Seventeen-year-old Keri Edwards has led a hard life. She is the daughter of the most ruthless Alpha in the territory. In the shadow of cruelty, he molded her to follow in his footsteps. Her father’s unexpected death has freed her and made her the Alpha of a powerful pack.
Forced to lie and deceive the people closest to her has led to the rejection of her mate, Blake Stevens. He walked away instead of claiming her. In his eyes she is the one who betrayed him, her actions unforgivable.
There is no time to deal with her heartache as she takes on the biggest task of her life, becoming the Alpha she was trained to be. Settling into her new role has dangers, and when Blake appears out of the blue, wanting her as his mate, she can’t trust his motives.
I haven't finished reading the book yet, but I've gotta say that I'm disappointed. Reading the first book and loving it, even if it had it flaws, I thought that this book would have the same quality, drama and excitement but it's not even comparable to the first book. It honestly feels like another author wrote this one because of it. I mean, alpha gave a realitstic personality and relations of the characters. Despite the whole werewolf thing it felt more real like it might possibly happen in real life. This book however felt fake. The characters and their reactions felt really fake, there were pretty big plot holes ( for example: they killed the alpha in the first book and the war stopped because of it, but in this book they could neither kill or keep the new alpha prisoner because that might start a war. How the f does that work out? And don't even get me started on the whole sending Kyle all by himself to enemy territory.)
Then it comes to the storyline. While the first book was filled with incidents like Scarlett finds out she's not human, finds her mate and her brother, the twists and turns in all their relationships, finding out what happened to her parents, being thrown in prison ... Well, the list goes on. Summary: filled with excitement, drama and relivations. When it comes to the second book there is only one word that comes to mind: dull. It's nothing surprising about the book. I pretty much guessed the storyline before I even started reading it. This is how it goes; Young girl figuring out how to become a good alpha, gets an enemy that wants her dead, falls in love with her mate which we already found out in the first book. Where's the twist? Where's the excitement? Even the relationship is dull. Between Cade and Scarlett there were arguments and fight for dependence and control. In this relationship everything was Blake agreeing to every of Keri's wishes and demands as soon as he found out about her mom. No roller coaster of ups and downs. Just simply boring and dull.
I really loved Alpha and so I hoped I would fall in love with this book too and it makes me so sad that I couldn't like it. I really hope Regan Ure step up her game for the next book she's writing. All authors have their dips after all and I'm still looking forward to what she will write next.
Regan does not fail with the next story in this series. Keri finds herself in a no win situation. Her only goal is to keep her mother safe and she must endure the pain she causes along with her own.
When her truth is revealed, she has only herself to rely on and the truth. Her guilt is heightened along with her grief. Finding the strength needed to fight her enemies is more complicated than she could ever foresee.
Her mate’s last look at her before he turned and walked away, will be forever in her mind. Her father’s sins will always haunt her, but now she must step up to lead her pack as they deserve. Forgiveness is something Blake cannot see in his future with his mate, but when he has no choice, his friend Kyle, gives him some advice that he must open himself up to, before his assumptions close all paths to his mate.
This story will answer all the questions you may have, but also bring new questions to the surface that only can be anticipated.
Wow. This one was full of werewolf adventure. With the number of fights and the duel had me on the edge of my seat. Firstly we get to see why Keri is the way she is. Being brought up under the ruthless thumb of her father and a secret that she's kept from everyone, no wonder she becomes a heartless person. But soon enough Kyle's friendship starts chipping away at her heart. But what do you do when you know you have no hope for the future as your destined mate hates you for betraying him. I was really curious how that was going to play out. Now Keri has a huge responsibility to shoulder and prove to her people that she can step up to the role of being their leader. But amidst all this secret ploys to takeover come out and now keri has to fight with her all to safeguard her pack and lives of the ones she loves and cares. But that ending thought about Kyle's mate. Yeah definitely need to know what secret is crystal hiding and why she doesn't want Kyle to know he's her mate and keeps on running. Yeah next book awaits. Loving this series. ❤️
The story of Keri and Blake shows you that in a relationship you can have ups and downs but you always forgive each other for your mistakes by communicating and understanding everyone's side of the story. I give this book 5 star ⭐️ review because I can identify myself with the couple in many ways and yes I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read it because I loved every minute of it.
