Alan Rivers wakes up one morning and discovers all the adults in his neighborhood and worldwide are in a deep sleep, never to awaken. He and a group of friends struggle for survival in a world that has suddenly regressed. The struggle is compounded by nature, outsiders, and other kids within his community. Several months after the adults went to sleep, they discover it wasn't a one-time event. Around the age of 18, everyone becomes a sleeper. Believing it's the premature end of life, the struggle for control grows more violent. As the opposing faction takes over, Alan must choose between living under their control with no preparation for the future, or overthrowing a bully who has grown into a tyrant. After losing someone he'd grown to love, Alan is now faced with his own impending birthday when he will find out what a sleeper really is.

I'm not very good at writing reviews but I'm going to try it!
The story begins in a smaller town (aka my town so that was awesome) where all the adults go to sleep one day. All the kids in the community just seem to fall into their places effortlessly with the very well written relationship dynamics.
The main character, Alan, was basically a born survivalist. He's always 10 steps ahead of everyone at all times. Example: he remembered that there are smaller kids that can't take care of themselves.
With that comes Isabelle... What a badass!
With turmoil of the town, deaths, and rebellions the story takes you on a journey that you do not expect or see coming at all. I laughed and I cried all within just a few pages.
It was a great read that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery and stories of survival.
