4 stars!

“The beauty of free will is that we can choose whether or not to do what we wish.”

A truly epic series, something unique and original that you don't see very often. Lyons has said this is her ode to literature, and I can see why. From the beginning of the series I was fascinated by the idea of taking characters we know and love from multiple books and stories, and weaving them together to create an action packed adventure, mystery, fantasy series.

I can't say much about the plot, because that's one giant spoiler for everything, but know I was riveted from the first page, trying to figure out the mystery of the ending of book three (which was luckily revealed sooner than I expected). From there so much happens, you just have to read it to find out!

I love the different ideas Lyons has for her characters, though they may originally have belonged to other authors, she has respectfully crafted them into her own. Very fast paced and incredibly well written, this series to me was grand time and one I can see myself returning to in the future to reread. I'm sad that this series is over and I will miss these characters.

Every time I read a book in this series, I find myself wanting to return to classic literature. A lot of the references I understood, others I had to figure out. But ultimately it made me want to read more and learn more.

“We are not bound by prophecies, but by choice.”

The last book of our buddy read with Irene Sim

This is the fourth and final book in the Collector's Society.
This book was a huge disappointment.
The series started off beeing very promising, as we continued on each book got less exciting than the last.
The story was getting repetitive to a point were it got ridiculous.
Like I've written in my last review, in every book either Alice or Finn get in a mortal danger situation and all the other characters are trying to find a cure, which seems hard to find only for the whole situation to be solved in a matter of minutes.
The same thing happened in this book.

But this book was frustrating. So many things happened that made me mad.

This was probably one of the worst last books I've read.

Buddy read with Elena Salvatore

“I have long learned that life, itself, is not easy. It just is. Death is easy, though. There are times when death is necessary, when it is the right choice. And there are other times when it is the coward’s way out.”

After an agonized race through time and worlds, there came the ending. A confusing, unsatisfying ending.
I guess it is the author’s right to choose the easy way out, the one where not many explanations are required, just - magically - the order of things is restored and all is well in the world again. Well, excuse me if I’m not Ok with it.

Despite the conclusion of the series, I’m glad I read it. It was an enjoyable journey with many amazing characters and the experience was even better by sharing it with my friend Elena Salvatore.

Words are failing me and I don't even know where to begin to start. The Lost Codex is fast paced, heart wrenching, romantic, and the perfect ending to The Collectors' Society series. Heather Lyons will rip your heart of your chest, break it into a thousand pieces, pick those pieces up and put your heart back together except for maybe one piece because she is an evil genius like that. I'm going to veer away from the plot as it is hard to use quotes or even talk about the plot without possibly ruining the events that unfurl between these pages.

The character development was amazing, even after watching them grow through the previous three books. I didn't think it was possible to love or hate characters even more than what I already did. What was especially delightful was to see some of the secondary characters, such as the AD, at times come into the spotlight and surprise you with just how much their presence adds to the story.

Though it is bittersweet to say goodbye to The Collectors' Society, The Lost Codex was the perfect ending and has quickly become my favorite in the series.

“We are not bound by prophecies, but by choice.”

“His love is so visceral, it marks my skin.”

“Hearts are not solid, not really. They are mosaics, cobbled together from pieces we take from life and others. Sometimes, certain pieces fall away. Sometimes, we fill them in with new bits of emotions and life. Sometimes, what is there remains, even if the people we took them from are no longer with us. You see, some pieces are more steadfast than others. Those are the ones that will remain the longest. I am in your heart. You were in mine.”

The Lost Codex was everything that I wanted and more. Join Finn, Alice and friends for an epic journey and most anticipated finale. Battle lines will be drawn, truths will be uncovered and all your questions will be answered….

Now, I’m gonna be honest, I was scared when I picked up this book. The bar was set high and I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to my beloved characters. That being said, when I started reading, all my fears were laid to rest as I was swept away in latest tale from Heather Lyons.

The Lost Codex is fast paced and incredibly well written. The story-line is incredibly imaginative and you can’t help but find yourself lost in the world and characters that Heather Lyons has created. Heather Lyons has not only provided us with a brilliant and exciting adventure, but her writing will slay you from page one. It is lyrical and spellbinding. This story will have you swooning one minute and holding your breath in the very next.

