Stunned by the cryptic words spoken by Namine, Roxas desperately tries to uncover the true connection to his dream-self, Sora. For her part, Namine wants to help Roxas in his quest, but she'll have to act quickly before DiZ succeeds in his plan to "dispose" of her. And then there is the question of Axel--and just whose side he is really on...The fantastic adventure of Kingdom Hearts continues!

IRB 6 - I loved part 2 of chain of memories, i t explains so much about the second character Riku and his past. It shows wat he goes through and how he tries to redeem his wrong doings. He's a twlight which is someone whos both good and evil, in the end though he decides to stay with the light and chose to protect his friends at all cost to be his mission of redepmtion.

Naminé is so cute and pure. I love her so much. I had troubles keeping track of some of the members of the organization, but other than that, I really loved this manga.
Sora continues his journey through Castle Oblivion and his memories, only to regain a very special one. Only is it? Just who is Namine? And who did Sora forget in order to remember her? All the while, Riku keeps trudging through the darkness, fighting against it within and without. All the while, Organization XIII monitors and schemes how to control the two heroes and/or pit them against each other. Not all the member, however, want the same thing…
Organization XIII got much more interesting, even while they fell to each other’s weapons and plots. I’m still wondering just what Axel wants. Riku got a really good arc with a beautiful conclusion, promising to lead to future stories. Sora, on the other hand, got quite frustrating, although he came through in the end. Goofy got to do a bit more by urging Donald through his crisis of faith. The villains were a lot of fun and I was sorry to see many of them bite the dust. Parts of the story were disappointing, but others made up for them. Once more, everything was depicted in a striking art style which was a treat to look at. For all of these qualities, I give this four stars.
The Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories manga confirms in literary form that it was useless addition to the series. Repeated bosses, repeated story lines, repeated everything-if convenient to the plot. Plus, I'm still sore about that card system. That card system may have been the precursor to what the wonderful Kingdom Hearth UX is now, but back when Chain of Memories came out, it was a baaaaaad idea.
Plus, Jafar literally gets defeated THE SAME WAY as he did in KH1. How could one plot be the same, but all the other worlds get different story lines?!?!?! The inconsistency is annoying. If you're going to base worlds on Sora's memories, at least give it a linear progression. (And yes, I know the nature of Castle Oblivion. That's no excuse.)
These are pretty quick reads. I'm getting through them, so I have a refresher on the series overall before KH3 comes out (when it ever eventually does).
Verdict: Not necessary to the series except for the introduction of Organization XIII and nobodies. Couldn't they have been introduced better? 2/5 stars
This one was...less fun for me to revisit. I do adore the characterizations of Namine (it's seriously not that hard to give girls a little pep, game developers, you might want to take some pointers from Amano here) and, once again, the featured Organization XIII members. The main issue I have here is the fights aren't as interesting as they are in the games. Which is sort of a weird thing to say, but there were some great action-y panels in Death Note, for example, and that's not necessarily an action-filled manga most of the rest of the time. Considering how epic the battles are in scope in the KH games, one would think the manga would carry some of that over. With the exception of Sora's confrontation with Marluxia, most of these fights felt pretty anti-climatic. Especially here, where you get so much more story and build-up and then...it has a rushed ending.
I think there's a reason why I read this one only twice and the first CoM manga four times, oop.
