From The Godfather (#1) to Groundhog's Day (#101) The Greatest Movies Ever is fun and controversial ranking of the greatest movies of all time, as selected by film critics Gail Kinn and Jim Piazza and including comedies, dramas, musicals, romances, and action films compiled from 80 years of movie making and from all around the world. The list includes such classics as Citizen Kane, North by Northwest, and Schindler's List; international films such as The 400 Blows and Roshomon; as well as more recent films including Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Slumdog Millionaire.
The list is just like any other movie list (except it's a top 101 rather than a top 100). The information given about the movies on the list is superb. It doesn't fully aim for classics, but it's leaning to that area. I was surprised by some of the films on this list, such as American Graffiti, A Hard Day's Night, and Groundhog Day. Not that those weren't good movies (they're a few of my personal favorites); I just didn't expect them to make a professional film list. As a film fanatic, I enjoyed The Greatest Films Ever. If you're a movie fan who is tired of seeing Citizen Kane (which never even won Best Picture!) being called number one all the time, borrow this book from the library, or even buy it. I should really stop though--this website is for books, after all, and not films. End of review.
it was okay. I was disappointed with the lack of films in the 90s and 2000s. I also haven't heard of more than half of all these films. This book was generally boring and i had no interest in it after the endless black and white pictures. Get some color!
I was excited to read this before I actually did. Crazy how ones opinion can change.
