Catastrophe #1

Die For You

Rate this book
Love, in a hopeless place.

Two months after a virus took out civilization, Rachel Donnelly is the last living soul in California, as far as she can tell. Until she runs into a Marine sniper, battle-hardened but alive and healthy.

Adam Sanchez would love nothing more than a slamming session of I-can’t-believe-we’re-alive post-apocalyptic sex in the back of his Hummer. But Rachel’s fragility, inexperience—and much younger age—hold him back from exposing her to his raw, aggressive sexuality. If anything, Rachel needs protection. Especially from himself.

As they band together with other survivors to battle feral animals, violent ex-cons, and motorcycle clubs jockeying for power, Rachel grows stronger in mind, body, and spirit—strong enough to give the dangerously sexy Marine what they both crave.

The power of their passion rocks Adam’s world, bringing him to his knees—which, he discovers too late, is the worst possible place to be when danger springs from the shadows.

Warning: Contains a sexy Marine, a tattooed ex-con, a girl who blossoms into a sexually assured young woman, laughter despite the pain, m/f/m ménage, hope, love, and more bad language and violence than are strictly necessary.

Sigh. That blurb got me all excited. A post apocalyptic setting with a hard, grumpy ex-marine. FUCK YES!

The blurb is the best part of this book. The heroine is an immature, whiny arse little bitch. Hello! Everyone is dead and she's moaning she can't have a 30 minute shower with hot water, or that she'll never use her mobile again. Never mind that she watched her family die along with the rest of the world. And the first man that comes along she's swooning all over the dead bodies. He is SO HOT. Look at that ass. Oh boy. He's so sexy. Please pop my cherry you big bad man. Hmmmmm.

OH FUCK OFF!

I skimmed sections just to get to the sex, then started reading properly again hoping that she had matured a little and realised what world she was actually living in. Nope. She was still a child.

And here's something delightful for you - right after they find a woman being raped by two men they start dry humping each other, THEN go and fuck in the car. Yep.

This was a mess. I understand it was focused on romance, fine. But at least write a strong female character who isn't off day dreaming about tanned cock all the time.

To quote this book -
"Make like a sheep and get the flock out of here."

Mediocre post-apocalyptic book where almost everyone is gone after a virus outbreak. Whiny, immature girl hooks up with alpha soldier with a dominant streak. But for some reason I liked these two all right, and both change for the better. More survivors are encountered, good and evil. Too many sex scenes tie together a miniscule plot, but I liked the touches like hitting up a university library for the 4-1-1. Not the worst I have read in this genre, and not the best. For some reason, though, I need to find out how Trevor does in the next book. Trigger warnings for assault, plus menage. Threesomes are never my fav, but I get to tick that topic off the Unapologetic Romance Readers book challenge list.

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

Oooohh! I really hope that we will see more happy endings for the rest of the men in this series.

Not saying that this book ends depressingly or anything. It ends on a hopeful tone with endless of possibilities to come..

After a strain of Ryuigi Ebola devastates humanity's entire population, only a few survivors who are immune or have managed to fight off the virus, remain.

With more men to women to count, Rachel finds herself a prize commodity and one of the last saving graces to what's left of the human race.

Now joined with a traveling companion and ex-Marine, Adam, along with a few growing allies in tow--- what will they do when they find themselves, or should I say Rachel, the prime target of envious eyes? And what happens when love, tragedy, and sacrifice edge their way into what could be the end of days? Will humanity's last survivors find themselves on the verge of going extinct or will a cure be found to raise mankind from the ashes and rebuild a civil living system once more?

Soooo...The first in its series, this one most definitely was my cup of tea. I've always LOOOVVED dystopian romances, and in fact, have in an "end of the world" theme kick as of lately-- so imagine my glee coming into this while getting much more than I could have bargained in the process?!! *does a happy dance* Die For You has everything from steam, grit, to unpredictable circumstances that will keep you permanently wondering what will happen next?

I formed a bond with all of these characters but the ones I'm now most curious about is Christian and what will become of him? His story was so tragic. Along with, cute little Josie--- ex-convict Trevor--- and maybe some Sebastian and Phoebe? Maybe?

