I give this book a 2 star rating.

This book is about the skeleton cat who wants to be apart of the band. She see the audition banners and want to try for a band. None of her friends says she can do it. She runs in to things on the way there. This leads to her making it the audition and rocking it.

Ways to use this in a classroom
1) It shows to never give up or let anything get in your way
2)Have students come up with more obstacles that the skeleton cat may run into
3)Have the students come up with a dream band
4)Let older kids see if this is actually realistic or not

Great illustrations (not creepy in my opinion and good for preschoolers) and I like the story too! Very musical book. You're going to make lots of sounds when reading this book if you read it out loud. In my opinion, I find the skeleton cat really cute! I think it would be a good book for preschoolers around Halloween time.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

It's basically about believing in your dream and keep going until you accomplish it just like the cat did.

This book was wonderful. It was rhyming fun. The cadence was spot on. The story was entertaining. This would be great fun at storytime. Between the story itself and all the sound words that kids will get into and want to beatbox along with. Add some colorful, exciting illustrations and I’m surprised I haven’t heard more about this book.

Super cute story of a skeleton cat that always wanted to be a drummer and gets his cat when he catches an audition flyer in the graveyard. Dan Krall's illustrations are engaging and fun even when the setting is a cemetrary. This will make a great read aloud in October!!!

My niece Jadyn’s book first, now it’s ours. Such a cute read. (Although I’m surprised it didn’t freak out my squeamish 6 year old.)

Kristyn Crow is allergic to cats, so decided to imagine up the perfect cat for her. Skeleton Cat was brought back from eternal rest. He wakes up, crawls up from his grave, and wonders what is going on. He doesn't understand how this could be happening, but he notices that his bones make a pretty cool beat. He comes across a flyer that says a band is looking for a new drummer. Skeleton Cat knows that he can do this job. Unfortunately, his friends don't believe in him. He has a few problems going through town on the way to the drummer auditions. He finally reaches his destination. Everyone around him doesn't believe that he is right for the job, but in the end he proves everybody wrong. The band is blown away with Skeleton Cat's talent and offer him the job. In the end, Skeleton Cat's dreams come true.

This book is intended for kindergarten through maybe second graders. The pictures are fun, the language is entertaining, and the story line is very appealling to younger students.

I believe that this story is fit for my classroom because it is different and very entertaining. Teachers can use this story to talk about stereotyping and judging people before actually getting to know them. This story is appropriate for the classroom because children can relate to it, but also be entertained by it.

I would use this book in my classroom around the Halloween sesason. It fits in with the holiday and children will be very excited to read something new and different. I also believe that it has a good moral story behind that can help build children's appreciation and character in the long run. I love this story because the illustrations are fun, colorful, and different.

This book is one of my favorites. It rhymes and it has repeating sound words which is fun for the kids. The book starts off with a skeleton cat being risen from the dead by lightning and he rediscovers what he has wanted to do. He hears his bones rattling and decides he wants to become a drummer in a band. He takes his journey to the auditions and impresses everyone with his talent. He joins the band and rocks out all night long.
This book would be for kindergarteners to second grade
They could learn about rhyming words and sound words and also how books can repeat a sequence more than once in the story.
They would love this book around Halloween time as a treat and something fun to read.
I would use this around Halloween for rhyming teaching and fun.

"Skeleton Cat" is an awesomely illustrated children's book about a cat who by a flash of lightening is given a 10th life to live. As a skeleton he decides to do the one thing he always wanted to- play drums! The ghosts in the graveyard say he can't do it because he's only a skeleton, but he sets out to give it his best shot. Through rhyming sing son g storytelling this story was just as enjoyable to read as it was to look at the illustrations. We'll be reading this one for a few more years. I bought my copy from Scholastic school book order, but you can get a copy on Amazon.

A catchy rhyming read
Skeleton cat awakes from the grave with a big dream. He wants to be a drummer. Despite the discouragement from the other ghost and ghouls of the graveyard, when he sees a flyer for an audition that night, Skeleton Cat makes his was across town. As he rattles and shakes, clinks and ka-plinks, Skeleton Cat finds his beat. But will he find his perfect band too?
With silly rhymes, an upbeat attitude, and catchy illustrations, Skeleton Cat makes a great read out loud.
Recommended for readers age 4-8.

Crow, K. (2012). Skeleton Cat (p. 32). Scholastic.

This book would a great Halloween book. Skeleton Cat is about a cat that is ready to rock out on his tenth life. The cat strolls through the city to follow his dream of becoming a drummer. This story is great for kids because it is fun and upbeat, it also influences kids to follow their dreams.

An activity to do for the story is to have the kids make a band of their own. Each crew of kids design their instruments out of craft material, then performs a short song for their classmates.

When Skeleton Cat wakes in a graveyard as a skeleton he decides to chase his lifelong dream of being drummer. Come with him as he practises his rhythm on the way to an audition.

This book is filled with imagination and onomatopoeia. The rhythm is great and lends itself well to being read aloud. The pictures are colourful and illustrate the story well.
