Wild at Heart. . .

Wild. Reckless. Stubborn. That's Luke Malloy in a nutshell. The solitary life of a rancher and the untamed Montana wilderness make him feel alive-and nothing will ever change that. Not even being thrown from his horse and forced to accept a stranger's help. The fact that this stranger is a beautiful blonde with a passion for ranching that rivals his own doesn't hurt. But there's a secret she's hiding, and Luke won't rest until he uncovers it...

Ingrid Larsen doesn't need anyone's help. Not with managing her family's ranch. Not with raising her little sister. And certainly not with the mysterious incidents occurring on her property. When this too-sexy-for-his-own-good cowboy needs a place to recover, she hopes he'll be in and out in no time flat. But just as she's beginning to trust Luke's promise of protection, Ingrid's secret threatens to tear them apart.

ARC REVIEW

First time reader of R.C. Ryan and even though this is the second book of the series it can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed this book I loved the characters the plot was enjoyable and very well done. Luke is a knight-errant in a Stenson, if you are looking for an adventurous, daredevil cowboy who isn't going to turn away someone he cares about this is the cowboy you are looking for. Ingrid is a headstrong rancher determined not to lose her family's legacy. Unfortunately her father's untimely death left her mother with the property and left Ingrid and her little sister with the cattle. Ingrid just needs to make it until the spring when she can sell off the herd and buy her birthright from her horrible mother.

Strange things have been happening around Ingrid's property like a fire, someone poisoning her dog; Ingrid is stretched to her limit on keeping things together and her mother's money grubbing hands are not helping. When Luke is photographing a wild herd of mustangs a rifle shot spooks the horses and knocks him off his horse and bangs his head. Ingrid finds him and even though she thinks he's the one who took the shot she takes him back home to tend to his wounds. It's a couple of days before Luke is up and moving around again but one thing he knows for sure is that he can not leave Ingrid alone with her sister and an older, should be retired by now, ranch hand to deal with a pushy neighbor and suspicious activities. Ingrid is suspicious of Luke she doesn't know his motives and assumes her mother's "honky tonk angel" ways will seduce Luke just like every other man around. Luke only has eyes for Ingrid and he's going to work hard to prove to her that he's not going anywhere as long as she needs him. The suspicious activities start to escalate and the sexual tension between Luke and Ingrid intensifies until Ingrid finally gives in and soon realizes she loves him.

I love the fact that right off the bat the prologue establishes just how far Luke is willing to go to help those he loves. I loved that the harder Ingrid wanted to hate Luke the more she loved him. I loved Gracie "Lil'bit" The end was really good a nice climatic ending. Overall a great read.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series - and even though I read book one back in April, and have read hundreds in between, I was immediately back with the Malloys and remembered all the family and their ways. I would highly recommend that you read Matt first, as it will definitely enrich the experience. Luke is a very different brother to Matt, and his rough and ready ways do not really hint at the potential for romance - but read on and find out how he falls!

The start is pretty dramatic, and sets up the first meeting between Ingrid and Luke as being more than just a casual encounter. Once Luke's protective, help others streak is awakened, we can only sit back and watch everything unfold. I loved the larger than life characters than we are given, and the bit parts are just as important as the leads in giving us a well rounded and captivating story.

I loved the brothers' grandparents so much last time, so having them back and helping out, was brilliant - and one cannot fail to mention Yancy and The Great One. The writing brings all these people to life and the backdrop of the Montana mountains makes me think of cowboy films and big open country vistas. These books would definitely convert to film well - although some of the hotter scenes would have to be implied! Oh, and the mystery of the brothers' parents deaths was also reopened ... so will be interesting to see where that goes next too.

Luke and Ingrid are not the usual pairing one might expect, but their romance makes for exciting, happy and hopeful reading - I definitely recommend it to you.

Luke was one sweet man when it came to Ingrid, "he gave her a lazy smile. “Lady, you’re the perfect playmate. Any time you want another day off, I’m your man.” Luke can sometimes get real creative and plan dates:
“First stop, the stream,” he called over his shoulder. With a roar of engines he shouted, “And I promise, no matter who reaches the water first, I’ll scrub your back.”
“And after that?”
“Probably wild sex.”
I enjoyed this book, Luke was just so sweet.

This was such a great addition to the Malloy series! I think I liked it a lot more than the first book, even though this book seemed to ramp up the suspense/action a lot more than Matt's book.