What Heather Lyons has created in The Lost Codex is one epic adventure. This is not your normal re-telling. No, this is an adventure of a lifetime. A story that transcends many timelines and provides you will an unforgettable romance.

There is just so much to love about this story. From a creative and thrilling story-line, to characters we all know and love. To twists that will keep us guessing and truths that will blow your mind. All that is left to say is be ready. Be ready for a most epic adventure and fantastical journey…..

The thing with reviewing the last book in a series is that almost anything you can say is a spoiler.

This book does not deserve to be spoiled. It deserves to be relished.

It is a good book, a great book, a unique book. Expect the unexpected, expect the impossible. Expect tears and joy.

I have said in reviews before that I am a character driven reader, and the characters (especially Alice) don't get any better than this.

You can't read it as a stand alone, go read The Collectors’ Society and make your way through the series until you get here.

Warning: To avoid spoilers, do not read this review if you have not read book 3, the Forgotten Mountain.

The magical journey has come to an end. Several months ago, upon the recommendation of a couple readers in one of my FB groups, I fell down the rabbit hole. Four books and 1000 or so pages later, I have resurfaced. But I want to go back. On the outset, this series was complex, filled with book timelines, catalysts, and 2 villains. From there the storyline expanded to more villians, bigger villains, in fact, an army of them, set on death and destruction. But why? With this book, we finally get the answers.

Why destroy timelines?
How, if at all, do these villains connect?
And most importantly . . .
How does the Society stop them?

I would love to give you all of the answers, but that would ruin the journey. And this book felt like a journey.
Through a hidden mountain.
Through damaged Society walls.
Through Wonderland. Because you just had to know we'd return there.

While all of the characters and timelines interested me, none more so than Wonderland. And the return there answered some questions and then created new ones.

The Wonderlanders are a wild and nutty bunch. I loved reading about their quirks and kinks. How they handed the challenge that Alice requested of them. How they found a reason to fight.

The biggest shock of the book, was who stepped up and how they were able to help the Society. And that's all I can say without spoilers.

Although there is some true heartache with the ending (goodbye my friend *sobs*), there also is a peacefulness to it. Everything is as it should be. That's what every fairy tale and romance reader seeks, right?

Reflecting back on this series, I noticed that something unusual happened while reading it. It made me want to read other books, the classics mentioned throughout the series. Obviously, I am familiar with Alice in Wonderland, but I wanted to read it again. I never thought I would enjoy falling down the rabbit hole, but this series has consumed me. And just as I type that, I have to laugh. I've seen so many reviewers write how a book or series "consumes them" and didn't have much of an idea on what that felt like . . . until now. Maybe it's that I binged on this series, so my brain was fully immersed in the world of Wonderland and other timelines. But it is also more than that. This series is so magical and wildly creative, the author's words drew me and overwhelmed me. By the end, I felt so close to each member of the Society, and some Wonderlanders, that it was hard to say goodbye. Then I realized that I don't have to say goodbye. I can continue to enjoy these characters stories with the classics. Reliving the characters’ lives BCS (Before Collector’s Society).

This series has been a memorable experience. I will never forget this magical world.

I'm torn. This book was utterly fantastic (the action, the heartbreak, and hope of these characters...) but I'm sad this journey is over. I have loved following Alice and Finn. I'm going to miss these characters and their literary adventures.

So much happens in this last entry in the series. Alice proves why Wonderland crowned her Queen. She was the heart and hidden strength of the Collector's Society when they desperately needed one. She was determined to save her new family. I think it was then that she realized how much the Van Brundt's and the rest of the society have come to mean to her and that it was time to let go of Jace and Wonderland.

Finn was heartbreaking through most of the book. He was torn over what happened to him while he was in the Piper's Mountain and worried that he could possibly do something that would harm Alice. But he proved why he is the perfect match for Alice. He was her equal in strength and fought fearcly for her and to rid themselves of Piper and his minons.

There was so much to this series. Characters that were an absolute joy to fall for and a storyline that kept you on the edge of your seat. Heather Lyons kept you guessing from one page to the next. Even with this last book, you weren't really sure our dear, beloved Alice and Finn were going to get their HEA. For anyone who has ever loved Alice in Wonderland, The Collector's Society is a must read.