Certainly, a book series, I will be keeping my eye on!

DNF

I don't mind insta love if there is somewhat of an explanation, but this was ridiculous. I think the H dropped his man card in the field the moment they met, and he never found it again. She is the "student" virgin type, whining and fantasising about H (Who looks like Benjamin Bratt and Schwarzenegger) and he has nothing but sex on his mind.....can you imagine those two idiots actually surviving apocalypse

This was ok there were some slight things that irked me and I did find the heroine quite immature and at times a bit oblivious. It’s a post-apocalyptic age-gap romance and is actually well written it’s very instalove in nature and we do have some slight darkness in regards to secondary characters. Nineteen soon to be twenty Rachel Donnelly is a history major when the virus hit she came home to be with her family now alone and scared she decides to set out of San Diego where the bodies of the dead are piling up. Adam Sanchez is a marine sniper he’s older than Rachel thirty-two I think. When all on his base succumbed to illness and died he knew it was time to get out of the city. These two meet on the road and their initial suspicion gives way to relief that they’ve found each another live human, especially after all of the death.

So Rachel and Adam equal road trip these two are very different Adam is super capable Rachel not so much she also has a million insecurities and hang-ups but the one thing they do have in common is they both want to bang each other’s bones though Adam initially vows to steer clear thinking Rachel to young to handle his kinks.

So yeh I found Rachel super annoying she does whine a lot and she’s definitely not as capable as Adam but she fell in shit and came up smelling of roses when she found him on the road as Rachel definitely wouldn’t have even lasted five minutes on her own I mean the girl can’t even handle a gun without freaking. There was so much about Rachel that irritated me from her selfishness with the water and the air conditioner and her weird preoccupation with libraries and information instead of survival skills and everyone with one exception seems to baby her hell it’s obvious why she gets away with this crap.

There was also a couple of other things that irritated me so they meet two other males on the road and they team up Christian is grieving his family and then we have ex-con Trevor who also instantly wants to bone Rachel. This is also where I got annoyed Adam doesn’t trust Trevor but within a very space short of time he’s agreeing to maybe have Trevor come in as a third with Rachel it’s one of his kinks to call all the shots and have another male pleasure his woman. Now I have nothing against ménage this wasn’t my problem it was the context and the fact Rachel was a freaking virgin a few days prior and he hardly knows Trevor to trust him this much with his woman and to then agree to this and to also have the conversation initially without even discussing it with his girl It also seemed really random and a bit risky. I mean Trevor was ok but Adam didn’t know him well enough for any sort of trust on his part and Rachel is not a toy. Then there’s that fact that they literally advertise their location with those radio broadcasts for other survivors it just seemed stupid and plain dangerous.

There was also some darkness in regards to secondary characters and breadcrumbs where Trevor will get his story next. It may not seem like it but I did enjoy this to a point it just also equally irritated me. I am planning on picking up book two as I want to know more about Trevor overall for me this had equal positives and negatives.

Man, I like scenarios where plucky survivors are trying to figure things out without the creature comforts they're accustomed to and with danger looming on the horizon. To say this series fits the bill would be a mild understatement. It has all the glorious post-apocalytpic shenanigans I want with a side order of pending nuclear meltdown (possibly).

That said, yes, Rachel is often immature and does things without thinking through to the consequences. But it's what I'd expect from a college-aged young woman who has no survival training and little life experience. She does learn. She listens to Adam and starts working on making herself stronger. She might bitch and moan about it, but she does it. Eventually.

On the other hand, Adam is kinda jaded and set in his ways. He knows he can protect himself and Rachel and he has it in his mind that it includes protecting her from him. Admittedly, he's pretty possessive. He wants to call the shots and he doesn't think a sweet young thing like Rachel will be able to handle that. So he tries to stay away. Which doesn't last all that long, but I guess it's the thought that counts, right?

Survivors, a post-apocalyptic world with very few people left alive, danger, and the occasional threesome. I liked it. A lot.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

In some ways this book reminds me of a book called The End of All Things by Lissa Bryan as it runs is a similar via and both are brilliantly written books that really draw you into the world left behind with only a handful of survivors.