We, of course, met Luke in the first book. He's the middle brother of the Malloy kids. They all live together on the same ranch with such a wonderful family that add so many wonderful qualities to the book. Luke is out riding one day when he's thrown from his horse and is rescued by a pretty young woman, who turns out to be Ingrid.

Ingrid, her sister Lily, their foreman Mick, and the girl's mother, Nadine, all live on the Larsen ranch. Their father died not too long ago and now they're struggling to keep things running. Nadine wants to sell the ranch, but Ingrid convinced her to hold off on selling until the end of the summer when she hopes to sell off the cattle to buy the ranch from her mother.

Ingrid is very closed off. She comes off harsh for the longest time in the beginning since she keeps pushing Luke away and thinking the worst of him without just cause. But I get it. Her mom is someone who ran around on her dad and still acts the same way now, going off for days at a time before returning to wreak havoc on the family. She's comes off very desperate.

Eventually Ingrid gives Luke a fair chance to show that he's a good guy and that he deserves a chance with him. They're very cute together and I love how the carefree Luke brings out the best in Ingrid. I also love how protective Luke is of Ingrid & Lily.

Speaking of Lily. That little girl just warmed my heart. She was such a sweet, smart, bold young girl who knew her way around a ranch and did things I probably couldn't even do. Plus, as a photographer, I admired her skill with a camera and her need to learn more. Her relationship with Gram Gracie was just too adorable! Lily definitely stole the show so many times in this book.

The suspense is actually pretty intense at times. When it all comes to a climax, I found myself in tears. That part was so bittersweet and incredibly sad, but it was also heartwarming.

The epilogue was really cute. I'm looking forward to more from the Malloy clan, especially the uncle Colin.

My one complaint is the cover. That DOES NOT look anything like the Luke who was described.

Luke has always lived life on the wild side, but he also will stop any thing and help those who need it. When he just so happens to land in the life of two sisters he knows his help is needed even though one of them is to stubborn to ask. He will stop at nothing to help them and make sure they are safe, but she is hiding some secrets and he knows he needs to know that first in order to truly help them.
Ingrid has a lot on her plate and she will stop at nothing to protect those she loves, even if it's against someone she loves. When it seems like someone has it out to take over her ranch and do everything in the process to stop her she knows one thing she will protect her sister first and foremost. But when Luke falls into her life she starts to question whats next for the sisters and whats next for the ranch.

I read the first book in this series and feel in love with the Mallory's, so I was super excited to read another in this series and the book did not disappoint. I love the sweet spirit of this family, the values they portray and how they are always will to bring anyone into their fold and help those who need it. I really enjoyed how in this book as well as the first that there is an element of suspense to it and it keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat just to see what happens next. I like how each book has an ending and it doesn't end in a cliff hanger to be picked up the next book. I really hope there is more to come from Colin I so hope he finds his happy ever after and I can not wait to read more from this family. It feels like you are just catching up with friends. This book does have adult content in it so it may not be suitable for all readers. This book is worth the read and is worth every minute of it.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Luke Malloy is the classic middle child. Adventurous, witty, hardworking, reliable and free-spirited. Growing up on the Malloy Ranch, Luke couldn't have asked for more, except for his parents to have survived the car crash that killed them when he was ten, leaving him, older brother Matt and younger brother Reed to be raised by their grandparents. Its clear that Luke loves his grandparents, but there's a longing inside him that wonders if maybe his Dad would have understood his need to take walk the unbeaten path.

Luke also likes to champion the underdog and that's exactly what Ingrid Larsen is. Ingrid found Luke unconscious high in the mountains and lugged him home and out of the storm. In repayment of her kindness, Luke stays at her family's ranch doing chores and getting to know the quiet and closed off Ingrid.

When Luke meets her mother, Nadine, he begins to understand Ingrid and the reasons she has to be the way she is. Ingrid is basically a one woman show. She's running the ranch without the benefit of any ranch hands, dealing with late notices, missing cattle and potentially no feed for her herd during the winter months. All Luke sees is a gorgeous woman who stands tall and proud. Fearless and courageous in the face of danger.

Luke knows that getting Ingrid to like him will take time, but being the free spirit that he is, he knows once he can get Ingrid to play and relax with him, she'll love him in no time.

Luke is the very first book I have read by R.C.Ryan. When I read the blurb and saw the cover I was immediately intrigued, so when I got a chance to read this book I was so excited to read it and I absolutely loved it!

