After reading The Divided Mind by Dr Sarno and a few months later coming across The Great Pain Deception by Steven Ozanich, I had my own epiphany : No, there is nothing wrong with my body though I have been a TMS sufferer for years.
I confess having had ups and downs all the way knowing that some more work should be done but I was neglecting physical activity.
I don't manage to read the key chapters of Dr Sarno's book every day as recommended and Steven's book (The Great Pain Deception) has helped me understand why.
In this much shorter book Steven not only pays a well deserved tribute to the good doctor but reaffirms some very true things that one must never forget, the top 10 things that we must ALWAYS keep in mind.
Having this book in my kindle is a blessing, I carry it everywhere and I know it is at hand in case I need a brush up of my knowledge of TMS (and we always need one).
Today I swim once a week and walk an hour a day, there is still pain but I come from a very dark place in terms of suffering and I owe so much to both Dr Sarno and Steven O that, honest to God, if I could hug them and tell them how much they have helped and are still helping, I would jump on the first flight to the USA.
Don't let yourself be fooled by other so called Cure books, they are rip offs and deserve to end up in the bin.
This one is affordable, short enough to be re read as much as needed withour feeling bored also because Steven O's humour is present all along and this is precious. We need to laugh, we need to feel empowered and live again. No battle is lost, pain can be overcome and many
other ailments alike.
A big thank you from France Mr Ozanich.

A helpful summary of Dr. Sarno’s approach, alongside some wiki pages on TMS. A nice introduction to the approach, but I suspect actually reading Sarno’s large body of work would be necessary to use the approach properly. I don’t feel like I “get” it well enough to employ it for my own self care just yet, but am intrigued to find out more.

Most eye opening! We have all been deceived all our lives by unnecessary surgeries when all along our minds have controlled our bodies! You can heal yourself of all the pain!

Wonderful! Must read if you want to be free of pain forever! I am on the way to healing and urge everyone to do the same!!!

Maybe slightly useful as a reminder/overview... but (of course) Sarno's books and the TMS wiki are the best places to really get down to business.

"Science doesn't reveal truth. It often distorts it."
'The belief that the physical body is the cause of pain keeps the sufferer in pain."
Sarno believes in connecting the pain with the emotions which results in healing.
I liked all of Sarno's concepts, which are not new to me. Ozanich did a good job of condensing and explaining.

Interesting and helpful recap of Dr Sarno's work. However, I do think that one has to have read the original work to gain true benefit. Specifically, I was glad to find this book as I struggled with a bout of back pain. However, it was because I had previously read one of Dr. Sarno's great book on healing back pain that this title was effective.

I did not think much of this book. It’s mostly fawning praise for Dr. Sarno and not much useful information, if any.

Helpful summary, but not one of my more favorite resources. I'm not sure if it was the author or the narrator that annoyed me.

Excellent book. The mind body prescription is a better in my opinion but this book is more to the point. I recommend it.

As far as I'm concerned, the more people write about the work of John Sarno, the better for the world.

Top 10 listicle, straight to the point. It was like an appetizer for me to read some of Dr Sarno’s work.

This is actually my favorite book about John Sarno's methods of treating TMS, including John Sarno's own books! It's summarized concisely and helpful to review again and again.

The Truth

This is truly the path to understanding your pain. Having had chronic pain for last 5 years I now understand my emotions have led me down this dark path. Lot of work to be done but there is hope!!!
