“EveryDay” meets “Quantum Leap’ in “Karma Police,” the thrilling new series from the bestselling authors of “Yesterday’s Gone.”
I am a Jumper — someone stuck waking up a new body every day or so.
I don’t know why this is happening. Nor do I remember anything of my life prior to this.
But when I begin to hear strange staticky messages, I run into someone from my past. Someone who not only knows who I am, but WHAT I am.
And now I find myself waking up on the same street every day in a different neighbor’s life.
The one thing they all have in common: their proximity to an abusive man who is a threat to the woman and child living with him.
What if the only way to save them is to kill a man in cold blood, before he’s even committed a crime?
“Karma Police” is the second novella in the “Karma Police” series by Sean Platt and David Wright. Each book is a standalone story in the series, with three books coming out in the first half of 2016 and another three planned for later this year.
Sean loves writing books, even more than reading them. He is co-founder of Collective Inkwell and Realm & Sands imprints, writes for children under the name Guy Incognito, and has more than his share of nose.
Together with co-authors David Wright and Johnny B. Truant, Sean has written the series Yesterdays Gone, WhiteSpace, ForNevermore, Available Darkness, Dark Crossings, Unicorn Western, The Beam, Namaste, Robot Proletariat, Cursed, Greens, Space Shuttle, and Everyone Gets Divorced. He also co-wrote the how-to indie book, Write. Publish. Repeat.
With Collective Inkwell Yesterday's Gone: Post Apocalyptic - LOST by way of The Stand WhiteSpace: Paranoid thriller on fictitious Hamilton Island ForNevermore: YA horror that reads nothing like YA Horror Available Darkness: A new breed of vampire thriller Dark Crossings: Short stories, killer endings
With 47North Z 2134: The Walking Dead meets The Hunger Games Monstrous: Beauty and the Beast meets The Punisher
With Realm & Sands Unicorn Western: The best story to ever come from a stupid idea The Beam: Smart sci-fi to make you wonder exactly who we are Namaste: A revenge thriller like nothing you've ever read Robot Proletariat: The revolution starts here Cursed: The old werewolf legend turned upside down Greens: Retail noir comedy Space Shuttle: Over the top comedy with all your favorite sci-fi characters Everyone Gets Divorced: Like "Always Sunny" and "How I Met Your Mother" had a baby on your Kindle

The "King of Serials" just keeps on torturing us with a little peek into his demented mind one month at a time. I love to hate this guy. I haven't read a stinker from the Inkwell yet, and I have pretty much read them all. Rock on.
Quick action sci-fi thriller holds my attention all the way through.
Book Two in the Karma Police series keeps me engaged, wondering how far the protagonist will go to protect the other characters he cares about. He wonders if violence and murder might be a bad thing to do and his moral compass changes quickly with his circumstances. This isn't a deep-thinking plot, but it isn't shallow either, so it's a good book for a quick escape from reality. On my way to book #3!
The 'Karma Police' series is more fun than an acre of piglets. They're short, fast reads that pack a lot of punch; then the ending leaves the reader saying "Whaaaaaaat!?"
Like the first book in the series, 'Jumper', 'Karma Police Book 2' does a crackerjack job of revealing the character of the people Ella jumps into. She may only spend a day with them, but by the end of the day the reader knows the character like a close friend. it's a rare talent to shine so much light on a character in such a short amount of narrative.
In 'Karma Police 2', the jumper is dropped into the periphery of a dysfunctional family with an abusive husband/father. The authors ratchet up the tension and the situation quickly becomes explosive. The series backstory starts to be revealed, as some of the mechanics of 'jumping' enter the narrative and the plot necessitates a few peeks into the mysterious forces that control the jumpers and the assassins. And Ella is warned again that nothing good will come from her efforts to learn how and why she became a jumper. As the assassin tells her, "I learned long ago it's pointless to question The List."
And lastly, a jaw-whopper of an epilogue sets up the next book in a way that leaves the reader wanting it right here, right now!