I want more!!!!

Alice Liddell can't remember her past. Set to marry Jace, the White King, in Wonderland, she can't help but think that it feels WRONG. He's not the one she's supposed to be with. He's not the one who she dreams of. But she has no idea who is. Her heart finally remembers Finn Van Brunt, the man she loves desperately, and she knows she must return to him somehow. But the Piper, the 13th witch and their Chosen are relentless in their determination to eradicate Timelines and the members of the Collection Society who seek to protect them. This story takes you from Grimm's Germany to modern day NYC and back to Wonderland as Alice, Finn and their crew struggle against the holds of a most devious enemy.

I'm not much for the fantasy genre overall, but Ms. Lyon's Collector's Society series are some of my favorites books of all time! As a lifelong Alice in Wonderland fan, this wild and fantastical take on the classic story totally sucked me in and made me desperate for more. I'm soooo bummed that THE LOST CODEX is the final book in this series, but these are genuinely some of the only books I will re-read in the future…they're THAT good. This can not be read as a standalone, you'll be completely lost and you'd truly do yourself an injustice by not getting the full brilliance that Ms. Lyons has woven. And I'd just like to mention that the FEEL is very much reminiscent of the Lewis Carroll classics, including the weird, wonderful and poignant.

"I am always with you. It is what those who touch lives do, Alice. Hearts are not solid, not really. You were in mine."

Do yourself a favor and pick this entire series up ASAP. You won't regret it.

Bottom Line: This is a romantic fantasy with a few erotic elements (particularly in Wonderland, where orgies are as common as talking flowers), however it's not gratuitous…it's more a statement on just how bizarre that place is; lots of death and murder (but set in a fairy tale world so it's not overtly horrific); no sexual assault/rape; no condom use (again, fantasy world). - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...

4 amazing stars

Finn y Alice siguen siendo GOALS IN LIFE, nadie me puede decir lo contrario.

A disappointing ending to one of my favorite series...3.5 Out Of 5 STARS worth

I wanted to love this…I have loved the first three books in The Collector's Society.  This has always been a uniquely told book series, but this one was just too out there in left field and left me feeling confused and sadly disappointed.  It felt like it dragged a lot of the time and was the longest 411 pages ever.  I've adored these characters and I have been fascinated with the premise, so I tried to let that reflect in my rating.  I guess, overall I just wanted this play out differently…and that ending…well, I guess ultimately that ending left an opening for this story to play out differently...

I actually finished the last half or so of this book with the Audio version, because I was being plagued by migraines and couldn't continue reading.  I did not care for the narration of this at all, though.  Heather Lyons, in my opinion, this series could have benefitted from a different narrator, in fact adding a male voice would have been worked much better for Finn's parts and for the print version, you really need to have someone proofread it.

OMG!! This book was AH-MAZ-ING!!! I am totally not surprised of course...Heather Lyons paints such magical worlds and has you falling in to them so easily.
With this being the 4th book in The Collector's Society series I will keep this rather brief. I can't give too much for I do NOT want to spoil anything for other readers.
I absolutely LOVE this series and was biting my nails waiting for the next one to release. I could never guess where Heather Lyons was going to take us with these complex and dynamic characters, but I can tell you that the journey from start to finish has been epic.
The Lost Codex is beyond brilliant and I am still reeling from the roller coaster of emotions that I have been on while reading.
If you haven't began this series, go now and get to reading!!!

The Lost Codex was a solid ending to the fantastical Collectors’ Society, but sadly lacking the emotional impact I was hoping for. The first two books of the series were outstanding while, for me at least, the final books sort of lost that original magic for one reason or another. This is of course, just my opinion.

As a whole however, this series stands far superior to many others of its kind and Heather Lyons should be commended for she has accomplished here. I know I personally will always hold these books in a high regard, most notably being the varied, surprising and captivating interpretations of popular literary characters such as my icy warrior queen Alice.