The book starts off with Rachel, home alone after her family have died and wondering what she should do next. Then the book goes to Adam and continues in this vein so that we get both points of view of lone smart researched based female and alpha male who has lots of practical ability after having been in the army.

A close environment and very few other survivors lead these two to fall for each other as both do a push me-pull you relationship to begin with but find they cannot resist the inevitable.

The author creates a believable post apocalypse world where in many cases everything has to be started again like the nineteen hundreds.

I really enjoyed this book and would certainly recommend it to others.

As far as she can tell, Rachel Donnelly is the last living soul in California until she runs into a battle-hardened Marine sniper that is not only alive but very healthy indeed in this sizzling and thrilling post-apocalyptic romance.

While Adam would love nothing more than getting very intimate with Rachel in the back of the hummer, her fragility and inexperience hold him back and readers can’t help but get caught up in the unfolding drama as Rachel and Adam band together to survive. The chemistry sizzles and pops from the pages with lots of steamy heat with some very scorching sex scenes including m/f/m scenes and lots of emotional turmoil flows from the pages of this steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement, romance and strong, compelling characters that easily draw you into their story.

In this fascinating post-apocalyptic world there are very few survivors but there is lots of danger and excitement as feral animals, violent ex-cons and motorcycle clubs jockeying for power which has quite a bit of violence happening throughout the story which keeps readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation. The author brings her world to life with well written scenes full of vivid details that make it seem real and therefore easily holds the readers captive until the very end.

Michele Mills created a life like experience in her post-apocalyptic world that frankly gives it a chilling as well sizzling feel, I mean that the events and the situations are quite believable and made me question what would I do if I found myself in this situation. I really liked how she had the characters acting and doing things that someone might really do and not just the obvious ones, like go to the library for research, siphon gas out of vehicles and quite a few other small details that came together making it more realistic and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to find out what happens next.

4 ½ STARS

I got half way through before giving up. I think if the timing was a year or two after the death of most of humanity I could have dealt with some of the story line but I would think neither of these characters would exist after the first year. The guy, yes because he knows weapons, the girl wouldn't survive. The story felt too light for an 'end of the world as you know it' story line. The girl doesn't do guns -well you better learn fast! I just couldn't finish the story.

I’m so mad... I’m part of an online book club, and a while back this was the months pick and everyone who read it was raving about it, that they loved it so much they read all three books back to back. I’d never really participated during our readalongs because I was alway busy, but this sounded like something I’d LOVE> (it was not) and they hyped it up so much I was sure I’d love it too (I did not).

