It was a routine traffic stop until the submissive in Jack recognized the Dominant in Maddox. Now Maddox and Jack are walking a dangerous line: on opposite sides of the law by day, on the same side of the bed at night. Can Maddox trust a man with Jack's past, and does Jack even want him to?
One thing's for sure: Jack needs to be punished, and Maddox is just the man to do it.
Tanya writes in a variety of romantic and erotic genres, being an avid follower of many of these genres herself. Some of her favorites are M/M romance, MFM threesomes, and BDSM with male submissives.
Tanya lives in New England with her boyfriend and her cat and has participated in many of the activities about which she writes, but not all of them. It's left to the reader to decide which are which.
Good, for what it is. It's porn, with a background plot that's just as minimally developed as the relationship evolution is. But decently executed.
I picked this one up to see how I would feel about Chris's other kink stuff (because I didn't care for Locked). This one showed me that her approach to d/s relations has more substance to it than I gleamed from that initial experience. My next read of hers will be Aftercare.
ETA: The follow-up to this story, Back Under, is free on Chris's website and is pretty good too. I like when an author writes something in a way that I can appreciate in the context of the scene even though it's NMK (which needles decidedly are not).
While this isn't my personal kink, this is a really solidly written book, and will appeal a lot to many readers. Chris's writing flows smoothly and lets you just connect with the story. I rec to anyone into quite sweet BDSM with just a hint of orgasm denial, face slapping and hair pulling. Bonus points: so much better written than Sean Michael.
Unrealistic instant attraction, police procedure, safe BDSM practices, and HFN. But.....this short story sucked me in quickly and left me with lots of emotional "feel goods". I guess I'm just a mac & chz kind of gal.
There were some bits of dialogues that were scorching HOT, which blew my mind given how little the MCs talk to each other.
Some of the things I didn't particularly enjoy: ✦ No aftercare ✦ The bottom did not get as much pleasure as the top (former had to jack off after the encounter to get his orgasm, several times! 🙁)
Smacking someone in the face is a dealbreaker for me. Reading about it actually made me queasy, which sure put an end to the whole sexy-times vibe. So, DNF @ 30%.
This is a fast and a SPAG-wise relatively clean read.
Contrary to what I assumed from other reviews this wasn't mainly S&M, instead it was the typical US-style BDSM-D/s sauce, with a minor variant on denied orgasms and the typical US-style gung-ho alphamales you find in m/m romance right down to the equally typical descriptions of people's physique and the a dime a dozen sex patterns and types of sex.
I wasn't intrigued (the obvious background of Jack telegraphed from the beginning) by the secondary plot, and the BDSM left me as ice-cold as the rote sex.
This is the sort of erotica which - while competently enough written - is so boring, I'd rather spend my time with something else.
The rating is exactly what I think: okay but uninspiring.
**** This is a sexy tale that keeps us guessing ! **** Hot, raw, dirty, sexy, BDSM play, for our cop, Maddox and the criminal, Jake.
Then we find out Jack's secret. These two are deeply connected by their sexy play and secret rendezvous. This short story will rev up and stay revved up ! Just wow ! A quickie for sure ! ENJOY ! ================
Maddox the cop and Jack the criminal... Powerful read, BDSM in a way I really like to read. A hard-handed Dom and a perfect sub De sadistic parts were great done. Two strong men in a captivating scene. It's a short read with a great content and wonderful written... their interactions were just breathtaking.
The story has a nice secret to reveal !
I just loved this one enormously!!
And.... on the authors website there is a wonderful painful follow up you will love yeahhhh!
3.5 stars! A kinky, sexy power exchange read! The sexy scenes between the MCs - one a cop, and one a criminal - very exactly up my alley!!! Deliciously kinky with a beautifully submissive bottom and a slightly smaller, firm and thoughtful Dom. The rest of the story/plot? I totally agree with Tully's review.
It was a routine traffic stop until the submissive in Jack recognized the Dominant in Maddox. Now Maddox and Jack are walking a dangerous line: on opposite sides of the law by day, on the same side of the bed at night.
The blurb says it all and I have nothing to add! The interaction between Maddox and Jack have been amazing, I love the dynamics and the way they got closer to each other with every moment. This is a great little BDSM short and I will definitely pick it up at some point in the future!
I was so pleasantly surprised by this one...I mean, I really wasn't expecting anything, but this short story turned out to be a jam.