Chain Of Memories V2 PLOT: (I'm going to do this differently) WHO: Sora, Donald, Goofy, And Riku (A & B storylines) WHERE: Castle Oblivion WHEN This takes place right after the events of KINGDOM HEARTS WHAT: Castle Oblivion is a place where as soon as you enter you lose all your memories but you start remembering things you've forgotten. There's a group of black hood's that call themselves The Organization & we're introduced to 6 of them. They're headed by the leader MARLUXIA (who for a long time I thought was a woman). The Organization is split in loyalty. Some of them want to over-throw it & use a girl they have locked away named NAMINE (because she has the ability of creating, replicating, and erasing memories and implanting what she wants you to see) to tamper with Sora's memories so she can (they can) use him as their puppet because of the strength of his heart (and being the bearer of the Keyblade). One of the members takes some of Rikki's data and creates a clone and his also implanted with false memories to test Sora. While the real Riku is also at Castle Oblivion and fighting ANSEM (or who we think is Ansem's) attempts to control him again due to the darkness still left inside him. WHY: (SORA) All this happens to lead him to what's really important to him. I'll spoil that for you. It's KAIRI. (NAMINE) She does all this because she's at the Castle for a long unspecified amount of time and she's lonely. Yup, you heard me right. Great reason to mess with someone's mental capability. (THE ORGANIZATION) MARLUXIA & LARXENE's motives in this are to overthrow the Organization. But the thing is I have NO IDEA why. (AXEL)- Remains a mystery.(DIZ)-Remains a mystery.(RIKU)- To be tested (FAKE RIKU) to be used in an attempt to toy with Sora. But at the end of this, he finds his real purpose and even though he's given a fake memory. He makes it a real purpose and that's to protect NAMINE
MY THOUGHTS: WHAT A MOVIE THIS WOULD MAKE! This WHOLE series! Seriously Disney get on that. In fact what a theme park this would make! I have ALWAYS LOVED (even more than the gameplay itself sometimes) the RICH, LAYERED, storyline's involved in this series. Honestly, this wasn't one (game wise) I took to. Simply because of the awkward card style system. (Glad that was never repeated) Thus I didn't get very far into the game itself and the story. So around about Issue 10, it starts to haze up on me. As I'm reading the comic (which I won't go into my feelings in this review like I have the previous one on the black and white hard to understand interpretations of this INCREDIBLE series. Let's just say it leaves a lot to be desired and leave it there) I'm scanning my brain (almost to the point of wanting to plug in my game or dig out my strategy guide) to place the other girl on the Island as Namine. You know the one in Kingdom Hearts in the short, yellow, dress, you run up to, that only has one line? I think she's standing off to herself. Only to learn NO. Her name was Selphie? So who the heck was Namine. Then I again became confused and went back to my own memories (which I know weren't false and tampered with) that someone DID indeed give Sora a good luck star charm but it wasn't Namine. And it happened not during a meteor storm but after he won a race against Riku. I started to wonder was Namine even real? But here's a tip. In order to understand the beauty and the complexities of this story, I had to watch a couple of things.
(which let me tell you felt like a movie in itself and was just as long to watch as this comic was to read). But it was VERY WORTH IT! If you have the patience. The confusion from this comic you might have if you watch these video's AND Riku's edition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh4HZ...
(which features his story's cutscenes without the gameplay) you'll go from HUNH to OOO by the end of it. I PROMISE! And that's how dedicated I was too understanding this comic. Of course, you don't get off THAT easy cause, in the end, you'll still have questions. You'll probably be thinking stuff like. Do I trust this Diz? How's Team KH gonna come out when they awaken from the sleeping pod? What's Axel's REAL end game in all this? Axel mentions they're "No-bodies". Do we even get to know what that means? Etc. Have we seen the end of The Organization? What I think tho that's VERY CLEVER (and I don't know if it was intended to be played this way) but. One of the things you might be thinking as you play this is. HOLD UP! WAIT A MINUTE! It didn't go that way (when you get to the part where he visits the worlds). I think there was only one in these issues (Agrabah) BUT when you think about Namine tampering with his memories you think ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT! Of course, they're slightly different from the original stories in KH. Because if they were the very same it would be the same game in a different location. And who'd buy the same game twice?
RATING: I'm torn on what to rate this. The story in itself about the Castle where you literally lose your mind is creative and original. And it put all KINDS of crazy thoughts in my head about what if this could actually be a part of something bigger. Say a park attraction? Where you could go and lose yourself. The characters were mysterious and keep me guessing about their motives. But then I had to rely on other sources to fully see and understand up to a point what I was reading in the comic. So I'll give this an 81/2 and won't take too many points off for execution because well. There's only so much you can do with ink.
This was a fast-paced manga compared to the last, but it's understandable considering this is along the lines of repeats. A majority of the main parts of the story were kept in place, with the author putting in his own creations. I liked how the stories of Riku and Sora were put together instead of having them separate as in the game. It gave more sense of a story than feeling lost and in need of reading another story to fill in the missing parts.
I do think the humor in this was over-stepped, especially when it came to Vexen. Not only this, not much of his "intellect" was expressed in the story. This is where it felt the little bit of holes were missing. Lastly, there are a few typos here and there.
NOTE: This is still consistent with being at "teenager" level of reading.
Veramente bello!