I hated the heroine, and I hated the hero. She was dumb as FUCK, and he was a complete wanker. Examples as to why:
- when they finally come across survivors, there’s a guy with a SWASTIKA on his neck, and a biologist and they’re living it up in a in a bands tour bus. They lure her in there to see how cool it is (after swastika hits on her) and they put on the movie Die Hard. THAT is what makes her demand they travel with them. Not that they have a solar powered bus with heaps of stuff, or anything useful. No, that they have access to watch her favourite fucking movie.
- Biologist has lost his kids and wife, and she’s told about it a page before, then when she’s with him next she’s thinking about how he never smiles and that he looks ‘emotionless’ and later on gets all giddy that she made him smile. He’s depressed, leave him the fuck alone.
- Hero has this ‘kink’ where he basically wants to own her and call ALL the shots in their relationship ship. He also has a kink where he likes to watch other men fuck his> lady and basically gets off on driving the scene. Swastika brings it up she’s the only lady they know is alive and that he wants a piece of her. Hero is against it all until Swastika mentions he will gladly have a threesome with them, be the third and do whatever Hero says & that he’s done it before. Hero is salivating and agrees, as long as Heroine accepts. Hero then pushes them together so she can say yes, then when she finds out and is mad he basically dealt her out, he says to her that Swastika did the right thing by coming to him and asking to make sure he wasn’t stepping on his toes. He continually says their sex stuff is for HER pleasure, while playing out HIS fantasies and not bothering to ask what she’s into...
- she has 30 MINUTE SHOWERS. When Biologist brings it up she basically has a MELTDOWN, claiming she HAS to have showers that long because she’s a female and it’s necessary That they’re that long because she has SO MUCH to do in the shower, like wash and condition her hair, and shave her legs, because she’s a female. Like, is that 100% necessary for survival? And the Dicks that want in her holes both pipe up like ‘she can have my time’ and it don’t mind’, instead of going oh shit probably could use that power for more useful things. For, shave your legs before and rinse them off in the shower. In NO WORLD, is it necessary. You’re wasting precious water for staters. It’s not even the only stupid thing she wastes. Later on Biology comes back and says she’s sneaking outside to turn the generator on every night so she can turn on the air conditioning. He’s all worried about fuel consumption, and she literally got whiney that he was grilling her about why it was going down. She has a tantrum, questions why he’s checking the fuel levels, tries to gaslight him being all like ‘what’s this got to do with me’, tries to pin it on the other guys before admiting, he’s, it was her and that he should handcuff her and take her to jail (sarcastically). He asks why she would do it, and she’s like ‘God, you make it sound like I broke into a blood bank or something, I just turned on the air conditioner. It’s no big deal’ he tells her it is, asks how many hours she left it running because she’s not running out getting more fuel, they are, and she zones out because he’s ‘lecturing’ her. He tells her they’ve all decided they shouldn’t run the air at night and that they’re all not doing it to conserve energy and she’s shocked because they never brought it up and ignored that she was turning it on.... these two probably annoyed me the most. She’s such a princess these three guys are going without and working way harder than they need to, just so she can live like life is normal. Resources run out, especially fuel, and she’s eating away at it without a care in the world.
- then we meet new characters and they’re just as bad. He ran around collecting movie memorabilia, and she stockpiled things she “felt were extremely important-clothes, make-up and accessories” I KID YOU NOT. This lady things clothes, make up and fucking accessories are important in a fucking apocalypse. KILL MEEEEEE. She then goes on to give Heroine a MAKEOVER, after she’s been told her man kidnapped her and her people will be worried. She uses her kid to manipulate Heroine into staying for an hour so she can play barbie. Never mind how impractical she dresses her, but fuck me, it’s just so dumb.
- Then to top it off, new girl is (spoiler for trigger warning)
and after finding her, hero carts her off to the car swiftly and they have sex because she just looks so sexy and they can’t keep their hands off each other. He says she smells so good and she says she shouldn’t because she was locked in a pet cage that was covered in piss and shit, and that he’s lucky, “bad smells seem to bounce off me”.
- also, with Swastika‘a tattoo. It’s heavily implied that that’s the reason they know he was in jail? Like people outside of jail can’t have nazi symbols on their body? “What are you? Prison bait” ... Adam was right. There was a small swastika tattooed on the side of the guy’s neck. She’s watched a TV documentary once on prisons and remembered a swastika on the neck signified membership in an Aryan gang. You had to belong to a gang in prison. If not, you’d be killed.” (I shit you not, she thought that, and I’m still dying laughing thinking about it) also like, how is an Armenian (Biologist) and a Mexican (hero) so fucking calm around a guy with a SWASTIKA on his neck? Genuinely think that shouldn’t have been included AT ALL. Maybe a teardrop tattoo (which would make more sense since he was in for murder) or something, but the swastika has no other point besides them claiming it meant he went to prison. No one was like WOAH A NAZI LETS NOT GO NEAR HIM. They actually got pretty chill with him easily and it was super uncomfortable. I’m still confused by that choice & also just seems kinda uneducated to think only a prisoner could be part of the Aryan gang & that it was basically just a prison thing. And even if it was, they ain’t the only gang in prison, and that would be the one he chose... ew.

Overall, I was annoyed by WAY too many things to enjoy this. All those points weren’t even all the things I hated. Yes, there was more. I don’t even care about book two, and I have it because it was free. The lead up was dumb & swastika was dumb too. ‘Me need woman. Must go alone for best chance to steal woman from other man’. Ugh. WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLES BRAINSSSSSS.