Update 2/22/17:

description

I don't even know where to begin with this review because words are failing me. This book was perfect in so many ways that it's hard to tell you just how amazing Heather Lyons' story is. There are plenty of reasons why you should read this book (and this series in general), but the main reason is because Heather Lyons takes you on an adventure that you will never forget! I had very high expectations going into this book and I honestly wasn't ready to say goodbye to the characters that have become ingrained in me. This world and this series means so much to me because it is so unlike any other story out there currently and it blows my mind that it's not topping the bestseller's lists! Everything about this novel was perfect, and Heather Lyons delivered an epic conclusion to an already epic series.

“The beauty of free will is that we can choose whether or not to do what we wish.”

I was incredibly nervous to start reading this novel because I knew that there were going to be some heartbreaking moments given the ending of the previous story. However, as soon as I started reading, I settled right in and couldn't stop. There is something about Heather's writing that is utterly addicting and I simply couldn't put the book down. There are plenty of twists and turns that I never saw coming, but all of our questions are answered...including who the Librarian is. Seriously, this was my face:

description

I never would have guessed her identity and I'm glad I didn't because it made the reveal that much more shocking. The book is fast-paced and a non-stop adventure. I was easily swept away from the moment I started the first chapter, and I never stopped being in awe at the wonderfully imaginative world Heather created and built on in this novel. Just when I thought we couldn't learn anything else, Heather would throw some new tidbit in and I wanted to learn more.

“I believe in the impossible. I live the impossible.”

The characters are the true shining point of this story. Alice holds a special place in my heart and truly shines in this novel. She gives up everything (and I do mean everything) to fight against the villains trying to destroy the literary world. The characters are not your normal re-tellings of the characters you once knew. They are different and human and that is what makes this story so fantastic. Heather gives us these characters that we already know and love, and makes us fall even more in love with them because of their relatability, selflessness, and compassion. The character development was amazing and some of the best I have ever read, including the secondary characters. The one thing that I always appreciated about this series is that Heather never lets anyone fade into the background. Everyone has a specific role to play. And that shines through in this finale. AD (even though the little bugger gets on my nerves sometimes) is fleshed out even more and you can't help but love him for the person he has now become.

description

I don't want to go into the plot too much because it would be so easy to spoil something...and that's the last thing I want to do with this beautiful book. The ending was both heartbreaking and heartmending at the same time (you wouldn't think it's possible, but anything is possible with Heather). I was left in shock and then Heather knew just what to do to fix it. You definitely need to check this book out if you're a fan of this series. If you haven't started it yet, what are you waiting for?? Go get these books now! Please don't miss out on an incredible story that will stay with you forever. It was a bittersweet goodbye to the characters of the Collectors' Society but I will be seeing them time and time again when I re-read the series.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net** NA Review My Thoughts

Note: I will try my best, but there will probably be some spoilers from the first two books. If you are new to the series, check out my review of The Collectors' Society HERE and my review of the Hidden Library HERE and my review of The Forgotten Mountain HERE. These books need to be read in order.
The Lost Codex is the fourth and final book in the New Adult Fantasy Series, The Collectors' Society. I was so freakin' scared to pick up this book because I have loved loved LOVED the first three books so much. I didn't want the series to end. But fear not Collectors' Society fans- The Lost Codex is the perfect ending. I don't know why I am surprised because all of Heather Lyons' books are pure perfection. I have loved everything about this series, starting with the covers. They are some of my favorite covers for any series. Which is fitting because The Collectors' Society is ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES OF ALL TIME. There I said. Favorite of all time. I can't remember a series where every single book has gotten a full 5/5 stars from me. But truth be told, the books in the Collectors' Society deserve more than 5 stars each. This is such an amazing series, and Heather Lyons really ripped my heart out with the Forgotten Mountain, and now again with The Lost Codex.

As is the case with all of the books, The Lost Codex picks up right where the Forgotten Mountain left off. This book is action packed, but even so Heather Lyons's does an incredible job making this very character driven. I loved getting to see Alice and Finn and all of my favorites again. But be warned, not everything is bright and shiny and happy all the time in these books. Loyalties will be tested and there are certainly some cry worthy moments. heather knows how to tug on my heartstrings. But through everything, I really do love Alice. She is so strong and loyal and sharp. I love her ability to see through everything and read people so well.

