What do you do when the dead come back and your loved ones disappear?

All Gabe McKenna wanted was a new floor for his barn. What he got was seven corpses, all long dead. Seven rich men, missing from New York.
One of his closest childhood friends is gunned down in an Albuquerque casino. After escaping two attempts on his own life and with time running out, McKenna must uncover the connection and prevent his loved ones from joining the growing ranks of the dead.
From New Mexico to New York to a lonely cliff once home to an ancient people, McKenna struggles against a bloodthirsty criminal enterprise for whom money matters more than any man’s life.

Well-written hits all five senses, full of suspense, romance, murder, justice, intrigue, and more. Great series by this debut author.

I thought this was a very enjoyable follow-up to the first book and there are definitely recurring themes now that I’ve read the first three books – very pleasant ‘easy reading’, relies heavily on the charm of the main character, Gabe gets himself into most of the problems he has, and you need a moderate dash of ‘suspension of disbelief’ because the plot does get a little bit far-fetched at times but in an entertaining way, and it doesn’t go too far so it’s not off-putting.

I enjoy these books very much, they’re a relaxing, somewhat old-fashioned mystery book – they actually remind me of the old tv shows where the emphasis was on the protagonist, not the mystery-of-the-week. I would absolutely read more of this series – sometimes you’re in the mood for a murder mystery, but without it being intense and heavy – that’s what these books are.

Believable and entertaining!

Kidera's New Mexico primary setting (with Sante Fe as the focus) is so well written, it is like visiting the vicinity from my armchair. His plot and writing style are manna for creativity- seeking readers. I highly recommend the Gabe McKenna book series and, while each book stands alone, I strongly recommend reading them in sequence. Hats off to Mr. Kidera for another superb effort!

Speechless

This book was everything I hoped it would be. Twist, turns, and surprises on every page. I didn't know who to trust when Gabe came in contact with other characters. The biggest surprise was the info on his aunt. Excellent continuation of Red Gold.

Entertaining read

Kindra’s books are entertaining reads, especially if you want something that moves along and isn’t overly complex. I’m reading Them during COVID-19 stay at home time.

Not as good

As is typical, unfortunately, this second novel is a big drop off from the first. Plot is simply a rehash of old noir novels. Only thing going for it is the location.

A terrific story. I didn't find it quite as thrilling as his first book, but it looks like many other readers disagree with me. Definitely an entertaining quarantine / summertime read!

Again, a great read.

The next time I begin a Kidera book I will definitely and assuredly start to read it in the early morning hours. No phones no doorbells will be answered so I may finish before midnight. I desperately need a good night's sleep. From the first page to the last, one cannot put it down. I'm thinking of starting a survival group. How best to schedule sleep and food breaks while reading a Robert D. Kidera book.

Better Than The First Book

This book is better than the first offering. The characterization is excellent and the story moves at a blistering pace. Gabe McKenna is more sympathetic in this story and the overall tale was well developed. I will be looking forward to the next adventure. I'm glad I took a chance on the second book in the series.

A continued story of 1st book

Although the Red Gold mystery story had a finish there was a hint that it might continue, as this one does. Thankfully you are not left knowing what happened to characters and story concept.

I enjoyed it completely, I am sorry there isn't another one. It seemed like the People in the story are real. I loved it!!

Okay

To much going on, hard to keep track of all the characters. Not really my cup of tea. To disjointed.
