Hidden Truths, the sequel to Violet Chain, is a great mix of emotion and sexual chemistry. Much of the book centers around the aftermath of Violet's abduction and Chain's secrets and how he is going to unveil them all to Violet. In this sequel, their relationship is put to the test because of these issues and other threats that surround them.

The highlight of this book is the series of twist and turns. It's well-executed! I was pleasantly surprised by how one thing was led to another, creating such conflicts which of course, were done sophisticatedly. J. Kahele's writing once again awed me. She writes flawlessly and creates characters that are not only attractive and hot, but with unique traits and perspectives as well.

There are some majorily heartbreaking events in this book that emotionally destroyed me and gave me a whole host of other emotions. At times I was even annoyed because of Chain's stupid decisions. Ugh. I was still glad, however, that he was able to realize his mistakes in the end.

What I also enjoyed here was the side characters. Vince and Viktor are baes! They're way too funny and sexy. I wish they'll have stories in the next books. They will make great heroes, I swear! The introduction of new characters here also feels refreshing. Sandy and Christopher Blu... they are a mystery that is yet to be fathomed. The romance, on the other hand, was absolutely good, but I wish there's more especially at the last chapters. I think the ending was too abrupt. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the entirety of this book. There's sweet HEA and I think that's what matters most. So excited to read the next book of this series. :)

Once again, J. Kahele puts both her readers and her characters through the uncharted rapids of romance between two people carrying enough baggage to sink a ship. Hidden Truths those often gut-wrenching, relationship breaking discoveries are going to test the fragile bond Violet and Chain have formed.

Chain needs commitment, he is ready, and he wants only Violet, but she refuses to commit without something from Chain, his past. Like two bulls charging one another, these two will butt heads and hearts more than once as each one attempts to find what they need from the other. Like the vicious circle of a saw blade on high, these two find more ways to hurt each other while clinging to the one thing besides love they share. Their physical chemistry is off the grid, they want no one else, but pride and a need for answers may cause too much agony, as the bonds of trust are shredded through foolish acts, while interference from family and friends is like cleaning a wound with battery acid and barbed wire.

How can two people who can char the bedposts and scorch the very air they share be so far apart when it comes to total trust? J. Kahele has turned up the heat again, fired up the passion and torched the pages with tension, angst and more tension as two people struggle to find a common ground without giving an inch. Great dialogue, overbearing family, over-involved friends and scenes that breathe life into them all, J. Kahele has penned another riveting look at a love match that should have been made in heaven, but still smells a little like sulphur. Will Violet and Chain ever give up their secrets and find calm waters? Connect with the characters, get frustrated with them, feel their desperation in spades. Kind of makes you want to put Cupid in a time out for allowing all of this torture!

Shhh… it’s a secret and I can’t tell you about this book except to say that it’s drama, angst, angst, and then some more drama. So get ready to be on edge when you read Hidden Truths. I ended Violet Chain, part one of this love-charged series with an attitude because it had a cliffhanger, a really nasty one that had me trying to find more pages to turn. So when I started Hidden Truths, I was already keyed up. Well, J Kahele never really lets you down, on any level.

Kahele brings back alpha male, Chain Alexander and his insatiable love interest, sexy Violet Townsend and puts more than a few sparks between them. So if heat is your goal, you’ll reach new heights with Hidden Truths. These are some of the most flawed characters I’ve ever read, which is my way of saying how real they are, and maybe that’s what keeps the reader in the fight or at least on the sidelines, wanting more and more. Kahele sets the stage magnificently with a perfect prologue that immediately gets you up to speed and in the thick of things.

This is one of those stories you dream about, nights after you read it because you can feel it just that strongly. And the descriptive imagery puts you right between the words and in the middle of the characters. Kahele brings back the supporting cast of solid-as-a-rock David and Cassie to keep the story grounded and double-barreled shotgun twins, Victor and Vince to keep the testosterone up and any would be suitors for Violet honest. We also get some new fire from the mysterious Lonnie Statford and the uptight, driven, and talented Christopher Blu. All in all, if you liked Violet Chain, you’ll definitely love Hidden Truth as it comes highly recommended, and if you’re like me, you won’t be able to wait for part three.