I really enjoyed this book. It had such depth to the characters. Thought out the book the love emotions and turmiol could be felt in the reads soul through vivid description
Regan has made it to one of my favorite authors. I like how things shift to Keri and Blake in this one . The story was great. Looking forward to starting book 3
I really want to rate this book higher, but I couldn’t bring myself to do so. I really rate a book as 1 star unless I really dislike it, but Fated was another case. There is simply nothing that can make me award more stars to the rating, the one star here is for the efforts and the initial idea of the story. Let me breakdown its fatal flaws in the followings:
Plot:
There isn’t much of a plot, actually, in this book. It picked up right where the first book has left, but then it began a repetitive loop of Keri shutting everyone out, suppressing her emotions, Blake struggling to believe in the goodness in his mate after her betrayal, Kyle sticking around to handle situations, Keri’s mom dying and the ex-beta’s rebellion. Initially, I really like the idea that Keri was forced to betray her friends due to the imprisonment of her dying mother by her heartless dad, and that Blake was in pain to recover from this betrayal. It’s cool, really, and I’m quite into this kind of love-hate relationship. But then the entire plot just stopped there, in the first few pages of the book and kept looping it for the entire story. It’s unbelievably tedious not only because of the lack of actions, but most importantly, the lack of character development throughout the story. I can’t believe that this can be spread out into hundreds of pages when literally everything can be summed up in 2.
The whole plot is basically just Blake debating in himself, Keri resisting Blake, Kyle sort of hanging around and Keri’s mom dying. I know life can be boring but can the writer try something fun? Can she be more creative to write some actions, some plot twists and some incidents that eventaually led to the growth and change of the characters so as to move on with the story?? This is just unbelievable. What it seriously lacks is the dramatic elements every story should at least have a little dose of, especially when it comes to fantasy genre.
Characters: This is the most disappointing part of the whole book. I have held so much hopes on the characters in this book, especially after I read the sample version a few months ago. I have been contemplating in purchasing a paper-pack of this book after just reading a few pages of the sample, but luckily I didn’t. Or else I would have cried in frustration. (I’ve bought the ebook version)
I used to think that Keri is going to be my favourite heroine. She has a reason in all the evil deeds she was doing, she was brought up by a cold-hearted and insane father, she has not been loved by anyone except her mother, and she yearned for love despite her tough exterior.Usually, I like poker face. I like the screw-off-but-i-actually-care-for-you thing but in Keri’s case it’s pissing me off. I understand her mistrust towards everyone, but can she just be slightly nicer to Kyle? He saved her! And then Curtis? Didn’t they suppose to have grown up together? She trusted him with her mother, but she barely interacted with him otherwise. The relationship of the characters in this book is so fake and unconvincing.
And she is also unbelievably self-contradictory. In the first sentence, she claimed that she won’t open up her heart to let anyone in. And then Kyle came along and she said he was a friend. And then in the third sentence she would say that she had to be careful or he’ll worm his way into her heart. And then the forth sentence she would say if he was gone she would miss him terribly. I mean WHAT? This literally just happens, and not just once but frequently. There's some real problems to her personality. People don’t change that easily, it takes time and actions for them to change. As for her feelings towards Blake, it’s much worse off than Kyle’s. Her mother practically die the same day she mated Blake. Seriously? And then after they were mated she claimed to look at Blake as nothing, treating him only as a way for her to shift and gain power. Then the next scene they were playing catch-and-chase lovingly. I mean this book just don’t make sense. Everything is not comprehensible at all and there’s no progresses and process of changes in between everything.
It was a true pleasure reading Alpha, the first book in the series. I found Fated to be an even better read! The action was virtually non-stop and kept me gripping my tablet with white knuckles at times! The romance was spicier and there were quite a few moments that my heart ached for the dramatic situations the characters were put into. I was completely compelled to finish this read as fast as I could just to see what would happen next. Without any dull moments, the climax built up layer by layer into an explosive finale with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series so far and I'm excitedly looking forward to the next release from Regan Ure!
I read the reviews and some didn't think this was as good as the first one but even tho it wasn't as full of action as the first it still was good to me! I wanted to see how it went with Keri and Blake and finally Blake found his mate. I loved Blake as much as care it was nice seeing the change in Keri with her walls coming down and poor Keri about what she did those bad things for, I was so sad about her mom! So glad Scarlett killed her evil father
This book does not compare to the first book in this series. The first book flowed together, this book jumped from plot to plot. Although this book has its suspenseful and heart breaking moments, this book jumped in plots and point of views which made reading very confusing.
