livvie is easily relateable, simply because she is such a detailed character. She's awkward, funny, cute, smart, and a total good girl with a few bad girl plans. Harvey is every girls inner dream guy until you get to know him. Then he becomes Livvie's "dream" guy and everyone else backs off. The supporting characters do make the whole book though. Meeting all of the friends and family of these two is strange, but totally fun! The whole book is written beautifully and I'm positive everyone who reads it will love it as well!
I received a copy of this book in return for a review.
'Pretty Bad Things' is hands down one of my favourite books! It's filled with humour, adventure and even some fangirling moments. Livvie is one hilarious, original and relatable character! From her day dreams to her awkward moments, she is one character that all girls can relate to. Harvey being the cheeky bad boy who takes her on adventure is what every girl day dreams of having. Yoly has written a splendid piece of work and takes you on the wild and entertaining adventure of Livvie. It's a book I recommend to all! I'm so very very sure you'll fall in love, just like the rest of us!

Guys, can we first take the time to appreciate the beautiful cover of this book?
This book was so amazingly written, especially for someone whose native language isn't English. I loved her writing style, it was nice and a pleasant read.
Livvie is perhaps one of the most awkward characters I've ever read, however also one of the most funny characters I've ever read.
Then there's Harley who's the typical bad boy who takes Livvie with him after he had to flee.
Oh guys, can we also appreciate that this book has character development. Character development? Yes, character development, ladies and gentlemen it still exists. At the beginning Livvie was a really socially awkward person (not that that's a bad thing), but slowly she learns how to live her life, becoming a more social person and more open.
"Darnflabbit!" I yelled, rubbing a sore spot while trying to stand up."
Furthermore, Yoly is an excellent writer (gosh how many times have I already said that) I think it's so freaking brilliant that she's able to make things so awkward yet amusing, and at certain times I felt the second hand embarrassment.
"While you were checking me out, you pushed something out of your bra. You might want to try a push-up bra next time."
Harvey Lockwell, the badass, the legend, thought I stuffed my bra with pads.
The reason I didn't give this book a 5-star-rating was because it was a bit too cliché and too unrealistic. Like really, you've been basically been kidnapped and everyone at school has seen it and it wasn't national news? And even then, surely her mother would be concerned about her well-being? And her dad would've noticed.
The cliché part was obviously the awkward girl with the bad boy, don't get me wrong, I love those stories. But it's just so overused.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to y'all!
By the way guys, I think Lexi and Rowan should win the horniest couple ever, like from the scenes we have from them, I think maybe three-quarter of them are make out sessions/straddling each other?
Honestly it was amazing and worth the read. The summary caught my attention but I thought it would be a stupid love story. It was so humorous though! Yoly Marquez did a fantastic job in creating the characters and their development was great. Read it guys!
I love this book. I originally read it on Wattpad (shocker) then a few months later it was published. The writing is very well done, to the point that there were times that I had second hand embarrassment for livvie. It’s kinda entry way into gang romances (even though there’s nothing gang about it) but I really loved it and even though I love where it ends, I just want moreee
--- I received an early review copy of this book from the author ---
This book was great. Right in the very first chapter, I was already intrigued. The way the character was introduced was very unique and it really let me get a feel for Livvie's personality. I also noticed how even though she wasn't described physically very well, I still had a very vivid picture in my mind, like a movie, of all the scenes and characters.
My favorite parts were with Livvie, Harvey, and their friends. They all had fitting personalities and almost all of the character development was really well done. Also I congratulate the author for avoiding the dreadful 'mean girl' character that I can't stand. I was glad she excluded that aspect of teen novels.
Also, this book was funny. It had me laughing at parts out loud. It also had me on the edge of my seat waiting for what was next. Yoly also did hilariously awkward situations perfectly. But it didn't stop there, I felt like I was apart of the book like I was right there in the scene with the characters. This book made me feel something. One of my favorite characters was Lexi.
Overall, I loved this book, I loved the concept/plot, I loved the characters, I loved Harvey, I loved everything about it. The cover was beautiful, the chapter titles were hilarious. It was just one of those feel good books you want to start reading all over again once you finish.
In all honesty, I couldn't really find anything wrong with this book. It had a few grammar/technical errors mostly towards the end, but it didn't deviate from the actual story. This book had everything I look for, romance, action, and humor. I loved it.
Favorite line: "I want a f***ing slurpee Rowan!" -Lexi
This is such a fun read! The self-depreciating Livvie will have you laughing all the way through while often grabbing at your heart-strings as well. You will be rooting for her to somehow survive all her trials and tribulations and eventually find love and happiness. But what a marvelous adventure! What starts off as merely awkward and embarrassing soon becomes this amazing road trip with the heart-throb of her fantasies, bad-boy Harvey, and his crazy friends. Each character is really well developed but Livvie’s character is the one which will really keep you reading, unable to put down the book. You can truly relate to who she is, how she is and what she’s hoping for.
All those emotional highs and lows so typical of high school are beautifully described, making you experience them all over again. But, it’s all the humorous situations which are so realistic, making you willing to completely buy-in on what is in fact quite ridiculous. That’s the true magic which this author has brought into the story.
So, yes, Pretty Bad Things is indeed a Pretty Good Story! I am so looking forward to more stories from this author.
I recieved an early copy to review and was not disappointed. I've read Yoly's work on Wattpad before so I had already known she was a very gifted writer, however you can clearly see for yourself just how far her talent goes when you read this book.
I want to be Livvie, she is life goals x infinity. Her personality shines throughout the book and you really get that realistic feel from the story, I actually fell in love with Harvey. That hasn't happened to me since twilight. The character development and story line is off the charts amazing. Yoly provides a refreshing and entertaining perspective on the typical problems that introverts face! You'll love this book, I guarantee it!
I read this book while it was still on Wattpad. It was so amazing!!! I loved everything about it and I would recommend it to everyone! I know that this version will be slightly different but I don't doubt that it will be just as amazing, if not more amazing than the original wattpad story. xx
That time I pulled an all-nighter, pretending to be sick the next day at the beach in order to avoid questions. Listening to E.S. Saturday, followed by Cherry Knots.