The real magic of these books is Heather Lyons' writing and her way with words. Every time I see her talk about someone from wonderland, I feel like I am reading Lewis Carroll himself. She has captured the essence of the books in her timelines so well, all the while putting her own crazy spin on them. Heather Lyons continues to surprise and delight me with her masterful writing and story telling. I am so in awe of Heather and her writing. I read The Lost Codex and the entire Collector's Society series really, with wide eyes and dropped jaw, bouncing on the edge of my seat the whole time. The characters all hold a place in my heart, some I hate, some I love, and some totally creep me out, but everyone in this very large cast of characters are so distinct that they stay with me long after I put this book down.

Heather is the best at weaving different characters, clues, and minor plot points that come into play later. I just love reading her books, even when she does things that make me want to cry. Her writing is so exciting and emotional. I want to live inside this series. I just love it so much. Everyone needs to read these books. If you are looking for a fantasy series, an action series, a series for lovers of classic literature, a romance, or just a series that is original and so well done- you are looking at the Collectors' Society Series! It is all of those things and so much more. The ending of this book completely wrecked me. I need the next book now. I cannot say it enough, this is one of my all time favorite series. Read this series! If you haven't you are doing yourself a disservice. I can't wait to re-read this series time and time again. Now I need to get all the books for my bookshelves.

Oh The Lost Codex. I feel like I have been waiting for this book forever, and I only starting reading this series just as The Forgotten Mountain came out. As a side note you should have read the prior three books before this one. These are not stand alone stories. This is the continuation of the last book and picks up right where that one left off.

One of my favorite things about this series is Alice. I heart Alice so so much. She is by far my favorite female I have read. She is everything. She is so strong, such an amazing fighter, but she is also vulnerable at times. She is a lot like me. She will take you down if you hurt someone she cares about. It doesn't matter who you are you do not mess with her. She will be on the warpath until you are dealt with. And I get that. That is how I am. But she is also really vulnerable at times which makes her even stronger. There were parts in this book where she was talking about how her bones are like glass and they can soften and melt so easily, and they might, but that doesn't stop her. That makes her better. I love Alice in this series. She is such a strong character. I could have hated everyone else, everything else about this story and still loved it. That is how amazing she is. She is so strong but vulnerable. She takes charge and takes action, but thinks through her actions as well. She gets things done but is not reckless. You really don't want to mess with her. Amazing.

Now this story was just like the last one for me. So intense. Such a great ride. I swear I have read all of these books on the edge of my seat reading as fast as I can to see what happens next. There are so many twists and turns, so much to deal with, so many villains to try and defeat, but through it all there is always Alice and Finn. Her North Star. Her binary star. They have true love on their side and they will fight against whatever comes at them. When one is weak the other is there to support them. I love them so much. I really cannot say enough good things about this book. You should just go read it. Really if you have read the prior books why wouldn't you be excited for this one?

Through this story we do get a lot of answers. We find out more about the Librarian and I must say I enjoyed her. I had to do some reaseach on her story, but it was fun. And Victor. And Mary who I liked more in this story than in the prior ones. And all of the characters. My heart broke so many times for them for various reasons. I loved this story, I love this world the author created, I love how intense it all is, how much I get into the story. How I was reading most of it with my heart racing hoping everything would work out okay in the end. I am so glad someone chose The Collectors' Society for book club one month. Otherwise I might not have found this incredible series or this author who quickly became one of my favorites. I was so sad to think that this story was coming to an end. Really I hope that is not. That somehow we will get more. That there are more stories to tell. But if not I will have to settle for re-reading this one again and again and again.

Now I do have to add in one thing here. If I loved this story and charaters so much why is my rating not higher? Well, honestly, it is because of the ending. It was okay. It was good. I didn't hate it or anything, but...it was just good. I wish we could have gotten a little bit more. Just a little. But that is the way it is. I know most people loved it, and I enjoyed it, but not as much as the rest of the story.

So overall this was an amazing read. I love Alice so much. She is my favorite female character ever. And this world the author created is so interesting, so different, I wish it were real. Imagine being able to interact with your favorite book characters. It would be wonderful! Oh if only. So go. Grab a copy of The Lost Codex and read this thrilling final chapter in this series. You really don't want to miss it.