I started a bit late with this series; I jumped straight to book two. However, reading the first book before the second is not necessary. Hidden Truths starts out with a bang! Violet was brutally attacked, and although I want to give a better description of what happened, you’ll have to read it to find out. But I digressed, Violet must now face the emotional turmoil of the attack, and her romantic relationship to Chain has suffered because of it. Chain Alexander, by the way, is the quintessential male figure: he is sensitive, considerate, and heedful. Why? You asked! Well, see the passage below:

“He squealed with excitement as he pushed the tray of rings closer to me. I glanced across the array of rings, and one caught my attention. A pale pink oval-shaped stone glittered in the middle, and two large diamonds sat on each side of it. I didn’t know why, but I just knew this was the one.”

That’s right ladies, I present to you, Chain Alexander! Chain is also an untiring advocate of marriage. He has been trying to get Violet to commit in a more permanent way.

Chain’s past however is troublesome. Will his past destroy their relationship? Go to Amazon and purchase a copy of Hidden Truths, and you’ll find out. The story does contain some very mature, erotic, and steamy scenes. Very well-written I must say! I’d provide an excerpt, but this is a PG rated review. Well done, J. Kahele.

Author J. Kahele has formulated an eclectic mix of characters; each with a specific set of circumstances, and each must overcome life’s challenges while dealing with the complexities of being in a relationship. I found the story to be extremely well-written and enjoyable. I most certainly recommend this book, but only for mature readers. An easy 5 stars! Book 1 and 3 here I come!

There were so many twists and turns in this book. Just when I thought I knew where things were going with Violet and Chain, I got blindsided with another element. All of the inner workings of the story are woven together with precision, making this book addictive. I appreciate the way that difficult situations were presented and the reactions were real. Without giving anything away from the first book, I will just say that Chain was so supportive and patient. Once again, we got his perspective and for me, it added so much depth. He is definitely swoon worthy, not only because he's sexy as sin, he's got a sensitive side, too.
What a fantastic series! I hope we get more, like maybe Violet's brothers finding a woman of their own?! Hint. Hint. Nudge. Nudge.

"I don't care what it costs." - Chain Alexander, Hidden Truths

In the context of his statement, and the scene in which it takes place, our MC Chain Alexander is a man that I believe many men would like to be like. Powerful, rich, good looking, great taste in women...he would appear to have it all.

He is a confident man who knows what he wants. In book one he comes across a little bullish and possesses the kind of self belief that would make people shrink in his presence.

What was clear that this high flyer has fallen completely for our other MC, Violet, and it's a roller coaster ride as the book reaches its close.

I think the series has to been viewed in the context that book one is really part one, so I was more excited at the prospect of a second book in the series rather than think the ending of #1 left me hanging. It did - but in a good way. There is nothing wrong with that.

The revelations about Chain unravel in a paced and measured way, ensuring we are gripped until the very end of the tale.

I would suggest that author Miss Kahele knows what her fans want, and she delivers here in spades.

I still find Violet a likeable, enjoyable character. She doesn't play hapless waif to Chain - she is a strong character, a woman that also knows what she wants.

The mature scenes are exactly that - from the opening pages Hidden Truths is brutal but utterly realistic.

Let's see where book three takes us!

HIDDEN TRUTHS has it all. It is going to make you giggle like a teenager, scream, hold your breath and break your heart. Chain has a secret and it's a big one! All he wants is to marry Violet and keep her safe, but something from his past is haunting him. When his past smacks him in the face he does the only thing he knows how to do to keep his secrets safe.......he breaks Violet's heart.

My emotions were all over the place while reading HIDDEN TRUTHS. J. Kahele has a way of getting under your skin and pulling at your heart strings! I love this fabulous author and now the only sad part is.......I have to wait for the next book in this awesome series, Blu which hopefully she is writing right now! Review:
“Making love to Violet was always amazing. It wasn’t about position or how many times I could get off, it was about feeling her on the inside and out. I had never felt the emotion, the love I felt for a woman when making love like I did with Violet. It was so magical, so unbelievable.”