2019 = 3 stars (good)
2021 = reread to write a review

🤷‍♀️ Somehow, a virus wiped out most people on Earth.

Rachel (former college student) and
Adam (former Marine) meet while on the road, looking for survivors and a safe place to live away from all the dead.

The first 40% is the best, when there's strong sexual tension. Adam resists having sex with Rachel b/c she's a virgin and has had bad past experiences. Their first time is the only good scene, though it’s brief. Overall, the sex scenes are disappointing for an erotic post-apocalyptic novel.

The plot is mainly about the MCs' relationship, and those they meet along the way. A small part has to do with what happened or is happening around them, and trying to survive.

While on the road, R & A meet Trevor (an ex-con) and Christian (a former biologist). After doing some research in the library, they go live on a cutting-edge farm, that uses both solar and wind power. That's where most of the story happens.

A Few Things to Note:
● Hot guys and bad guys are plenteous in an apocalypse.

● Women are a rarity; they're greatly prized and have to be protected.

● A lot is made of Adam's kink, but it’s a letdown. Part of it involves sharing his woman and watching her with another man. There's only one slightly sexy ménage scene, and though it's supposed to continue, it all happens off-page. ☹️

● Anal sex is SO unrealistic, just push it in and the minimal pain quickly turns to pleasure. Yeah, right. 🙄

● Some things don’t make sense. They chose a farm powered by both solar and wind, yet an issue arises when one of the characters uses too much fuel. Shortly after, someone else gets upset and drives off in his truck for two hours to cool down, wasting precious fuel for no reason. 😬

I liked it enough to finish with minimal skimming. I'll never reread it again, though.

Excessive Language: 291 F's + religious swear words

Edited to Add: Book 2 in the series was a DNF. It was boring and required major skimming. I finally gave up at the 31% mark. Reading the reviews about what happens later on, made me glad that I did.

WOWZA! What a fantastic post-apocalyptic romance that is stunning, passionate, sexy, defiant, and with some super HOT guys that will make you glad to be the last woman on earth! I have been looking for good post-apocalyptic romances since Kylie Scott's Flesh series and I only found less then a handful since. I can now add Michele Mills to my list with her catastrophe series. This book happens to be the first book in this series so its a pleasure to have read and now, reviewing this first book.

The characters in Die For You are ridiculously amazing! And the plot? Hot Damn, its perfection! I absolutely adore these kind of plots because, lets face it, if a real apocalypse were to happen, we would hope men will treat women like they are rare and precious and for those with honor, they will want to protect us and cherish us. Plus the normal rules of society don't matter any more and ANYTHING is possible. And we get that in Die For You.

A HEART THUMPING FOUR AND A HALF SHOOTING STARS goes to Die For You by Michele Mills! It was a fast-paced, obsessive read that I enjoyed immensely and am now BEGGING for book two. An absolute DIE FOR book

Damn, there were so many things I loved about Die For You but there were also many things that made me roll my eyes until it hurt.
I honestly couldn't imagine how it was possible Rachel managed to survive alone in that post-apocalyptic situation for sixty-two days. Really, she was so immature and incapable of facing the reality, it was almost hilarious.
What I loved the most was the awkwardness and palpable tension among all characters. Whether it was written like that intentionally or not, it felt real and appropriate for post-apocalyptic times.

I really liked this post apocalyptic book! The plot was different from the same old zombie books I've read recently. Pretty much everyone is killed off by a virus, like on the show Last Man on Earth. Instead of the threat being flesh eating zombies, gangs of hostile humans are what to watch out for after society falls. Throw in a hot romance and a small group of survivors and you've got an enjoyable read. Not as much action as I usually expect from the PA genre.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This was an awesome first book of a new apocalyptic series featuring an alpha male and a seemingly innocent woman. I loved how the author threw them together an made them work together to overcome different obstacles. Definitely a great book.

