Remmy Duchene is a Canadian-hockey-watching-baseball-playing kind of guy. He loves walking in the rain and bugging his friends about his latest story ideas. Remmy believes that true love comes in all shapes, sizes, and sexualities. He is always saying "I'd rather see two gay people in love get married than two straight people that hate each other."

Darius runs a multi million dollar company. Alfred is a former dancer who now works as a waiter. When they first meet there is attraction but Alfred doesn't take it seriously because of their different stations in life. There is a huge income disparity between these two but Darius never flaunts his wealth or makes Alfred feel like he isn't enough.
This couple deals with issues within their own families while building their relationship and trying to find time to see each. Alfred's mother is controlling and doesn't approve of Darius because he isn't Chinese. Darius is trying to rebuild his relationship with his brother who rejected him when he came out.
I really enjoyed So Into You. I liked the sexy romance between our interracial couple. I like that they are dealing with regular every day issues we all deal with. This is a very lovely story.
This is a pretty enjoyable read about a man from humble means discovering love with a handsome, successful and extremely rich man who cherished and adored the ground he walked! I can't help but appreciate that the two main characters are persons of color. Race does play a role in this story, but it has a distinct purpose to the plot and isn't shoehorned into the story for the sake of it. Alfred and Darius are just two men in the world trying to live their lives.
The chemistry between Alfred and Darius is sweet and passionate, and I found myself truly rooting for their happiness. There is one plot line that was kind of left hanging in my opinion, concerning Alfred's mother, but I think readers, overall, will be satisfied with outcome. So Into You is a quick read that will warm your heart and make you think.
Darius is tired of finding himself with people who only see his money, and his power, so he has been on a two year celibacy ride. When he sees the awkward waiter, Alfred, at a little restaurant he is forced to eat at, because his usual stomping grounds are all full, he is intrigued.
Thus begins his pursuit of Alfred, and Alfred’s resistance to his charms, because why would someone who looks like that want someone like him? Alfred does not believe that multi-millionaire Game developer Darius would really be interested in him, but he sure does love looking at the man in his power suits.