As Sora, Donald and Goofy continue through Castle Oblivion, seeking a girl who looks strangely like Kairi, Riku faces the hooded foes while dealing with his inner darkness - and unless they can all learn what the castle is truly hiding, none of them will make it out the same as when they entered! Amano keeps the wild ride going with more action and great character in this exciting conclusion. Who is that girl, and what can she reveal about the hooded figures?
The second volume is SO MUCH BETTER than the first one. I wonder why they wasted so much ink & time & paper for the first one, since it was full of useless moments lol. That being said, these two mangas do not do justice to the story AT ALL. But at least, the story is picking up in vol. 2, following the actual story. Glad I got it for 1€ only :)
I feel a like I have a little bit better understanding of what happened between KH1 & KH2. Not my favorite, and I wish I could have just played the game instead, but this was pretty enjoyable to read.
Man, Sora forget Kairi...wow but he meet namine- kairi's heart.Namine changed Sora's memories because the 13 organization force her to do it or not they might hurt her or sora or sora friends. How long Sora wake up from his dream

As Sora and the gang venture further into Castle Oblivion, they quickly begin to learn the meaning behind the words "to lose is to find, and to find is to lose." Donald fears that if they press on much further, they may lose sight of the real reason they came here, to find King Mickey and Riku. His fear is ever intensified as he witnesses Sora lose memories of his precious girl back home, and gain new ones of a similar girl named Namine, who he makes his new focus to rescue. But does Namine truly belong in Sora's memories? Will our heroes ever find their way out of this labyrinth, or even their lost memories..? And what was the real reason Sora, his friends, and Riku were all brought to Castle Oblivion?
"Here in Castle Oblivion, to lose is to find, and to find is to lose..." Finally Sora, Donald, and Goofy learn the true meaning of these words, and the reason behind why their memories are erased and altered as they adventure further into the castle. As Sora's memories of Kairi fades, they are replaced with false memories of a young girl named Namine. Searching fervently for her to rescue her, and battling against the replica of Riku who also shares the exact same memories and promise with Namine, the truth behind Organization XIII's methods is revealed. Two of the aboveground members, Marluxia and Larxene, plan to take over Organization XIII by using Sora's power. But for what reason...? I don't understand... And why was Riku doing practically nothing but battling the darkness within himself this entire time? Ahh, and I like Axel. Axel, being the only loyal member remaining, decides to take matters into his own hands, by "eliminating the traitor" as he somewhat stays on both sides of the game. I would say that he 'played' both sides, but he never did actually agree to Marluxia's plan, as he had stated. But wow, as the Kingdom Hearts story progresses, so does its complexity and sentimentality. The art style has seemed to improve as well. It's become less Disney, and simply more of its own thing. I guess this is the end of Sora, Donald, and Goofy's arc, huh? I know they come back at some point, but isn't that in Dream Drop Distance? A game that came out more than ten years after Chain of Memories? Oh well. If I am loyal to the chronology of the story, I suppose that I will find out eventually. I hope to see more Riku, Namine, Axel, and Roxas... the new protagonist who was made from Sora's false (or true) memories... wasn't he? I could be incorrect. Heh, I suppose that will be yet another thing I will find out! Lastly, it seems that for a spin-off of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts is somehow making it its very own thing while still slightly holding on to the essence of Final Fantasy. Strange... Both always battle darkness against light, yet don't make the darkness out to be something to be hated, but rather feel understanding for. Darkness is something that can be accepted and embraced, or understood but kept at bay for the rest of a person's life. And while the light can sting, anyone may still find a rewarding reason to bask in it, just as anyone could for the darkness as well. It isn't something we're tainted with or born with, it's a choice we make. It's the type of strength we choose to draw from, and the type of weakness we choose to gain or lose. That is what Kingdom Hearts has taught me.
Sequels as many may say, are 't as good as they predecessor, however some are quite successful, however Kingdom Hearts franchise has a bizarre tendency to released spin off or prequel or in between games that brought a lot of confusion along the way.
If you all remember, in 2002 Kingdom Hearts came out for the first time, then later out came in not to far 2005, 2006 Kingdom Hearts 2. While playing the first game we are thrown with a different beginning, our all favorite cheerful protagonist Sora, is replace by someone with barley even know and enemies we never even heard of. Now, why isn't that a big issue? Simple, you just haven't played Kingdom Hearts sequel for the Gameboy Advance game, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. Now, I don't blame, cause hey, even I didn't know the game existed until people told me why and explain the entire confusion the plot in Kingdom Hearts 2 exploded right at my face. You see, if you don't play the game first, before starting Kingdom Hearts 2 you will be left in dark, throwing wild guesses at what or why things are as what they are, but thankfully you're lucky guess a PS version of that game, came out right after Kingdom Hearts 2, Rechain of Memories, and later on in 2013/4 came the HD collection game that included both first games, KH1 and KH RE:COM.