5 Violet Stars!! What an emotional and drama filled book….I loved every page of it!!

Violet and Chain are trying to make their relationship work after her abduction. She’s working on trust and love, and well it’s difficult for her. On top of that Chain has a secret that could ruin everything they’ve worked so hard for.

This book is a continuation of book one, and it’s just as emotional and dramatic as the first one! I fell in love with the first book and the characters, so I was excited to read the next book in the series! J knows how to write a great book with dynamic characters. You feel the pain and struggle that these two are going through as you read. I really found it hard to put my kindle down as I was reading, it really pulls you in!! Great book and definitely worth the read!!

Actual Rating : 4.5 Stars

I'm kinda speechless at the moment, I have never read a book and at the end of it been unable to put a review together.

I really enjoyed this book, however it lacked a tiny bit of something hence the 4.5 stars. It should have been a 5! I'm a huge fan of the way J.Kahele writes, I completely fell in love with the violet chain series, Book #1 just got me hook line and sinker.

This story literally starts where #book 1 ended, it was such a huge cliff hanger that I remember literally bouncing up and down just dyeing to know what happened, and i'm so pleased that this book started exactly where the last one had ended. This book is like a roller coaster of emotions and love, Chain and Violets story is great, I think I actually connect with it, as it's very similar to my own life. This has everything the up's and downs of a relationship the insecurities, the porky pies because you're thinking on the hoof and trying to keep up an image and expectations. I think this is why I enjoy these books so much is they are so real, all those emotions and feelings. One of the best thing about the way J.Kahele writes is that it has you cracking up with laughter, it's so fun and witty with laughable quotes and banter.

This is such an enjoyable series I fully recommend reading Book #1. And I am now waiting again to see what is going to happen in the Chain and Violet story in book#3.

First things first, I love this series but you absolutely need to read book 1 before you pick up book 2. I had read book 1 when it was released and felt like I should have reread it (at least the end of it) to be up to speed when I picked this book up. Now I will say the confusion didn’t last long and I quickly jumped right back into this story.

Violet is left struggling to regain control of her life after the attack and she is left with the guilt of not being able to give Chain what he wants. She knows he’s hurting too but they rarely talk about it because Chain doesn’t want to remind her of the pain that was inflicted on her.

Chain knows that he loves Violet and he spends a great deal of time and energy trying to convince her to marry him. Just as he finally gets her to agree, an ugly secret from his past comes back to haunt him and puts Violet in danger. Rather than admit his past and eliminate the power of his past, he removes his future. He disappears from Violet’s life and bans her from his office, breaking her heart. Fortunately, friends don’t let friends destroy their lives. David figures out enough of the pieces to force Chain to face his past and go after Violet to reconcile the past and the future.

I would have like to see a little bit more of the struggle and reconciliation between Chain and his past. Would have liked more development about Lonnie and how Chain gets her out of their lives and more about what she was doing to Violet. But on the same token, Jen did a very good job of not having the story side track and all those things that I’d like to hear more about could easily have taken the story off track and caused the reader to lose the impact of the story. So although, I would have liked a little more, the author, editors and everyone else involved in getting this book in my hands probably made the right decision.

Now, how long do you suppose I have to wait for book 3 because the prologue at the end of book 2 did nothing to help my patience?

Second in a series, it's an absolute MUST to read VIOLET CHAIN, BK 1. I went back to re-read the last couple of chapters so it would feel a more seamless read.

Violet and Chain have had a bumpy ride. Both of them thinking of a one or two night stand would be the extent of their relationship, they just dived on in. Surprise, Surprise, they fell in love .. the real deal .. the permanent kind.

Surviving a trauma (cliff hanger from book 1), Violet is having some self-image problems and Chain is giving her every chance to heal and get their relationship back on the right track. He goes as far as buying her a ring and proposing. And then he really does the unexpected by leaving her.

