Absolutely wonderful cook book. How to make a beautiful high biscuit; fried green tomatoes and all kinds of jams and butters. I may have to buy this one; after all we love biscuits and gravy!

I am totally buying this book. I love biscuits, so when I saw this I had to get my local library to buy this. First the book breaks down all of the different kinds of biscuits that you can make. (this is actually a bakery/eating place in North Carolina). There is another section for things that you can put on it like gravies and what not. Another chapter on what you can put into your biscuit, like pimento cheese! There are sides, different eggs and finally what everyone loves sweets. I am one who loves a picture with every recipe, this book there wasn't but that didn't matter. The ones that do not have pictures are ones like the gravies. I don't really need a picture of that to know how it is supposed to turn out. I LOVE THIS!!!!

All you have to say when it comes to food is biscuits - and I'm in! I wasn't familiar with the Biscuit Head restaurant in Asheville, NC before reading this cookbook, but now that I know about it I'll definitely check it out next time we're there. There is not much better than a really good Southern biscuit and this cookbook does not disappoint! The first chapter is biscuit recipes, then there are chapters about what to put "on your biscuit," "in your biscuit," and "on the side." There are definitely some recipes I'd like to try and if you're a fan of Southern biscuits for any meal then this cookbook is for you!

Ok Y’all, this book is the real deal for Southern cooking. I can’t wait to get to work cooking these dishes. It makes you hungry just looking through it, which is understandable with recipes like, Chocolate Gravy, Cathead Biscuits, Boiled Peanut Falafel, Buttermilk ice cream, Grits, Jams, Marmalades, Mimosas Fried Chicken, and so much more. The problem will be where to start because absolutely everything sounds so damn good!

I grew up in Texas, but I was never that big of a fan of biscuits. However, I am interested in baking my own. The cookbook has 7 biscuit recipes and pairing ideas for each biscuit. There are also tons of recipes for toppings like gravies, jams, and butters as well as for sides, eggs, and sweets.
There are a lot of photos, and it is helpful to see what the biscuits and all the other recipes look like.
As a vegetarian there are some recipes I will not make like the bacon ones, but there are plenty I can try like the chicken-fried tofu and quinoa scramble. Some recipes also bring me back to my childhood like the pimento cheese and hush puppies recipes.
Overall, this is a wonderful cookbook if you like biscuits as it as includes recipes for biscuits as well as recipes for toppings, things to put in your biscuit, and sides.

I have yet to try any of the recipes, but 3 things stand out to me about this cookbook: first, they give away ALL their secrets. Seriously, nothing is as delicious as the mimosa fried chicken biscuit at Biscuithead, and the entire recipe is here. Bravo!
Second, it is a FUN read that teaches very well. It feels like sitting down with a friend who is over-explaining things because you're new to this and she wants you to get it right. They explain why this thickening agent or when canning is appropriate or why you should use butter and not lard. It's instructional without being bogged down by details. Definitely worth getting.

Got this in a digital cookbook bundle.
I've only heard about biscuit and gravy, never tried it, but I'm glad to learn about it. This cookbook was a little disappointing though, there's very few actual biscuit recipes, the majority of them are things to put on / in them. The dessert ideas seemed good though, as they actually involved biscuits. There are some side dishes too, but what really surprised me was the egg recipes. Seriously, how to fry an egg? There were a lot of really basic recipes in here, and it just felt like they were trying to pad out the book, which isn't very big.

Lovely images, and well-configured cookbook. :) I'm a fan of biscuits, so it was fun to see so many variations on the theme.

The main thing that detracted from this book were how many of the recipes centred on frying. I'm just not a deep fryer person... I like my arteries. ;) That said, the mimosa fried chicken looked amazing and my husband wanted me to make it with waffles and syrup on the spot (it was 10pm, so we decided not to).

All in all, we had a great time going through every page while I read things off in a faux Southern accent to make my hubby smile.

I think the sign of a good cookbook is that it makes you hungry and also makes you think “I can and want to make this!”. Biscuit Head did that for me and I’m now seriously considering learning to can. They also use ice cream scoops for their biscuits and I’m not over it. Sourdough was too high maintenance for me but biscuits are always my jam. Love the biscuit recipes but also the side dishes and other entrees (mimosa fried chicken!). Definitely adding this to my personal library.

Some very delicious recipes within this cookbook. Some very creative ones, too. If you're a fan of Southern Food, and a fan of trying something new, this is a perfect blend of both.

A bit of a niche cookbook but still fun to read. :-) nice photography as well. With cook books I tend to eat with my eyes first.... so for me that is a very nice thing. 👍🏻

Checked this out because I thought the name was great (and we love biscuits). Beautifully displayed biscuit creations. Lots of meat.