This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

I’ve been so excited to read this final installment of The Collectors’ Society Series, hoping that Lyons would wrap it all up in a way that did justice to these amazing characters she’s created—and I definitely got my wish!

This book takes us back to Wonderland, where it all started and where Alice and company finally face off with the Piper and the other big bads in the story. The results were explosive (quite literally)!

What Fed My Addiction:

Sacrifice.
The main characters have withstood quite a bit of pain and suffering throughout these books, but nothing compares to what they go through in these final epic battles against the Piper. There are some pretty brutal results and plenty of guilty feelings to go around when our characters who have tried so hard to protect the people they love sometimes fail. This book is brutal to our heroes—Lyons definitely doesn’t let them off easily!

Who’s in control?
In past books, we learned that several of the characters have been manipulated by the Piper, and in this installment, several other characters fear his influence over them as well. Because of this, many of the characters don’t even feel like they can trust themselves. It’s very hard to fight an enemy when you fear you might be working for him!

Answers.
Who is the Librarian really? How are the Piper and the 13th Wise Woman related and who else is working with them? What is the Codex and why is the Piper desperate for it? What’s his endgame? Yay for answers to all of our pressing questions from the last three books!

That ending!
I loved the way that Lyons ended the series. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting, but she wrapped things up for us nicely!

What Left Me Hungry for More:

Preparing for battle.
There was a section in the middle of the book where the characters were mostly just preparing for the upcoming battle with the Piper and trying to figure out what his next move was going to be. I have to confess that the book felt a little slower to me in these sections—I was antsy to get to the real action! (But there was plenty of action at the beginning and the end, so this only bothered me a little bit in the middle.)

An explosive finale for our favorite storybook characters in their race to preserve their stories! I have adored every minute of this series because I’ve been so attached to the complex characters that Lyons has created. If you’ve been following this series, you won’t be disappointed. If not, now is the time to jump onboard! I give this final installment 4/5 stars.

I just finished reading The Lost Codex. This book left my head and my heart in a tangled mess. I'm so in love with this series. I'm so happy with the way it has ended, but I'm so, so sad that it is over.

Heather Lyons is an absolute master of words and characters and stories. This series is so rich and complex that I don't even know where to begin in describing my affection. The book, really the entire series, is the best of all the reasons I read books:

1. The premise...our favorite characters live on both inside and beyond the stories where they're created. Yes. I want to believe this happens.
2. The complex storyline. Characters from many stories band together to save one another. And, epic battles ensue where our heroes and heroines show their truest colors of bravery, loyalty and love.
3. The characters are so fantastic that I feel physical tugs and pulls on my heart just thinking about them. And not just the main characters, but all of the characters in the stories.
4. Alice. Heather Lyons' version of Alice Liddell is my most favorite heroine in any story I've ever read. There will never be another Alice. She is flawed and perfect, needy and compassionate, distressed and heroic, fearful and brave. Alice is in a class of heroines all her own.
5. The Romance. Alice and Finn are....everything. perfect. perfect for each other. the epic romance that spans time and all improbabilities for loves to find each another. The love of Alice and Finn is the definition of Romance.

In The Lost Codex, Alice tells Finn, "Somebody ought to write a story about Alice Liddell and Huckleberry Finn falling in love and spending their lives together. It would be my favorite."

Mine too, Alice, mine too.

An advance copy of this book was received from the author. Receipt of this copy did not impact the content or independence of this review. This book received a 6-Rating at the BFF Book Blog. A bombastic, drama induced finale to this very cherished series. Lyons pulled all the brilliant parts together and upped her game once more.

After the monstrous cliffhanger she left us with, hanging in limbo and anxious what´d happen, she quickly brought the story back on track.
I was a tad worried, considering the length of the book that it might drag a bit, while connecting the mess of #3 with the last, missing pieces of the story. I worried in vain, though. The pace never wavered and once I thought myself and my racing heart safe, it just picked up speed and laughed at me from afar.