He's not the total jerk he appears to be, but he has secrets .... secrets that could conceivably kill.

My sentimental side is brought out by this one. I found myself really rooting for the two of them to make it.

On the other side of the coin.... I would have liked to have seen more of Chain's past ..more fully explained and dealt with. I felt like a lot was missing there. The danger to Violet and how that ended should also have been explained in much more detail.

Overall, a good read. I also see a third book coming out ... BLU. I will definitely be looking forward to that one.

My thanks to the author and to Booklover Catlady Publicity who furnished a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

After reading the first book of the series, I wasn't sure where else the story could go. I was mistaken. There was so much depth to this book. I knew that Chain had secrets in his life, he had stopped speaking to his father years before. These secrets threaten to tear him and Violet apart. These secrets eat away at him and keep him from being open with her about his past and his estrangement from his father.

Violet has dealt with the betrayal by Harrison and had completely moved on. The dangers in her life are on her mind and affect her building relationship. Chain wants to support and comfort her through the process.

There are twists and turns in this book that I never saw coming. My heart was breaking at many parts of the book. So many emotions were generated by the trials and tribulation of Violet and Chain.

Vince and Victor as well as David and Callie are back in this second book and are as personable and lovable as always. This was another very enjoyable book by J. Kahele. Great writing and a great story.

4.5 CHAIN STARSSS !!!!
Tentative Release Date -  December 14, 2015

Photo 08-12-15, 10 35 46 PM

Hidden Truth by J Kahele !! I was so excited to read this book after reading Violet Chain. I am not a fan of cliffhangers and needed this story like yesterday. What a twisted story it was. I really felt bad for what Violet had to go through and Chains turmoil. His vulnerability was heart melting, I wanted to just go make things right for him, and when I couldn't I felt like wringing somebody’s neck literally. I loved how David & Callie were great friends to Chain & Violet, and the way it was portrayed by the author. I cant believe I finished this book overnight, it was such a page turner. Chemistry between Chain & Violet was off the charts !!!!

After what happened with Violet, she tries to piece her life back together with Chain. That incident traumatised her and Chain being the loving boyfriend he was, supported her and dealt with it very patiently. Slowly and gradually they were trying to get past it. As the relationship progresses, Chain realises how much deeper his love for Violet is and how badly he wanted to make her his. He meets her family, which he was very skeptical about and does everything to please her. He buys her an engagement ring and every time he tries to propose her, she refuses asking for more time and more solidity in their relationship. Chain’s past is haunting him and he refuses to acknowledge it. Violet has a nagging feeling that Chain is hiding something, but every time she confronts him, he refuses. So she decides to dig herself, but doesn't get any substantial information. Meanwhile Violet gets busy with her work, as her new clientele demanded a lot of her time and Chain is dealing with his architectural issues with his new mall. Everything was going well for them and one morning she accepts Chain’s proposal and gets engaged.

But that morning everything changes !!!!!

Will Chain’s past rip them apart forever ?

This was my first time reading anything by J Kahele and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. This story has many twists and turns and some hot chemistry in the touching romance. The emotions in this story will make you feel like your on a roller coaster ride and you're need to hold on tight because this story will grab you and pull you in and hold you there from start to finish and will leave you wanting more. Chain has a secret and boy it's a big one,but the one thing that he really wants is to protect Violet and to keep her safe. But there's something from his past that is haunting him, and when all of a sudden he's slapped in the face and does something that he doesn't want to do and that is to break Violet's heart. Will he end up leaving her to keep her safe? The characters in this story was well developed their strong ,caring ,loving, and their make this touching story flow so smoothly. I could go on and tell you more about what becomes of this touching couple but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story, because you won't be disappointed.

As a big fan of J. Kahele’s work, this story as expected did not disappoint. The story pulls at your heart strings. I found myself actually rooting for Violet and Chain of them to make it. J. Kahele’s style improves with each book. Her characters evolutions are realistic and believable. J. Kahele manages to maintain the character's core traits while seamlessly and naturally showing their growth from the trials and tribulations they’ve faced. Well written with a strong plot, the series keeps you interested and entertained, and I can’t wait for the next installation to answer the questions and show how Violet and Chain relationship plays out. Five stars!

