Theoretical Basin Modelling

Rate this book
Theoretical basin modelling endeavours to provide an opportunity for researchers to explore the mathematical models and computer simulations of coupled physical processes in sedimentary basins. These processes include flow in porous media, deformation of solid sediments, mineral reactions via pressure solution and precipitation, maturity of hydrocarbon generation and overpressure formation and others. Emphasizing the unified approach of mathematical analysis and computer modelling to study all these important processes, this book is especially concerned with models which can describe the evolution of porosity and pore pressure as well as the reaction of minerals coupled with the flow in deformable porous media. About the Author Xin-She Yang received his Ph.D in applied mathematics from Oxford University. He is currently a research fellow at Cambridge University. Dr Yang has published extensively in various journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. His research interests include asymptotic analysis, basin modelling, bioinspired algorithms, combustion, computational engineering, gravity, solar eclipse, and pattern formation.