The Piper: I´m glad the big villain wasn´t omnipresent in the story, despite him looming above all the time. There´s always been so much stuff in addition to the main plot line that him appearing all the time might´ve been too much. Since finding out who he really was and what his role in the game was, it´d been clear his destruction had to be the main goal.

Back to Wonderland: All the madness I absolutely adored. The meeting of monarchs was my favorite part of the book by far. Nothing came close to the convention of these crazy, sensual and overly irate characters, their ridiculous conversations and their weird loyalty to Wonderland.

Baba Yaga: I´m not entirely sure whether to be disappointed in the Librarian´s identity or not. Mind says no- hello?? One of the greatest mythological goddess/witch/whatever beings is at work here. Heart says yes, though, although it won't come up with an alternative.

BUT SERIOUSLY.
One more mention of binaries, north stars and other planets and astronomical stuff and I would´ve started plucking my own hair out as well.
Love, true love, only love- yeeees we get it!!!!
There´s nothing like your love, everyone else can´t compete.
We get it!!!!!
You´re my North Star.
We get it!!!!

Usually I´m not that against a bit of romance in the midst of a great war like this one, but something about how it gets rubbed in ones face constantly just got on my nerves. Alice and Finn are awesome characters on their own, but together they tend to annoy.

The Lost Codex will take you on an emotional journey as Alice fights to save the people she loves from a madman bent on destroying it all. It is a heart pounding, pedal to the metal ride from start to finish and the perfect ending to this amazing series.

What I have loved about this series is Alice. We all know the girl in the book, but this series introduces us to the women that is Alice. A women who longs for adventure and purpose, but is willing to sacrifice all to save he people. We first meet Alice, we see a girl who has been broken, but through out this series we see Alice grow into a Women who refuses to let others dictate her life. Alice is taking back control of her life and finding love on her own terms.

This serves Alice well, when the Piper comes to try to control Alice and take away everything she has fought for. Alice will no longer be controlled and is willing to fight to the bitter end in order to destroy those who would dare hurt those that matter the most to Alice.

The battle to save the timelines brings Alice and our favorite Society members to Wonderland for on final and epic battle. Heather does a fabulous job of bringing Wonderland to life. This world is dark, crazy and unpredictable and I loved every minute of it.

The White King, once again stole my heart, his love for Alice knows no bounds, even when she has chosen another.

The final battle will leave you breathless. The Society and the Wonderlanders join forces to take down the Piper and prevent other timelines from being destroyed. Secrets will be revealed, losses will occur and the ultimate sacrifice will need to be made in order to set right all that the piper and is ilk had done wrong.

I must admit I was terrified going into this book. Only because I love this series so much and I knew this could possibly be the last book. But Heather Lyons ROCKED IT! I laughed and cried while reading the journey that Heather has shared with us. It's an invitation to join an amazing adventures in to the world of books and the characters we all fell in love with many years ago! I truly recommend this book. Alice and Finn take us on an unexpected journey through timelines and Wonderland. If you are waiting for someone to ask "are you ready for an adventures?" Then is is the book for you!
All your questions be will answered and you will discover many more secrets. Hold on to your seat, you are in for a ride! FIVE stars all the way!!

Ratings

Overall ★★★★★
This series really was…

Performances ★★★★★ Gemma Dawson is a voice talent that would make me one-click a new audiobook without any hesitation. She gave a superb final performance, and I had honestly had zero complaints with any aspect of her acting. That becomes rarer the more listening I do. So, kudos to you, Gemma!

Story ★★★★★
Once I switched from reading this series in Kindle format to audiobook, my perception of this creatively told story completely changed. Initially, I thought world building was too slow. But narrator Gemma Dawson convinced me quickly that was no longer the case. I loved the supporting characters particularly Alice’s assassin spider.

The ending seemed realistic to me, and I enjoyed the epilogue even more. I can totally see myself re-reading this series again someday.

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

I have an indescribable amount of respect for all authors – to be able to imagine such unique characters, worlds, and plot lines is an incredible talent. The ability to translate these imaginings into words that suck readers worldwide into the pages, is nothing short of remarkable in my opinion. That being said, my respect for Heather Lyons reaches a whole new level with the final installment of this series. Lyons is able to take beloved, classic characters from all different genres of literature, and weave their histories and personalities into a plot that kept me enthralled from page one.