I really liked the first half of this book, but admit to skimming the second half. The characters were well written and it was interesting to read how they struggled against the backdrop of the virus-ridden world where few survivors exist. It's a solid start to a series if you like the "kink" involved. Won't say too much about that as don't want to give anything away, but it wasn't for me.

Ok....I....oh boy.....OK.

I liked this, but there were a lot of parts that I didn't.

Let's start with characters.

Hated Rachel. Usually I'm biased because we share the same namesake, but I hated her. So. Freaking. Much. All she did was bitch and complain about the ending and all this shit. She kept saying that she was going to do better and be better...but she never was. Also, I understand that you hate your body, but damn girl! The world just ended and you are still self-conscious about that? There are more pressing issues like, I don't know, survival! And, please understand, that I am in no way making fun of people who have body-confidence issues or have been victims of assault but holy crap! If it wasn't one thing, it was another with her and the freaking gun thing! When we first meet her she has a gun in her hand and is pointing it at Sanchez and seems fine with it. Then a little bit further into the book she is terrified of even the thought of holding a gun and goes into this massively long story about how she shot her sister when she was 6. Literally this entire book was a pity party for her. I got so sick of hearing about her shit. And don't even get me started on her bitching about how she can't have a 30 minute shower!

And what does Sanchez do about this? Endures it and gives her the pity. Then he goes on to freak out about how he thinks he's going to lose her because he likes to watch his girl get screwed by other men. Guy is into voyeurism, and I'm pretty sure that little tidbit is only thrown in there so the author could put in a threesome scene. The sad part? That's the only decent sex scene and it wasn't even that great, pretty basic all things considered. Sanchez basically realizes that he loves her because she was willing (and enjoyed) having threesomes, but before he realizes this he goes on to think (after their first threesome) "She kept her eyes on me the entire time. Yes, she knows who her master is". Ummmm......what? Usually being a "master" entails a little more than her willingly screwing two guys at once because he has a fetish, but whatever. He's patient and willing to help with all her issues (every...damn...one) so I didn't mind him. The voyeur aspect was different and I didn't mind it, even thought I didn't like that he gave permission to Trevor without completely letting Rachel in on it), but I didn't like the fact that he could only love her if she was willing to screw other guys in front of him.

Also, when whatshisface said that it would "be his baby too" I didn't take that the same way Sanchez did, to me it made it seem that they would all be taking care of the baby because they are all a group and the world has ended and they only have each other. Apparently Sanchez took this as her screwing the third guy, and without his "permission".

I liked the flow of the story and the reason behind the survivors, and it did get pretty intense during some bits that really had me going and did like the threesome scene, but I couldn't get past Rachel. At one point I thought she was going to be better, but by the next paragraph I wanted to throw her in the Grand Canyon. This was my first post-apocalyptic book and I didn't hate the story, but I really hated the lead female.

I thought this would be much more gritty and dire but it was more just a tumultuous romance novel. Not to say it was bad, it wasn't, I just went in with certain expectations that were different than the reality.

So we have a young girl that deals with tragedy and is quite naive at the same time as being incredibly adaptable and has an inner strength that gets her through all the crazy. Points for her. Then there's the bad boy military guy who has trouble accepting the box he tries putting her in. He's drawn to her physically and is surprised, yet pleased, to find that she appeals to him on many other levels too. Romance set up complete. Oh, and the incredible cheesiness of some of the things in Rachel's head... I mean, "obviously plain compared to his everyone burrito"? Really? *groans*

So enter distractions and antagonists. The bad guys are really bad guys but aren't around much until the end, which is fine because they find Trevor and Christian along the way and all the drama that comes from lonely survivors. The stuff with Trevor is both sexy and also disconcerting since Rachel is left out of most of the discussions. A bit more warning, clear expectations and explanations, and some stretching were missing.

Overall the post-apocalyptic world set up was there but not as dire as I expected. Rabid men and animals were definitely present and there was a number thrown out for possible survivors that sets up more for the series. There's a ton of drama and not enough emotional and mental resolution for Phoebe (but since she's not the MC I guess her stuff gets swept under the rug), and there's the nuclear and medical elements that hang loose that will either remain giant loose ends that don't get taken care of or will be addressed in future books. Let's hope for the latter. And since bad guys are always counted among the survivors, there's sure to be more drama in subsequent novels to look forward to.