Deep Under is short story so you can't really expect some serious character development, but the characters were not bland, easily forgettable as soon as you finish reading about them. Their voices were distinctive and there was a certain kind of depth to them (as much as there can be considering the length of the story). There is not much in the way of plot - main focus of this story is juxtaposition between Maddox who is a cop on one side and Jack who is a criminal on the other...BDSM is the basis on which the relationship between characters develop, so if you're not a fan of BDSM, I'm not sure if you should pick this one. But even if that's the case, it's nothing heavy, so you could give it a try if you like short, enjoyable reads with some man on man hotness and very satisfying ending (eh...that last sentence was really sweet). There is also a little bit of insta love going on, but I chose not to care... Oh yes, not to forget... I agree with the other reviewer - their first kiss was indeed one of the more memorable ones... It would be nice if author chose to write a longer story.
Toe-curling hotness! If MM BDSM floats your boat, I highly recommend this novella! I've never read this kind of pairing before. Maddox is a cop and a Dom and he looks like Robert Patrick in T2 (scary and hot, be still my heart). Jack is a crook. He's tall, muscular, looks like the definition of an alpha male, but he's actually a sub. I love it how in this case the sub is actually the bigger guy, and yet the Dom is every inch in charge. These two thrown together set the house on fire. The chemistry is amazing and the characterization is top notch: professional and badass. If you're tired of male characters who sound like women, this is the book for you. Jack and Maddox think, talk, and act like guys who know their business. I'm also crazy in love with this author's use of language.
He looked right in handcuffs because he looked wrong in them, and that was what Maddox liked - the rough and tough guy on his knees, the one who was never meant to kneel, who didn't have to kneel, but who knelt anyway.
I'm so glad I grabbed this book, I only wish it'd been longer!
That little story packed a lot of punch! I was wishing it was longer - I loved the whole Dom cop/submissive criminal setup - but the bonus short on the author's website was a nice glimpse into their future relationship. The BDSM elements went a little further than I usually enjoy (there was face slapping, which crosses a line for me, but the recipient CLEARLY enjoyed it), but their chemistry was scorching hot and I still really liked both the book and the bonus epilogue.
Pared down to the essentials of the story, oh and the sex, this was short and sharp rather than short and sweet (cos what these two guys get up to together is far from sweet). A perfect little pick me up if you like your men into bdsm.
I read this after Owned and while I liked it, I liked Owned better. I liked the premise and unlike Owned, there's a HEA along with an epilogue on the author's website that made me smile.
This novella was a steamy read and managed to not only sizzle, but present us with two nicely drawn MCs and a story that moved right along. So glad I discovered this author and anxious to read more. 4 1/2 stars, which would have been 5 but for Ms. Chris' misuse of the word prostrate for prostate.
Ok read, plot was thin and a case of almost insta-love, not really up my alley, but entertaining enough. The short story 'epilogue' on the authors website brought a nice enough HEA.
An honest cop with a taste for sexual domination... A shady dock worker who craves submission. How can they possibly make it work?
“You still carrying around an unlicensed gun?” That got a look that said something like, “Yes, but if I say that you'll arrest me again so please don't make me lie to you.” “I think you should be punished.” Jack lips curved upward. “Someone ought to punish you. You've been getting away with this shit for years.”
Damn, that was hot! Knowing there would be a twist, I saw this one coming but that was my own fault for reading spoiler-y reviews.
I really did enjoy this short story, but how I wish it were longer with more background and/or inner musings etc.
Maddox is a Dominant sadist Cop, and Jack his willing submissive. How they meet is fairly cliched; but I liked how Maddox was hesitant about his relationship with a "criminal". I guessed fairly early what it was with Jack (hence the title missing the word 'cover'), but I loved how he recognised his need for pain.
It's not an easy read if you don't like hard core BDSM (even though it's probably soft enough compared with others); but I would suggest going to the Author's website to read the HEA for Maddox and Jack (but beware of needles!) :)
I enjoyed this MM BDSM short story. The characters are memorable and I enjoyed the basic plot. Their first kiss was awesome and worth the wait. My only dislike is how the first encounter at the motel ended. This is probably due to a personal bias and the rest of the story more than made up for it. It was a fun and enjoyable read and I'll will be checking out this author's other works.
I liked this story. The sex was especially rough, but it didn’t seem to be anything but a turn on for the main characters so it didn’t bother me. I ‘m going to have to check out more stories by Tanya Chris.
