Second re-read: My second time reading this volume in 2021. I read it with my sister and that was so much fun. For me, World Trigger never gets old. I enjoyed this read just as much as the first two. 😌🖤

Re-read: So, due to my abysmal memory, I forgot nearly everything that happened in this volume. It was like reading it for the first time. I don't remember Karasuma using Geist again or Reiji using Full Arms and that part was so awesome! I also didn't remember that epic Nasu moment (if you know, you know). And I don't recall Miwa being okay with working together with Jin making an impact on me before but it sure did this time. Or the fact that instead of simply blindly continuing to try to get revenge for his sister's murder by killing all Neighbors, Miwa is actually trying to find out which nation is responsible. Character development much?

First read:
From now on, whenever I hear someone talking about how they prefer characters who "don't fight with weapons but rather use their brains instead", I will gently throw World Trigger in their face. Because if someone says something like that, it's clear to me that they know little to nothing of warfare and how much strategizing and tactical thinking goes into fighting a battle. And if they want to learn about how smart one has to be to be a good soldier and have lots of fun and feels at the same time, then they cannot do better than the awesomeness that is World Trigger. That's a fact.

So, as you can probably guess, one of my favorite things about World Trigger is all the tactics that are involved. And how, unlike many other books/manga/shows, no one wins a fight just because they're a main character and it's convenient for them to. No, if a weaker fighter beats a stronger one, there's always a logical reason for it! Also, every weapon is explained thoroughly and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. This manga is so incredibly well thought-out and developed and there's simply so much detail, I'm in awe. There's also tons of characters (and yep, sometimes I struggle remembering their names) but they ALL have distinct personalities and feel like real people. #writergoals.

Anyway, to get to the review (pardon me, I had to rant my love for a moment)...here are some things I really liked in this volume! ٩(◕‿◕)۶

- various agents from seperate units teaming up with other agents. Such as, Futaba & Kitora, Tachikawa, Ko, Konami & Kazama, etc. How they all adapted and worked together was fun to observe.
- Jin using Fujin again!!!!!! YAY~ it's funny to think I didn't like Jin that much in the beginning because now I Adore™️ (though I acknowledge he has problems.)
- The mysterious Amo made an appearance!! I hope to see more of him in the future (maybe get his backstory??!). I find him intriguing. And his Side Effect is so cool.
- Kako being all "oh?" when Ninomiya is trying to take command among the captains and Arashiyama suggesting Suwa take command because he's the oldest and Suwa's like, "All righty." Then he asks Ninomiya if he has any ideas.
Ninomiya to Kako: "See...this is what happens anyway."
Kako: "But it doesn't feel as annoying as before."
Me: XD
- Inukai playing with Futaba's ponytails. So cute (⁀ᗢ⁀)
- Kikuchihara. I love him and I can't really explain it but I'm always happy when he appears. xD
- Gattlin and Rata assuming Kazama to be the youngest in the group when he's actually the OLDEST.
"He is unusually calm for a child."
*snickers*
- Kazama copying Yuma's trick from the Suzunari First/Nasu Squad/Tamakoma Second B-Rank Battle was awesome. So was getting to see him fight one-on-one instead of in a team. Since he's ranked as the second top Attacker, I was expecting good things and I wasn't disappointed. His fighting style is one of my favorites. He's strong but it's an understated strength, not flashy like Konami or Tachikawa (not that I have a problem with flashy!).
- Konami totally slicing through both Gattlin and Tachikawa. That was a brilliant move.

I was slightly disappointed Yuma, Osamu, and Chika didn't appear but I get why. The focus in this volume is the Galopoula invasion and they are busy preparing for their B-Rank Battle. But I did miss them...especially Yuma. (sometimes I randomly remember he is dying and I can feel my heart slowly caving in (╥_╥) )

All in all, this was a top-notch volume! As usual. ( = 3 = )

With World Trigger 15, we go fully into the Galapoula infiltration arc. This means new triggers, new battles, and new ways that our Border agents can distinguish themselves. Of course, the real reason to read is to see how Jin's prediction from the last volume (Tachikawa will get chopped in half) comes true.

Story: Galapoula has begun their stealth invasion. They have one target in mind: the Meeden away ship - and to ensure that Meeden can't launch any incursions into Aftokrator. But Border has a secret weapon: Jin's foresight. Now that the battle is small, he can more accurately predict the future. But even Jin isn't omniscient as a certain young boy is about to surprise everyone by entering the fray.

The Galapoula arc is a nice contrast to the Aftokrator invasion arc. Instead of battles in a large scale, we have Border trying to keep the battle small and discreet so as not to alarm the populace. It could be dangerous, though, to not have all the participants there. Osamu and his squad, for example, aren't seen in this volume since they are getting ready for the next rank battle.

As the Galapoula strengths are revealed, it makes for some great battles. Unlike Aftokrator and their ego-driven and aggressive style, Galapoula are stealth based and use strategy. They are also much more team oriented; you almost want to root for them. They use as few resources as possible to get the mission accomplished. Ashihara gives us some great characters with the infiltration unit and it is especially fun to see who of Galapoula will get paired up against whom in Border.

With Border having two fronts - melee at the base of the HQ (and inside) and then the snipers up above, there are some really interesting battles. In this volume, we get to see Nasu Squad's strengths, very fun stuff with Ninomiya and Kako squad interactions (Inukai playing with Futaba's ponytails is priceless!), Suwa taking charge(!) and especially the mysterious Amo and his unique abilities (Ashihara describes amo as a sad stray puppy).

This is a volume you want to take your time really checking out the images or you will miss important small details that lead up to a surprise action a few panels later. A pivot from Konami's foot here or a 'snick' sound from Kazama there lead to some great twists. And as always, our upstanding knight Murakami to the rescue!

In previous volumes, we've pretty much only seen how teams work against other teams. With this volume, we see how the teams work together, either as a unit or singly, during the battles. It makes for some great synergies. I also love the humor - from Galapoula assuming Kazama is a kid to Ninomiya and Kako bickering like a married couple. Now, if only we get to finally see Kusakabe A04!

As of the time this review is written, World Trigger has been on hiatus in Japan due to health issues with the author. Since this is one of my favorite series, I hope we won't have to wait too long after volume 18 marks the beginning of the hiatus.

First off - great story building and art.

This series has a ton of characters. They've been thrown at you throughout and roughly all at once. This one combined a lot of them and gave you more details. I appreciated that it would put their names when they show up the first time, because it's really hard to keep track of 100+ characters.

This is mostly battles, and they're all very well drawn and thought out.

Galopoula soldiers have invaded at the request of Aftokrator (with a small Trion army from Rhodokrhoun). The good news is that Jin saw it coming and Border was ready to make a stand without interrupting the Rank Wars. But, just because you see it coming doesn't mean the fight is going to be easy.

Meanwhile, Hyuse (the Neighbor prisoner from Aftokrator) has been monitoring the situation and is looking to hitch a ride back home.

Awesome fights and political intrigue from the Neighborhood.

A good easy read, yet I'm beginning to get tired of all these somewhat random stories. This volume didn't even have the two main characters. Art design is also starting to feel a bit lazy.

I love all the fighting scenes. There are so many cool moments; Nasu’s scene at the end of her fight, Jin helping Miwa and Yoneya, Kazama mimicking something Yuma did in a Rank Battle and the part at the end with Konomi.
I really like seeing all the different agents working together. There are so many interesting fighting styles.