Holy crap! So I just finished reading Karma Police Book 2, and I mean seconds ago. Still a TON of adrenaline pulsing through my veins.
BREATHE!!!!!!
Okay, listen, this is going to be tough. Not sure if I can say all the good things I want to say in this short review, right now I'm an adrenaline crazed word junkie with a post traumatic reading disorder and an emotional hangover, but I'll do my best.
I absolutely LOVE this format! This whole novella series idea is brilliant, the boys are onto something spectacular!
I love how each book has its own plot, its own protagonist, and its own self-contained story while the story's overarching tension continues to rise at a completely INSANE rate!
And the ending, oh my God the ending!!!
All of this and we still don't know who the protagonist is, why he's doing what he does, or why any of it is happening in the first place!
Anyway, if you haven't guessed, I'm recommending this series BIG TIME, but right now I need my teddy bear and a nap.
Karma Police, the second in the Karma Police series, was a fantastic follow up to the first book, Jumper. Sean Platt and David Wright are sensational writers who know how to craft characters that you care about from the first page until the last. Even though you still don't know that much bout the main character, I crave more of the story. I want to know what happens to the "Jumper", who they are, and how they came to be in the position they are in. The plot is interesting and is perfectly paced. Its exciting, pulling you through twists and turns that you never entirely see coming. You think you know what's going to happen, but you don't. Seriously, you don't. I am eagerly awaiting the third book. I read these books as apart of the Kindle Unlimited program, but I'm looking forward to purchasing the paperback copies to add to my bookshelf. More in-depth review to come on my youtube channel next month!
In this second book in the series, both we readers and the jumper see the first glimpses of the logic behind the body jumping.
And that's where things get interesting: while you can read this novella as an entertaining and heart wrenching story of the jumper trying to help a family in trouble, the backstory and its big mystery is what really drives the series forward.
In fact, the epilogue (I can't say more about it so I won't spoil anything) almost made me bump the rating up to five stars... I might do that in the next book.
If you're a fan of Platt and Wright, you'll love this book. It has all their trademark elements from children in jeopardy to scifi/supernatural elements and tons of action. And of course, that great mystery of who the jumper really is!
This was a really quick read and continues the story from the first entry in the Karma Police series. Ella is beginning to understand a bit more about her situation, jumping from body to body each day, and has once again stayed in a fairly small geographic area following the situation of a young boy and his mom who are being abused by the mom´s boyfriend. It appears that she, and others like her, are assigned to get rid of people on a list. The issue to her is that whoever she is occupying is left holding the bag for any karmic revenge she inflicts. This one leaves you hanging for the next in the series after she kills the abusive boyfriend while in the body of the boy´s tutor. This series certainly has a unique point of view, but I´m not sure if it´s my cup of tea.
I loved the first book of this series, so I was cautiously optimistic about this new one. Would it give me the same excitement that the first book gave me? Would I love it as much?
The answer to both questions is a very big YES.
If you enjoyed the first book, Jumper, then do not hesitate in reading The Karma Police. If you haven't read the first one yet, go check it out. It's a great read.
Personally, I enjoyed this book even more than Jumper, which was a very nice and welcome surprise for me. I'm already ready for Book #3. Bring it on, Sean and David! :-)
Fast-paced and inventive, Karma Police is the thrilling second installment in the series of the same name. Authors Platt and Wright expertly craft a compelling protagonist without a body or memories in Ella, the Jumper whose mysterious presence in the body of a new host every day pulls the reader into their interconnected lives. I eagerly await the next one.
I have been a " Goner" since I discovered Sean and David Wright. This new series has me waiting for the next one to come out with child-like anticipation. The exciting twist at the end left me really wondering where the next one will take me. Karma Police is a winner.
Wow. The 2nd book of this series did NOT disappoint. The mystery is slowly starting to unravel a bit, but still leaves a lot of mystery, and ends with a bang. I can't wait for book 3 to come out.
It's an interesting premise and I thought this second installment was better than the first as the mystery of the main character's predicament is slowly being revealed yet there is still much more to learn which is why I plan to read the next installment.