This is a story which deals with an awful lot of issues, for both men. It is interesting to see the different dynamics between the two families and what they see as important. Alfred is amazingly patient with his Mother, and Darius has problems with his brother. But we see them work through them with their friends for support. The issue of inequality of their income was raised, but I am not sure really whether it was resolved - that said this is the first in a series, so we have time, assuming we get to meet the duo again. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next.
The entire story was scattershot, the rambling plot couldnt decide what character arcs to commit to, which lead to a whole mess of random eye rollingly stupid scenes. Both characters had odd conflicts that they kept revisiting and "resolving" over and over again (Alfred eith his mom and Darius with his brother). The smut was boring and pathetic, and i think the author forgot positioning halfway through, cause it was a mess (and not the hot sticky kind). I struggle to think of a redeeming feature in this book, and can, at best, say that at least it ended.
A chance encounter leads to finding true love. Alfred has had it rough. He gave up his career as a dancer for his boyfriend who then cheated on him. So now he's working multiple jobs and putting up with his mother's manipulations to get him back with his ex for her benefit. Darius is a successful tech mogle. When he walks into the restaurant where Alfred works and both become weak in the knees. It's up to Darius to convince Alfred that he's serious in his desire for a man who's not intimidated by the suit, nor digging for gold. An interesting story of opposites attract.
3.5 stars - This is a good story that I enjoyed. It just could have been a little more. Parts of it made me feel like I had missed something, like a previous story. For example, I didn't really feel like I understood the whole story about Alfred's name. And the sex was back and forth between awkward and almost slutty, but it didn't feel consistent. Overall, Darius and Alfred are good together and make a good read.
Enjoy this story thoroughly. A light read with a smile on my face. I picked this up initially just because the cover showed the diversity I see in real life but I don't regret it at all! That reality carried into the pages.
This is the first book in Duchene’s Intoxication series and I must say that it’s off to a very good start. I enjoy reading books from this author as all of her books feature interracial couples with at least one of the romantic lead MCs being one of color. She consistently features a man of color in all of her books.
As quiet as its kept, I can’t think of any other author in this particular genre that consistently feature men of color as a lead MC in their books and not just as background or supporting characters. Now that I think about it, she’s the only author in this genre where one of the MCs featured is consistently a man of color (though not always black). This is what originally attracted me to her work.
This story gives us two wonderful characters. Alfred and Darius. Alfred is a man who’s abandoned his dreams and sacrifice his happiness to please his hateful shrew of a mother. He’s a hard working and is a dutiful son, constantly dealing with his selfish, obnoxious mother.
What I found particularly interesting about the story is that Alfred wasn’t even looking for love; his heart wasn’t at all open for business. But of course, life being what it is, throws certain people in your path and love makes an appearance when you least expect it.
Darius Stark has the three Bs going for him: beautiful, brilliant, and a billionaire, shows up at the restaurant where Alfred works and ends up in Alfred’s path. Although it wasn’t love at first sight, there was definitely a strong attraction between the two men.
I loved the interaction between Darius and Alfred. There were cultural and racial differences but as with all of her books, she didn’t dwell on it or make it a ‘thing’. It was just two men acting on their attraction towards one another.
I loved how she didn’t have Alfred being overwhelmed by Darius. She could’ve written a tired Cinderella or in this case, CinderFella, style story with Alfred being swept off his feet by the gorgeous billionaire but she didn’t. She gave Alfred some fire, he’s his own man with a strong personality. Alfred was hard to get but he wasn’t playing at it or playing it up. He honestly didn’t think that he and Darius had anything in common. To him, Darius comes from this world of money and power and Al being this down to earth former dancer turned waiter, just didn’t think he’d fit in to. He didn’t realize that Darius was as down to earth as he is.
Both MCs are dealing with issues with prejudice and drama from family members but she didn’t drag that out, darkening the storyline. She didn’t give the prejudiced family members that much importance in the story; they didn’t dominate the storyline at all. She opted to tell the story of these two great guys falling for each other instead.
The story was light but not overly so; she managed to strike the perfect balance of the mood and tell a really good story.
The editing, which was a bit of an issue when she first started writing, has improved tremendously and was well done. She’s honed her craft and is really coming into her own as a writer.
I applaud the fact that she incorporates ethnic men into these stories. There is a huge empty space in this genre when it comes to diverse characters in general, black men in particular and she’s filling it quite nicely.
As a woman of color who enjoys this genre, it’s always nice to see yourself represented. She represents and celebrate different ethnicities and cultures by bringing them together and writing about them loving each other. I also like the fact that she doesn’t stereotype these characters. They’re just a couple of guys who happen to have different colored skin loving each other. And it’s a beautiful thing to read.
I will definitely keep an eye out for this author and I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about interracial couples.

So Into You by Remmy Duchene starts off the Intoxication series. I liked this one for many reasons. One of them being these two guys are just ordinary, real men, who need someone who understands them. Alfred is a waiter. He works very hard. He has an over bearing mom who believes he should marry a Chinese man no matter if that man cheats on him or not. Alfred is smart though he knows he can do better than just being with someone because of race and security. Alfred is a straight forward man. He tells it like he sees it. I liked that honesty in a character. Darius he is a CEO. He has always wanted someone to see past his money, and see the real man underneath. He has had a fall out with his brother. His brother cannot accept that Darius is gay. But when his brother's son turns out gay, well everyone has to decide what to do and weather holding on to hate is a good thing, or not. Both of these men need each other. Alfred gives Darius some honesty, and is a great sounding board. Not to mention chemistry that is off the charts. Darius allows Alfred to be himself. Shows him strength, and loyalty. Over all this is a great read about two men who make love happen for themselves when they had almost given up hope of ever finding it.
It was a good book all the way through. I just loved the story behind it. It made me happy just to know they were happy all the way through it. Will subsequent books have to do with that family? I hope so because they are wonderful. Thanks for writing it.
