Being kidnapped and locked in a basement with my ex-boyfriend is awkward, but as selfish as it sounds, I’m glad he’s locked down here with me. I’m scared. But I know Tristan will find me. He has to.
This is the forth and final book in the New Hope Academy Series. This is a completed YA mystery romance. Book 1: Fate Book 2: Luck Book 3: Fame Book 4: Wish
I'm Scarlett Haven. I write YA and NA books and I write a lot. My books are a fun mixture of romance, mystery, and now some paranormal too!
Besides writing, I also love to read anything I can get my hands on and I'm always drawn to the villain of the story. I am 29 years old and am married to the love of my life.
Wish brings us the final book in the New Hope Academy series and picks up where Fame left us with Kat and Damon being kidnapped and held in a basement. During this time Kat gets to meet Salvador who is Rafe's son and also discovers her brother's friend and childhood crush is also a traitor working for the bad guys. Is there anyone who isn't working as a double agent as we discover the truth about Kat's father and brother Dmitri. During Wish, we mainly have the story from Tristan's POV as he searches for Kat. Can Tristan save the girl he loves or has he taught her well enough that she can fight for herself? Also in Wish, we get to see a bit more glimpse of Kat's cousin Jade, and as the book finished, we see Jade asking Kat for help to find her father. I loved this part as I do love biological parent searching books and it does open the doorway to a possible new series by Scarlett Haven as I have been enjoying her different series. If you are in the mood for a YA mystery where each book is a fast read, then check out the New Hope Academy series by Scarlett Haven today.
This is hard for me because I really liked this series for the not part. My biggest complaint is with the last book. It feels unfinished. Yes most of the action/ mystery was cleared up but there were still things left unfinished. Yes I get that there is going to be another book from a new characters POV but that is the problem unless it is going to be from Tristan's POV these characters still have a story to finish in my opinion. My problem with the series as a whole was some editing mistakes. Which I don't take stars away unless it is just atrocious which this was not. But I mention it because I know some people make a big deal out of it. So if this is a pet peeve of yours beware. I did really like the plot, characters, and settmgs (locations). I enjoyed this on the whole but I am disappointed that the author chose to end these characters story to soon.
This is all coming to a head. The bad people are coming for them and Kat is so confident that it totally blew me away. I liked that Tristan was putting his feelings on the table with Kat. I also liked that he was willing to be with her regardless of the obstacles.
This was really a nonstop thriller. Fame left off on a pretty big cliffhanger with Damon and Katerina being abducted from the New Hope campus. Wish is formatted differently than the first three books because it’s split between Katerina and Tristan’s perspectives. The rotating point of view adds a lot of context which is nice.
We get to see what’s happening on both ends as everyone is scrambling to find Katerina and Damon before it’s too late. They have the advantage that Damon is the President’s son so the United States military is searching for them. However, they were taken to Russia so that complicates the search.
Wish is pretty much nonstop action with Katerina and Damon trying to stay alive long enough to be found and Tristan and the others are desperately searching. Now with Katerina gone, Alik feels guilty about not keeping an eye on her and is worried about losing another one of his siblings.
It also turns out that Katerina’s father is actually not a terrorist anymore. He really did make a deal with the Russian government to take down the terrorist group he started so even though he hasn’t made the best decisions, he’s trying to turn his life around. They’re also still searching for Katerina’s mother and Elana.
I will admit that while I was not feeling the romance between Katerina and Tristan in Fame, it did win me over in Wish. Tristan finally opens up about his family and Katerina opens up about Eduard’s death. They have a lot more in common than they seem to at first and I finally felt like they had a real connection despite everything.
There was still a few typos throughout the story and at times I felt too many different ideas are put into play so there are a lot of loose ends. There are so many things that are left unresolved and I was left wondering why they were introduced in the first place. Several things from the first two books especially never come together in the end.
The ending really caught me by surprise, I was not expecting the betrayal at all. There are so many twists and turns in Wish, it feels more like a thriller than a drama which I enjoyed. Overall, this series was really good as a solid mystery thriller and teenage drama. If you don’t mind clichés, loose ends, and typos then I definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed this book and the story of told. Still love how the !son character is strong and not having to depend on others all the time. Hoping for more in this series
The story is interesting, but the typos were off putting. I still read it as i was hooked and completed the 4 book series in a single Saturday of binge reading :) happy :)
Good series, but wish it had been a little different.
I really did like the series. The storyline was good and it was very exciting and had a nice HEA. But the resolution of the whole conflict seemed very abrupt and not well detailed as compared with the rest of the book. There was only one paragraph about how it was dealt with. Just odd. Unfortunately, just like the other books, the grammatical errors were atrocious! The dean of a private prep school would use proper grammar!! There were four books in this series, but not one was edited well, if at all. That makes me sad...it could have been so much better.
Great YA fiction. The series is quick to read and character development is rather good. Some grammatical errors that distract from the story but overall a pretty good read. FYI, each book is rather short. I would grab all the books if you are taking them on vacation with you. They each end with a cliffhanger.
I have read ever book of this little series it is amazing! The fast pace of it fast moving and it makes it easy for on the go life style if you do t have a lot of time for huge novel. Its packed full of action and a great love story you get to love the characters and the individual personality shine through!
I'm gonna go ahead and give it a trigger warning for Jesus talk. BARF.
Is English this author's first language? If not, that's cool, but get an editor.
Annoying ass love triangle.
I only read this in hopes of getting out of my Fallen Crest book hangover. Not even fucking close.
Gah, I get it. Russia is better. Americans are weird. You are Russian. You love Jesus. Russia. Jesus. Love. Marriage. Sixteen. Damon. Tristan. You are mature. Russian.
This series is bad. And needs an editor and proofreader.
