When an ambitious young woman falls for the new boss that snags a position the corner office she had hoped to secure, you have to wonder about her state of mind. After a chance meeting on the elevator on his first day, the attraction build and she soons finds herself in love with her boss. The passion is palpable and the love scenes steamy. There is something mysterious about him and a friend tries to convince her that he has a nefarious past. But his real story is both surprising and touching. Despite the disapproval of her family and friends she leaves London to move with him to New York. I don't want to spoil the story but the "secret" comes out and Holly, our heroine, decides that she loves him enough to stand by her man. That is until someones plots to change her mind using fear and the threat of blackmail . I will say that the description of the book is a little misleading in that it conveys a more dangerous circumstance than is actually warranted. The story is about love, loyalty, loss, new love, betrayal and family interference. The characters are likable although you wonder at the sanity of young Holly as she balances her desire to be a successful professional and find love. The she uproots herself to follow a man across the ocean even when she learns of his unusual family circumstances. The book is divided into two books for no reason I can not understand since neither is particularly long. The two offerings cannot stand alone so read book 1 first but you will want to move on to book 2. My rating and review covers both books.