The story, just like before continues, after Sora and his friends succeeded at stopping the evil Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, plot of blanket all the worlds in darkness by using Kingdom Hearts. After they sealed the door and say their goodbyes, Sora and his friends, Donald Duck and Goofy are set to find out Riku and King Mickey and bring them back home. Nothing in never that easy for our heroes as they stumbled into a mysterious Castle called Castle Oblivion by a shady man in a black robe. What is his intentions? And are Riku and King Mickey really there, waiting for our heroes? To find out you either are have to play the game or read the adaption of the manga.
Unlike the previous edition of the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, (the Yen Press Omnibus manga Books) this book (Which I have the original Tokyopop edition and the new Yen Press, which somebody has to open a page for...) has... a complicated setting and pacing. Which of course is not Shiro Amano fault, but the game or perhaps the manga magazine publisher or his editor, for cutting this story so short into only 2 volumes giving him so little to work on with so much concept and story invested in the game, including the old worlds our heroes visited in the past inside their memories, and the secret Riku side of the story after you finished the game.
All of those thing makes the adaption of that game a collateral damage and a mess to read, but luckily Shiro Amano somehow... help to save the day thanks to his splendid work of art, and his way of thinking on how to try to split this story into two, Sora and Riku's stories and combined the two beautiful, despite giving our heroes to developed more.
Now, this version of manga isn't bad, it's okay, not good, but okay, and should help you pass the time, but if you want to understand things even better, I suggest you played the game and finally catch on with the story my dear friends :D

I actually really really really like this one! Maybe it's because this is the only Kingdom Hearts game i did not fully play but that's because it was in gameboy when it came out but I'm too lazy to get the Re: COM on PS2... So you can base this review on a person that has never finished the actual game and red this this no back experience of playing COM (but I played the ALL the other games). Anyway's I really got Namine's feelings towards in this. It gave me a new more detail on Sora as a person. And I have to admit it was pretty funny at some parts and the funny parts weren't even your typical Japanese Manga jokes if you know what I'm saying. So I loved it. If I would have played the game first I might have had a different perspective.
Anyways, real review. The best thing about this manga (and the one for 358/2 Days) is the extra characterization it adds. I love all the little bits of personality it gives to the characters, especially the Organization. (Zexion the supreme chef, har.) It's just so much fun. I also like how it handles the fights: the 'ha ha I was just testing you' battles against the Org. in the game were fine, but I like this better, where Sora and co. are legitimately outmatched (or outsmarted) and it is made very clear that yes, the Org. just tossed them a gimme to lure them farther into Castle Oblivion.
On the whole, very well done. I need to replay the game now!
and you think things couldn't get even more complicated ! loved the characters , story line and the ending in this one. i had so many feels ! namine *cries* the ending always affect me so many "twists" in this one. i felt some aspects of the story were not explained properly but still i managed to understand as much as possible but still that's what i love about KH it challenges your brain to recollect previous events and connect the dots , it has this mystery that i thrive for !
we meet the organization 13 "nobodies" and their characters are so interesting.
SPOILER ALERT: Namine and sora's farewell, that scene alone deserves a 5 stars. always make me emotional. "we'll meet again right ? don't cry i'll come back because..." FEELS
I had to have this book ever since I saw the cover. I love Riku, yes it's possible to think video game/manga characters are cute. And yes, he is super cute. I know most girls think that if you like a guy, no girl is good enough for him. I'm different, I want him to start dating in the Kingdom Hearts series, I'm sure he'd choose a great girl. Anyways, about the book, I found it a great second volume and a final volume to Chain of Memories. I even enjoyed the shorts at the end.
This was a game that was just meant to sell to Kingdom Hearts fans, but without really adding anything.
There are a lot of things that are thrown at the reader that make it seem like something is happening but it never seems to be consequential (who cares if a character introduced six panels ago is dead?)
And also the panels are too jerky. It's not generally clear what the pacing in the story is.