In this book we mainly follow Luke and Ingrid and I just love these two together. At first they came off as complete opposite but as they got closer you could see that they were perfect for each other .The romance in this book was absolutely perfect, it was sweet ,sexy and swoon worthy. I loved reading Ingrid and Luke story and I couldn't be happier with how things turned out for them. This book was set in Montana and I just loved the setting. There was so much going on in this story and I loved that was never a dull moment. I was reading this book nonstop because I just had to find out what would happen next. R.C.Ryan creates an excellent book with Luke

Luke by R.C Ryan gave me everything I could possible want from this story a sexy romance, a beautiful setting ,drama and of course a very hot cowboy. I can't wait to see what R.C. Ryan writes next. If you have all the things in your book just to get a copy

Being from a farming background in Montana, I have really enjoyed this series. Luke and Ingrid's story had mystery, discovery, and love. I enjoyed every element! I loved Luke's attention to Ingrid's situation, which includes her adorable younger sister that everyone treats extra special! I love how this entire family comes together to help others. Their compassion for those around them, even when it brings danger to their own, is an element of each of these books I have loved.

Note: I received a review copy of this title courtesy of the audiobook publisher, Hachette.

Luke Malloy was the middle brother in the family and was probably the wildest one but when he met Ingrid Larsen, she tamed him down quite a lot. Ingrid rescued Luke after a serious fall from his horse and then Luke decided that Ingrid and her sister needed help on their ranch so he stayed to pay back her kindness. This has some mystery and romance and I enjoyed the book very much.

Loved this "cowboy" romance. I was caught up in the story from the very start and couldn't wait to see what developed. This is the first book by this author that I've read, and I'm now anxious to read others.

Out of the 3 stories, I think this one was my favorite of the series. It just seemed more believable. I love the whole Malloy family and the way they embrace newcomers. I liked how strong Ingrid is and love how caring Luke is. Lily was a great distraction. I really liked the epilogue.

LUKE is book 2 of R.C. Ryan’s The Malloys of Montana series. It is a delightful cowboy story filled with family, wild mustangs, dangers, and a sizzling attraction between Luke Malloy and Ingrid Larsen. R.C. Ryan uses the wild beauty of Montana as the backdrop of LUKE.

Good book. Good characters, nice plot, nice setting and good flow.
The main female character reaction when shots were fired at the end seemed a bit off but it also seemed right........so basically after first read it was like ugh...but the author redeem the character almost immediately after.
Nice ending with a hint of cliffhanger to the next books.

I read that someone mention that the cover saddle is a kid saddle........i think the cover is nice for the imaginative than the realistic.......but the cover didn't capture the ponytail in the main character.....and unless it was mentioned he was going to cut it off, it didn't seem like the character had a pony tail.

good book....decent read.......to me it's worth reading.

Luke is book two in the Malloys of Montana Series, but can be read as a standalone. This book is easy to lose yourself in. The outside world didn't exist while I was reading about Luke and Ingrid; that's how good this book was! I absolutely love sexy cowboys and Luke fits this description easily. His love for Ingrid is something really special and he's definitely protective, which a characteristic I love in my heroes. Overall, a great read! Looking forward to the next book in this series.

I was in the mood for a good country contemporary romance and this fit the bill perfectly. The cover was not my favorite of all romance covers, maybe because I know farms and horses I’m a little pickier. That saddle he is so gallantly carrying… would fit a small child. So he better be carrying it for a pony. Anyways! on to the review…

Lets start with Ingrid, first off super strong name for a super strong lady. I was impressed with how hard Ingrid worked. Nothing was glossed over in this book, the sweating while mucking out stalls, checking on the cattle etc. Ingrid is just trying to take it day by day. She is struggling to hold the ranch together long enough to pay off her mom Nadine for it. She doesn’t have time for anything in her life right now except the ranch and her little sister Lily. Matter of fact Ingrid doesn’t think anything of Luke except that he’s a nuisance that she now has to add to her to-do list. Ingrid’s romantic burn with Luke was a slow starter which I enjoyed. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to let him get in her way. I know I’ve said it a million times but I love strong female characters, women who don’t necessarily need men. I really liked for every action that Ingrid took you could see what happened in her past to make her think that way. She may act like she doesn’t care but you can tell her heart is on her sleeve.

Luke while lead to as being the wild child throughout the whole book definitely isn’t. I really enjoyed his proper manners. He was so sly after he felt better about helping Ingrid out without her thinking he was helping her out. The mutual love of the land definitely was a bonus. I mean it’s nice to see a city gal fall for a country guy romance story, but this was so much more because they both lived and breathed the land. His politeness and patience with Ingrid and Lily said a lot about how he was raised. Sure everyone in his family is a character but who’s family doesn’t have characters in it? Luke is the guy who instinctively sticks up for the little person. He doesn’t mind playing go fish with Lily for hours. He doesn’t mind riding up into the mountains to watch the herd either.

