A Modern Twist on an Ancient Evil

Tales of vampires in New Orleans are as old as the city itself. Legendary spirits haunt every dark alley, lurking in the shadows and around every corner. But there are some creatures of the night that you won't hear about on the ghost tours.

For centuries, The Eyes of The Sun have used their genetic superiority to rule from the shadows, preying on the weak and manipulating those in positions of power. Their ultimate goal: immortality.

But when the balance of power becomes too one sided, humanity adapts. The Eyes of The Sun are no longer the only ones with superior genetics in their favor. The hunted have become hunters and one woman in particular may hold the key to taking the ancient organization down once and for all.

There's only one problem.

How can she take a life without becoming the very thing she is meant to destroy?

This collection contains all three books in the series, The Eyes of The Sun:

Christina McMullen is a sci-fi and urban fantasy author who dreams of jetpacks and electric sheep.

Christina enjoys travel, vegan cooking, modern and classic art, and championing the progressive nature of ebooks and independent authors. She is obsessed with robots and the internet, and revels in the fact that she was fortunate enough to have been born in an era where she was able to witness the 'future' finally come into being. And for the record, the year 2000 will forever be the future no matter how far it falls into the past. Call it a perk of growing up at the end of a millennium.

In 2014, she took a vow to read and review only independently published authors. It is unlikely that this will ever change as she has since dedicated the time when she is not writing to further push independent publishing into the mainstream.

For not really being into the vampire genre anymore, I wasn't completely sure I'd enjoy this series. I mean, I've seen enough sexy vampire garbage to last me a lifetime and I haven't read 99% of it. But I am completely devoted to Christina McMullen's writing so I couldn't not read them. I am so happy I did. These books take an over used mythos and spins it into something that's more original than anything else you'll read that's similar. The characters and engagin and well-written and the plot lines draw you in and keep you turning the pages.

All praise be to Christina McMullen and her delightful talent for wordery.

This trilogy involves Lucy who is now alone in the world. Her mother died years earlier and she never knew who her father was. Lucy was then raised by her politician Grandmother who had little time for her. Once her Grandmother dies, Lucy decides to quit college, where she was studying law to appease her late grandmother, and venture to New Orleans to try to locate her unknown father. With little to go on, Lucy takes a job at a seamstress/costume shop and rents an apartment upstairs of it. She meets an attractive man at the coffee shop one day and accepts a date proposal. That’s when things get really strange for Lucy. Her date is a vampire but when he attempts to drain the blood from Lucy, he quickly dies instead. Lucy learns that she has an enzyme in her blood that is fatal to vampires. She learns that many vampire hunters have this enzyme in their blood but at a much lower level. Her blood makeup seems to be an anomaly which we learn more and more about as the story progresses.
There were many twists and turns in this series and they kept my interest. Just when one mystery is solved more take its place. The characters are very well-drawn and the story is fast-paced and action packed. Unique vampires that are created through genetic cloning and enhancements. Highly Recommended

Not your typical vampire story

Especially vampires that live in NewOrleans. There are no lestats here, but you will find hunters and genetically modified vamps that drink more coffee that anyone else.
