About the author

Kari Chaplin is a stay home parent of three wonderful children. She lives in Norman, Oklahoma with her husband and children. After she, hesitantly, allowed one person to view her partial draft, her fan base began to quickly grow. Publication became a reality from the pressures and begging of her followers. Her love of writing grows with every word. Darkness Awakens is her first published work and first installment of the Darkness Awakens Series. Look for more books in the near future. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! The whole book kept you on your toes, and then the ending came and BOOM, you want more!!! I didn't want this to end! Vessi is amazing, Myra is amazing, Demien is swoon-worthy!! I seriously could not get enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to read this!

WOW! I can't believe I hadn't heard of this author before. Darkness Awakens is a must read for sure. The first chapter had me intrigued, the second had me cracking up with laughter and the third...it will leave you craving more and more. I said it before and I'll say it again. I highly recommend this book. It a suspenseful, mysterious, hang on the edge of your seat sort of story. I will not go into detail on this book due to spoilers. All I can say is I could not put it down. Kari Chaplin had me in an uproar of questions on what was happening and what was going to happen next. Darkness Awakens is very well written and if I could give it more stars I would. Wonderful job! Can't wait for the next installment. (Prologue for next book at the end)

I was not to sure if I would finish this book because I was confused a lot through it but I am so glad I kept reading! The story turned out to be a really good read. This book kept my heart pounding and wondering what was happening next. Demien is a character that you love when he is being nice and one you hate when he lets his evil show. Vanessa takes a little getting used to you. She sounds so childish in instances that I wanted to reach in the book and throttle her! I'm hoping that she will redeem herself in the next book. I recommend this book if you like mystery & suspense. I cannot wait for the next book.

Vanessa works in a small town bar when a stranger arrives. She is drawn to him from the beginning but part of her is determined to stay away from him. He knows her well and for some reason she seems to know him but Vanessa is about to find out who she truly is and how much danger that she is in.
This book grips you from the beginning to the end. This is the first book i have read by this author and I am so glad that i did. I really did not want it to end and i cant wait to see what happens in the next book.

A seemingly normal life is turned upside down with the entry of a handsome but familiar looking stranger. Vanessa finds herself oscillating between reality and dreams both dominated by him.
If you love a fast-paced narration, with a mysterious cloud hovering over the protagonist's life this one is a good pick.

A great debut novel! A friend recommended this book, so I read it without reading the blurb. I was intrigued from the first chapter and having no idea what I was getting into, I found this book even more fun. I was surprised at some twists and laughed out loud in parts.