One of my favorite parts was the girls day that happened with Ingrid and some new friends. I felt the love of Luke’s mom in that part. I also really enjoyed Yancey and Mick’s characters I feel like they will become fast friends. All in all this was a very enjoyable read, I would highly recommend it to any romance readers our there.

Thank you to Forever Romance and R. C. Ryan for my advance copy in lieu of my honest review!

This is my first book in this series and if the other Malloys are like Luke sign me up. Luke is wild carefree and a daredevil. He is also sexy sweet gentle and has a heart of gold. when Ingrid helps him and gets him back on his feet he doesn’t walk away no he sticks around to help her. He sees her farm is in danger and so is she so he stays. Even after his family comes to get him he stays.

Luke is so sweet to Ingrid’s sister whom you will love. And the old ranchhand is too much. but Big one will have you reeling with his hautiness. Luke’s family is so sweet and kind. How they take in Ingrid and her sister when they are threatened is just so heartwarming.

Ingrid’s mom is a piece of work. She does redeem herself at the end but throughout the book you just want to smack her upside the head. Ingrid is so amazing. She is strong and caring. How she helps Luke and does everything to save the land she loves is incredible. Watching these two fall in love was so entertaining. Ingrid fought her feelings afraid that they made her like her mother. Luke showed her she was her own person and letting him in didn’t change who she was. He showed her she was smart, amazing, beautiful, strong and could allow herself to love another and not be seen as anyone but herself. Seeing their attraction while they teased each other was wildly entertaining. but the romance was only half the story. Watching them discover who was threatening Ingrid and why was one very alluring and addictive plot. We see Luke shine in this area as well. He is so protective and alpha male here but still lets Ingrid see she is in charge of herself. the ending was wow just wow. So not what I expected.

this was a fast paced addictive story filled with adventure, romance, sexy times, snarky banter, teasing, sweet family moments and lots of danger. Luke shows us how amazing and how big his heart is. Ingrid shows us her strength and stubbornness but also her love for her family and land. Lukes family is so sweet and adorable. the romance is sensual and we see two people come together though love, support and respect for one another. they take care of each other and have the same values when it comes to family and ranching. A great romance with wonderful characters and an addictive plot with a sexy Luke that has your heart skip a beat in every page. You will melt when you see him with Ingrid’s sister.

Short Summary: Luke Mallory gets hurt on the trail when someone shoots at a herd of mustangs. He is found by Ingrid Lawson who nurses him back to health. But instead of high tailing it out of there he stays and helps Ingrid and her little sister lily who are in a mess.

My reaction: This is book two in the Malloys of Montana series. When I bought this book I didn't know it was a part of a series. I still really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was absolutely great. This book held my attention and I didn't want to put it down. This book had a little romance and a little suspense to it.
I figured Luke was falling for the tom boy Ingrid but I couldn't really tell if she was falling for him too. When I figured out that she had also fallen hard for Luke I was so glad but I didn't know if they would actually end up together. I couldn't figure out who was trying to get Ingrid off there ranch, there was so many different people I could be. I wasn't all that shocked when that person was revealed. Once I thought about it, I should have figured it out sooner.
I feel like this book is a must read for anyone who likes southern novels. I am now going to have to buy book one in this series and read it before I read book three. I can not wait to finish out this series.

"Never call yourself just a woman. You're the most beautiful—" he closed his hands over hers and leaned in to kiss her "—most dazzling woman I've ever known. And you've got me so tied up in knots..."

Oh, I'm absolutely loving this series from R.C. Ryan and just like Ingrid grabbed Luke, these Malloys of Montana have got me all tied up in knots. I think it's safe to say that, as much as I've enjoyed her others, Luke is now officially my favorite of all the books I've read by this author.

At least, until I read the next one... then, we'll see.

Luke was fabulous. I adore sexy cowboys, and this middle Malloy cowboy is the epitome of sexy. And hot. And big-hearted. Oof, the man hit my soft spot with his good nature, his kindness, his willingness to help and his ability to know just what his girls needed. *Sigh* It certainly doesn't hurt the man has moves that can turn the most raging river into mere steam, and me into a melted puddle of lust. And work those knots around my heart.

But it wasn't just Luke himself that made Luke the book such a good read. The balance between the love Ingrid and Luke were developing and the underlying mystery of what was happening on the Larsen ranch ensured that this story maintained a steady, engaging pace, right up until the OMG! ending. The suspicious activity never overtook the rest of the story—in fact, it served the highlight the acceptance and beautiful familial spirit of the Malloys. Just tying those knots tighter.

