Harbingers #12

The Village

Rate this book
The team arrives in Newland, North Carolina, confused, uncertain, and emotionally wounded. Expecting the kind of warm greeting that is legendary in southern towns, they find instead a village whose people want nothing more than to force the “tourists” to move on, something our team refuses to do. Then, in a blink of an eye, a painful transition takes place. Everything changes—and not for the good. Newland has become New Land, a place similar to the one where they had just spent the night. Sadly, similar isn’t enough. With the help of someone they remember as a lost little girl, they undertake the most challenging mystery they’ve ever faced. They must succeed; the lives of scores of people as well as their own depend on the solving of a problem they barely understand. The clock is running out for them and it is running fast.

Littlefoot returns

Remember footprints in the snow from book 4? Well she's back for an out of this world adventure...think Twilight Zone. This adventure like the previous books grab hold with a new mystery that doesn't let you breathe until the last page.

Great Series

I stumbled upon this series awhile ago. Alton Gansky along with Angela Hunt, Frank Peretti and Bill Myers (all established authors) each write from a continuing characters point of view of the story. The book The Village is part of is The Probing. I highly recommend you start from the first book The Invitation. I know this sounds confusing but once you start reading you'll understand.

Another superb story in this mind-bending series. The “village” is unlike any you’re likely to encounter this side of the multi-verse. It was also great to see the amazing “Littlefoot” back in action.

*I picked this book randomly and started with this one. Idk if it needs to be read in order*

Definitely out of the norm of what I’d usually go for..

This episode is written in the voice of Tank. I do like Tank. The gentle giant and healer of the group.

Our reduced team of four is sent to a small town in North Carolina which is for all intents and purposes deserted. Except for a handful of people who hardly roll out the red carpet when our team arrives. And then there's one real strange character who Tank nicknames Tockticky.

After an unsettled first night, they seek out some breakfast and soon thereafter things get really weird. Alternative reality weird. Surprisingly, an old friend re-appears, Littlefoot, who is no longer little, in fact is all grown up.

Together with their old friend our gang must discover the way to get back and solve the mystery of why the village is so deserted.

This is lots of fun if you allow your imagination to go a little wild.