It’s the end of the world. Almost. After a virus swept the globe and killed billions, there are only a few survivors. Survivors whom are immune to the disease. No one knows why. It’s the wild west out there and no one is safe.

Rachel Donnelly watched her entire family die of the virus. She doesn’t know why she is immune. What she does know is that she may be the last person that is alive in California. When she decides she can’t stay at her home anymore, she heads for the freeway. Which was not the best choice. There she meets Adam Sanchez, an ex-marine that is also immune. Not to mention his incredible survival skills.

Adam wants Rachel the first moment he sees her. One problem…she’s nineteen years old. He’s in his thirties. Rachel is obviously someone that needs to be protected. She appears to be completely naïve about the situation that they are in. She’s soft and unprepared for the new life they have found themselves living. Adam has very specific sexual preferences and he’s pretty positive that Rachel will never be able to give him what he needs.

As the months go by, Rachel slowly changes into a strong, capable woman that may not need Adam. They have found a home base on a farm where they will be self-sustainable. They are also safe from nuclear fallout. Nothing goes as planned, of course. Rachel loves Adam and has to convince him that they are right for each other. It’s not as hard as she suspected it would be, but that doesn’t end the problems that come their way.

Now they know that there are survivors out there. Evil survivors that care nothing but taking what they want. Good survivors, people that want nothing more than to be safe and find a community to be apart of.

I really, really liked this book. I’m a sucker for dystopian/post-apocalypse books. This series immediately had be hooked and moving onto the next book.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Rachel and Adam have both survived a plague that has killed most of the planet's population. Both searching for signs of other human life, they meet on a freeway. I was surprised that in their first meeting each of them was thinking about how hot the other was. Particularly Adam who was clearly looking forward to getting Rachel into bed.

The prominence of the romance and sexual relationship of our characters initially surprised me and I wasn't sure it was going to work. But it does. The relationship between Adam and Rachel shares top billing with their fight for survival. Ultimately, this keeps the story from becoming too heavy and parts of it are fun and sexy and have the usually romance dramas. We also have plenty of action as they deal with issues with other survivors and wild animals.

Die for your is a fast paced, engaging story and I read it up in less than a day. I couldn't put it down. This is a really good take on the end of the world type book and I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

First read by author first in series...

I loved the blurb and idea for this book. Such a great concept.

I really enjoyed the originality of the story and the build up between Rachel and and..and as much as I’ve read ménage and m/f/m books in the past... I will admit I did deflate when I realised it was gonna go that way between Adam, Rachel and Trevor...I’m a stickler I don’t like when my genres cross and I hadn’t expected it in this book...BUT I was pleasantly surprised with the way it was dealt with and thought that the interaction between the main couple was actually quite sweet and as much as it was Adams ‘kink’... it was explored between a consenting trio of adults and didn’t actually damage or impact on the couples relationship.

I liked the fact that the book had a quality story to it and there was a respectful and enjoyable balance between the two story threads ( lusty v’s rebuilding world after outbreak ) and I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment.

Rachel and Adam

Turns out they’re not the last two people left on earth but there are only a few left after a virus wipes out 99.9% of the population.

They leave San Diego in search of others and a safe place to survive.

Rachel was only 19 when everyone she knew and loved died, she acted more like 12. Adam forced her to grow up and be the self-reliant woman she was by the end of the story.

Post apocalyptic
Age gap
Forced proximity
Survival

All things I love, but just not a whole lot of chemistry between the characters for me to really get into it. I was expecting more kink too, since the hero likes to be a cuck. There was only one mfm scene though

Overall an interesting idea and story that I did want to finish. A lot of telling and no showing

Umm

So Adam and Rachel meet two other men on their journey. One is an Armenian man. The other is annex con with a Swastika tattoo on his neck. Rachel is very trusting of this man immediately. Adam eventually shares her with this Aryan gang member. He goes on to become the hero of the next book. I don't like that.
