GOAL SETTING: 7 ULTIMATE SECRETS TO ACHIEVING ANY GOAL QUICKLY

Rate this book
There are tips for setting goals with general life plans and there are formulas for setting goals within certain fields. Much of this material can be viewed for free on the internets or illegally downloaded in multiple digital formats. If you're a total square, you could probably go up to the library right now and find about five different books on the subject of setting goals.
Just in case you can't read the instruction, “set clear, written goals and make actual steps to achieve them”, and use your imagination from there, here are some suggestions. All of this shit either comes from the testimonials of people like
First of all, you have to physically have a paper and pen handy to write down your goals. It might seem a little redundant and obvious to bring up, but it can't be overlooked. One never knows when a goal will come to mind, or an idea for how a goal can be better achieved, and it is important to set those thoughts down to paper before they drift out of consciousness. As a commitment to a life of setting clear set goals down on paper and taking action to achieve them, one has to have a pen and notepad right there with their wallet, keys, planner or whatever else they carry on their person when they leave the house.
It doesn't matter if it's a couple pages in your planner, one of those leather-bound journals you can get at the bookstore or a little spiral notebook. It just has to be something you can and will carry around with you while you're out and about.
Second, your goals should be about you. This is something else that would seem obvious at first glance, but many people never ask themselves, “Do I even give a shit about this goal, or is this just something I feel like I should get done but don't really want to?”
Are you going to put a serious effort into getting a degree at college because you have passion for the field you have entered, or are you going to school because you don't want to get kicked out of your parents' basement? Do you want to quit smoking because you are concerned about your health and dislike smoking, or are you writing that goal down because every smoker that ever wrote a list of goals writes that down on their list of goals?
Goals should be very personal and highly individualized things. They should be meaningful to you and only you know what you care enough to work toward.
So, “Earn six figures a year” might sound like a great goal, but “Apply my marine biology degree toward managing excursions at sea” is probably going to work better if that's wherein your passion lies. Don't write down things to impress others, or goals that you think other people have. Write down your goals.
The more detail you put into these goals, the easier it will be to map your path toward achieving them. Knowing what steps you have to take will keep you organized, motivate you to act and help keep you from straying into distraction or procrastination.
Goals should also be categorized as long term, midterm and short term.
These ideas should be separated by the amount of time they would take to achieve, the urgency surrounding them and whether you can physically put effort into them at the current time.
Short term goals would likely just be for the day or perhaps upcoming the week. These are likely going to be things like appointments to set or keep, house- work or jobs to complete, projects to organize and things of that nature. These items should differ slightly from a “to-do” list, as they should be things that are part of a bigger goal. You might not be able to have a freshly painted house by the end of the day and maybe not even by the end of the week, but you can certainly go get the paint from the hardware store today.
Just as bigger goals are achieved by a long series of smaller goals, your short term goals should be listed as steps toward something greater.
