This book grabs you from the first line, where Clay's not-so-private part is compared with an anaconda. Yes, that's a large snake. The story is one of those “rocker bad boy” meets the “perfect girl” for him and turns into Mr. Nice. Although the theme may be overdone a little, this one is enjoyable because that “perfect girl”, Alicia, is someone who is dying to get her chance to make it in the music industry, has a lot of sass and pizzazz and won't put up with any crap from the rocker, Clay, even if it means giving up her chance at fame. In fairness to Clay, he has some real demons in his past which he had no control over, which turned him into the careless fighting punk he is. This is a man in serious need of redemption, and she, without realizing it, gives it to him.
I didn't like the incredible speed at which these two decided they were 'in love' with each other. 'In lust', yes, but way too fast for it to be love. It was believable however, that they did fall deeply in love over time and balanced each other out well. That chemistry built up gradually.
Just an FYI, this is an interracial romance. If that is something you are uncomfortable with, this is probably not the book for you.
It is well written and keeps to a nice, steady pace. No “holy crap!” moments, but enough twists to keep it interesting. There was more to it than just a little fluff. Enjoyable!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
