As the body count rises, a few tearful reunions mark the only bright spots in the hellscape that is Tenjin Elementary School. The child ghosts from the gruesome murders thirty years ago have a tight grip on the school, but if the remaining students of Kisaragi Academy's class 2-9 can put those souls to rest, they might have a chance of escaping this death trap!
When hope is hanging by a thread, what will it take to make it snap...?
I think the premise of this series is really interesting but the execution just doesn’t work for me. I don’t know if this could be because of a language translation error but the author simultaneously shows us and tells us what’s happening at the same time. Continuously. It gets very repetitive and painful to read. I’ll buy the last instalment to complete the series but I wouldn’t recommend it. The characters decision making and comprehension of the events are so chaotic, but not in a way that benefits the story telling. It comes across as these characters being insanely naive and sporadic. Again, this could work had it been executed differently. The series also info dumps a lot on you as the reader, which isn’t fun when you get to the twist. The part where two of the characters have to find the deceased children’s body parts to return home felt more like a poor video game objective in the way it was executed.
I also don’t feel any peril for these characters, despite them getting killed off. Some injuries hinder them when the plot needs it to but other times the plot armour is insanely thick.
Also, I understand this is an issue throughout manga and anime and is not just inherent in this volume, but the way some of the characters are portrayed are really disturbing and oddly sexualized. I refer mainly to an illustration where the underage girls are shown without clothes.
I hope these complaints are simply related to this manga being translated into a different language for western audiences since when reading the author’s and illustrator’s notes at the end you can really tell they all really care about their work and the fans. It makes me want to enjoy it and root for them but I just can’t with the end product.
To close off this far too lengthy review that I doubt anyone will regard, if this was in my library in middle school I probably would have read it and enjoyed it. However, now being in university and having been exposed to more horror manga that are simply better executed I can’t find myself recommending it to anyone. I’m glad that this series seems to be succeeding, though, and it has garnered a fan base. Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean I want the author to fail.

I think I am giving it a 5/5 stars because I played the game and the book seems to give a little more to the story then what the game had done. There is some extra parts in the manga that I never say in the game. Not sure about if they did a remake. But thew creepy vibs are running wild in this book and I am enjoying every min of it. If you like the game i would say go and pick up the mang
This is just a ghoulish exhibit -- not really a story. Even the art is just so-so. I don't have volume 4 (if it was even published) and I'm glad. I do have Corpse Party Book of Shadows, but I'll let that sit for a while.
Vol 3. of the Corpse Party: Blood Covered manga. Once again, another great thriller adventure. Still retaining the level of gore and blood you may have enjoyed from the previous two volumes. It continues off right after the last Vol.
Although the first half of this is a bit slow, in the second we start to get real, honest-to-goodness answers, which makes the series a lot more interesting than when it's just random horrors happening nonstop.