The Lost Codex picks up right where The Forgotten Mountain left off, and the palpable suspense never seems to end. My stomach was in knots throughout the majority of this book as I worried what would happen to my favorite characters (Victor and Jack may be two of my favorite secondary characters of all time).

This book was also much darker than the previous books in the Collector’s Society series – and rightfully so. As the series progresses and the true villain is revealed, each character is put through trials that test their sanity, loyalty, and ability to persevere. I adored the way that each character’s struggle was connected in some way to their past, and timeline. The ties to literary legends were so well placed and so creatively written that I find myself wanting to go back and read some of the classics I haven’t picked up in a while.

Some of my favorite books are the ones where there seems to be no positive end in sight. You know that point, about 70% of the way through a book when you just pause, and think to yourself “How are these characters going to get out of this? How could this possibly end well?”. I adore books that keep me guessing, and The Lost Codex did just that. While I am immensely sad to say goodbye to these amazing characters, I am definitely happy with the way that Lyons ended this series.

Now, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I rated this book 4.5 stars instead of 5. I promise there is good reason for it! There were times in the book, when the romance just seemed to be too much and too redundant for me. It seems as though after every hard fought battle, throughout the entire series, Alice and Finn have sex and profess their love for one another – while this was incredibly sweet, I often found myself skimming through these scenes to get back into the action. That being said, I did enjoy their love story as a whole, and was immensely happy that the White King was a part of the series without becoming part of a love triangle. I felt that his history with Alice lent more depth to the romance between Alice and Finn.

My Takeaway: This series was the absolute definition of unique. Heather Lyons seamlessly ties together fairy tales, classic books, and modern society to create a book that is impossible to put down. While I will miss these characters, I will wait with baited breath for the next series that the author writes. I won’t lie though, I would LOVE a spin-off series

The beauty of the Collectors' Society is that literally anything could happen. Heather Lyons brings to life a series that cannot be predicted, no matter how hard you try. There are twists and turns, moments of bliss and moments of absolute tragedy and pain. The Lost Codex, is a stunning conclusion to this series. I am so sad to see it end. I wanted more books filled with infinite adventures of those in the Society, to see them grow and love and live life. Yet alas, all of the best things come to an end, because it is only in the end that we can look back and be honored and content with what has passed.

The ending of The Forgotten Mountain nearly gutted me. I was so nervous about what would come and where Lyons would take the series. There are infinite possibilities and she delivers a book that gives the reader a heart attack and soothes their soul (to an extent). In this story, we see so many different things happen. Everything is up in chaos and you are kept guessing until the very end. Alice is a heroine to cherish. She is a woman, a warrior, a lover, someone who has felt keen loss and keeps moving forward. This character sets the standard for what a heroine should be. She is flawed and headstrong, yet her heart is pure and her determination is clear. Finn is her perfect counterpart. The White King is her confidant and ally. Every person in this book is vital to the story, flushing out this tale in a way that is brilliant.

One thing I was so excited about was finally knowing who the Librarian is. I have had theories and guesses galore but nothing prepared me for who she was. The moment I found out, I took a mini break to google and marveled at Lyons' cleverness. The layers in this story are fascinating. The moment you think you grasp what is happening, another element is added to the mix. You are constantly on the move, traveling from dreams to New York to Wonderland. Nothing is guaranteed and it makes you cherish the good moments even more so. I want to go on and on but I refuse to spoil the book for anyone. Just know that Lyons' goes out with a bang, making me anxious and teary eyed with what happens. She takes it all full circle and shocks the reader with the truth as it is unveiled. There is no way to prepare yourself for the story. Just go in with an open mind and know that it will be worth it.

This series will forever be my favorite, one that I recommend to people on the regular and read at least a few times a year. The Collectors' Society series is a book lovers dream. It is a series that shows the brilliance and talent of Heather Lyons. The story flows, keeping you guessing, and takes the reader on an adventure that stays with you long after the last page is read. As sad as I am to see the series go, I am undoubtedly excited to read the series again and look for clues in the other books in the series, seeing new layers and pure genius from Lyons. This book and series is not to be missed.