Hidden Truths (Violet Chain #2) by J. Kahele
This book was well written it had hot steamy sex scenes with some twist and turns and you really need to read Violet chain to know what is going on.

I love a book that I can get lost in, from the first page until the end. A book that draws me in to the world of the characters, and Violet Chain did that to me. Ms. Kahele is a wonderful writer and I can’t wait to see what she has instore for us with the rest of the series. A very emotionally driven story!!!!!!

This is the second book in the series and we continue to watch Violet and Chain move forward in their relationship they are trying to build a loving and trusting relationship, but life has a few more obstacles to throw at them.

We watched as Violet’s dreams implode and she has to put herself together once again to survive all the crazy, unbelievable, twists and turns of her life: First she Catches her ex Harrison cheating on her at their engagement party and second she is attacked by Chains friend Phillip and then there is Chain himself even though he is our sweetheart he was also a jerk. Violet is such a strong character, a woman that also knows what she wants but she just couldn’t catch a break.

Chain has been a patient kind man and just when things are coming together with the love of his life, all the secrets and hidden truths of Chain’s painful and extraordinary life come full circle and crash down around him.

I love how Ms. Kahele brought all her characters together and I would love to see Callie and David’s story and also Vince and Victors story.

You are going to laugh, cry and scream but it is totally worth it. This series is a must read and I can’t wait until the next book in the series comes out.

The second book in the Violet Chain series. I read the first book not that long ago and my first thoughts on reading this were “I need a bit of a recap” as the story begins assuming you know (and remember!!) certain things about the characters. The main characters, fair enough, but could I remember someone thing about a subsidiary character. No! Ok moan over.
Chain comes across as a clever, self- made but arrogant man who has a tendency to outbursts of violence to anyone who hurts (or threatens ) those around him, which to me, does not come across as very mature. He makes up for this by his love of Violet who is a very likable character as are her 2 friends who come across as much more grown up in their words and actions.
Chain has a secret past which may have made him the way he is. Violet has a secure family background and despite having been attacked, to me, is not too cautious soon afterwards where the rest of us I feel would be looking over our shoulders and locking everything in sight!
There is also a feeling of quick reactions. Violet is adamant that she doesn’t want to get engaged. Next minute she is. Then they split for what appears to be no apparent reasons. So quick that I thought I had inadvertently skipped pages.
This is well written in parts (some very much so) that I feel it needs a good editor as it has all the makings of a good novel. Such a shame that there is not the consistency and that there are almost “gaps”.
3* as there is a good plot and it gets better as the plot unfolds but does require work.

I really enjoyed Violet Chain (Book 1 in the series) and one-clicked the sequel, Hidden Truths, right after I was done with Book 1. The characters grow so much in this one, I was hooked right from the start. It's fast-paced and full of suspense. Chain, the MC, shows a new side of his personality. In Book 1, he was more Alpha and confident, now we see a softer side that doesn't contradict his Alpha side but proves that J. Kahele gave a lot of depth to her characters. Chain's decisions are sometimes irrational but don't we all make those, from time to time, believing we are protecting the ones we love? Yes, all the characters in this book are relatable, main or secondary (Blu who is the MC of Book 3). Of course, the overbearing males in Violet's family are still around yet less frequently. This book is loaded with emotions. I couldn't put it down, can't wait to read Book 3!

I received the book from the author for an honest review.

And wao that continuation on the series, the beginning was exciteful and interesting, the book at the core for me seemed a little to angst but it was cool nonetheless and the hidden secrets of Chain were a little hard and I loved the end it was so nice.

If you're a romantic the last scene will steal your heart.

Unfortunately, it started in the first book and continued in this book: the dialogues got really cheesy and the characterization of the characters developed in a direction I can't stand. I skiped through most parts of the book and was glad when it came to the end.