Plus, there were some more hints at a growing something between Colin and Anita, more love evident between Matt and Nessa, a little bit of Reed showing his swoony ways (and just making me all the more eager for his book), and another piece of the overall puzzle that Ms. Ryan is weaving through this series—all of which made certain that those knots won't be untied any time soon.

"The only woman I see is you, Ingrid. The only one I've seen since being in this house is you. Only you."

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the two main characters was very believable and I was rooting for them from the get-go. Lil Bit was a hoot; she was priceless and kept me laughing most of the time. While this is the 2nd book in the series, it definitely can be read alone. I'm looking very forward to the 3rd book!

I received this book through a GoodReads contest and in return promised my honest review.

This book is #2 in the The Malloys of Montana Series and they can be read as a stand alone issue but they are best read in order.

Luke Malloy is the middle child of 3 boys and he has always been wild and reckless but he has a heart of gold and would go above and beyond for those that he loves. His parents died in a car crash when he was young so his grandparents took the boys in. Luke chooses to live a solitary life of a rancher in the Montana wilderness, it's where he finds the most happiness. While on his way back from being up in the hills he is thrown from his horse and is rescued by a fellow rancher. This fellow rancher is a beautiful blonde whose passion is to revive her fathers ranch and make it well known. But it's apparent she has secrets.
Ingrid Larsen inherited the cattle on her fathers ranch is trying to buy back the ranch from her mother before she sells it to a neighboring rancher. Ingrid is independent and doesn't want anyone's help managing her family's ranch, raising her little sister and most certainly not with the mysterious incidents happening on or around her ranch. She takes in the sexy stranger while he is recovering from his wounds and tries to stay aloof and not trust the sweet talker. But just as her sister has done, she begins to trust Luke, rely on his promise of protection and keeping her heart out of the equation is a bigger battle than finding out who is out to get her.

Luke Malloy is the kind of cowboy I love to read about. Hardworking, brave, witty, and so darn likable. He cares deeply, and once he lets a person in and decides to care about them, he’ll risk whatever he has to risk to make sure they’re properly cared for. He’s a man’s man, definitely, but he’s got a soft heart and beautiful soul. And I loved his interactions with the heroine, Ingrid, and her younger sister. Because while Ingrid is strong and proud, Luke can’t bear the thought of not helping her, especially after the trouble she went to in taking care of him after he was knocked off his horse and landed unconscious near her property.

If you’ve read the first book in this series, you’re definitely going to want to read this one as it’s just as amazing as the first book. Fast-paced, well-written, and expertly characterized, with a little bit of suspense and some awesome family moments thrown in, LUKE by R.C. Ryan is a wonderful story any cowboy romance fan is sure to enjoy and savor.

It is a must read. It is set in the back drop of Montana, a wild west romance. The characters are bold and alive. It is a cow punching murder mystery. Prepare to loose yourself in the story.

I am starting a library of books from R.C. Ryan. I like that she sets her stories in Montana. She has really given us true characters. I didn't get pulled into this book. I jumped in by myself. I am a western fan. This book has some graphic scenes scattered around. I hope you still want to read this book. Be prepared. Ingrid found Luke unconscious and brought him to her ranch thinking he shot at mustangs. He gets better and sees she runs the ranch alone with one wrangler, Mick. Two men want her ranch. Her mother, Nadine, runs after men in bars. Ingrid and her little sister Lily try to stay away from her. Luke wants to stay and protect them. The ranch had lots of accidents. There is more to come but you will need to read to the end. You may need to keep tissues close. If you like cattle, horses and the West I recommend you to read this book. You won't regret it! I volunteered to read and review this book.

Luke Malloy is the wild one of the Malloy brothers. He's always lived his life the way he wants and how he wants. Then he stumbles in to the life on Ingrid Larsen. Ingrid is struggling to keep her fathers ranch afloat after he passed away suddenly. After Ingrid helps him out Luke decides he wants to hang around her ranch and help her if he can. Love the Malloy clan. Luke is one of those guys who is always there for the underdog. Ingrid is a fighter though and she is made of some tough stuff. It was fun watching these two get close in between Luke's family and the drama around Ingrid's ranch troubles. The characters in this series make you wish you could be part of it all. Love how R.C. Ryan pulls you in and works her magic. Would everyone love to live on a fabulous sprawling ranch? This book makes you wish you could.
