Total bullish**, I am so frustrated with authors who can't/won't finish a freaking story ..Are they that poor that they need to make multiple books out of one story to sell to survive? Don't we the readers spend our hard earned money and time on these books? Do we not count??? Finish a bloody book please!!! The story is just ok, I enjoyed the characters ok, I didn't really feel a connection to our leading lady. I felt like she was way to immature and a push over. The story seemed like a good concept but just didn't work for me even if it hadn't been a cliffhanger, that just sealed its fate as well as further reading any books by this author. WTF people, how would you like to read only half a story hum??? Wouldn't would you?! so quit writing them and expecting we the readers to follow you with this bullish**!! Sorry about the tangent, just sick of cliffhangers. I guess I should have read the reviews closer, but picked this up awhile back and was in my library, so just started reading..big mistake!

If you like MC stories, then you MUST read "RESISTING THE BIKER!" It is witty, moving, sometimes scary, and in every way a well written and compelling MC novel. AND - I have a new FAVORITE AUTHOR TEAM to add to my list! While I love to read books about motorcycle clubs, I've noticed the pattern of the bad-boy-who-grows-a-heart-when-he-finally-falls-in-love-and-then-he-leaves-the-club-or-the-club-goes-legit. Despite the predictable pattern, I still love MC tales! Doesn't matter if the MC is a one-percenter or makes its money running something less than legal, I love the tales. Knowing that, imagine my excitement when I was offered a free-tease MC tale from a writer who up to that point was not on my radar! Then, to top off my happiness, this new author (Who is actually part of a writing team) offers what I feel is an amazing piece as her free-tease!?! I am in Heaven! Then I find out this is one of a series of MC tales by this writing team and that the series was published in 2015? I am OUT - going to go read the other 7 books this weekend! (Well, maybe make a good start on it! LOL) The prose is easy to read, the characters genuine and well-developed, and the plot compelling to keep the lamp burning long after lights should have been out.

Starting reading this story last night and finished this morning. The start was bit a bang with about Jessica who all but disappears from the story after that? The story is about Adriana is a young woman who has had a sheltered life and has fallen into a "relationship" with Raptor, a biker. Adriana is so young and dumb its killed me. Lots of dark MC drama which was interesting. Wanted to hear more about Jessica and perhaps Judge???? What happened to them?

And just when the story was about to come together it ended on a cliffhanger; That was totally a surprise... no warning... no nothing. Then the end said the next book would be available in May 2015. Which we know are not always correct. My curiosity is killing me on this one.

I mean will they get together or won't they? What happened to Jessica? Who really killed Adriana's friend? Who is pregnant? Could we kill Brandy? Definitely let's kill Misty? Is she still a breathing club whore? Will Adriana grown up? What about Monica and her baby? Will Tank be okay? By the time May 2015 arrives will I have moved on to another MC??? Time will tell people.

********* Spoiler Alert**************

Actually really enjoyed this story till I reached the end, thats where I completely lost interest in maybe reading book 2. Hate cliff hangers and the other woman baby mama drama. Too much left up in the air with the bestie's murder , then ex girlfriend drama... Not for me. Actually was into the book till the last few pages, highly disappointed but if cliffhangers and baby mama drama is your thing read this book.

He grinned. "I am woman. Hear me roar, huh?"
"Damn right," I said, smiling back. I raised my hand and clawed the air. "Roar."

He unzipped the top and began rummaging through it. "Jeez, how much stuff can one girl carry around in here?" he asked, waving a tampon. "Got your friend, huh? This is probably a good deterrent. Try waving it in the air if you run into trouble. Nobody will mess with your shit. Believe me."

Alright that part made me laugh.

DNF at about 60% with some skimming until the end.

This is one of those books where it's so bad from the beginning that I keep reading just to see how truly bad it's going to be. I kept hoping for a so bad it's good type of book (see Tillie Cole for a perfect example of that in motorcycle club romance). This was just bad. Writing, plot, dialog, everything just didn't work. The thing is, I can see a good story in here somewhere. This reads like a first draft that needed serious editing before publication, but that editing never happened and this very rough draft was published instead. I'm glad I quit reading when I did and just skimmed until the end where I discover a non-ending/cliffhanger/mid-scene end. Talk about insult to injury. Read Tillie Cole or Laura Kaye for better examples of this sub-genre.

Audiobook

Narration - Nina Sumter - Fabulous, and bad and good and...
This gal has a really great voice and has a male voice that is spectacular - so that's the fabulous part.
The bad is that the rest of her characters are just a bit too characterish - over the top, almost cartoonish like for a SNL skit. Her rougher male character voices sound a little like Bobcat Goldthwait. It was sort of distracting. IMHO if she kept her main characters as strong as they are and just did a small variation for the other male and female secondary characters it would be much more enjoyable to listen. Ultimately by trying to make each and every character it's own "character voice" without the vocal chords that are capable of such a feat, they end up becoming "characters" in the 'Saturday Night Live' sense instead of in the dramatic sense. I don't mean this as a slam, because there are very few people out there who have the ability to create dozens of unique sounding voices that are just normal human voices.

The story? Well, this is tough, because I've read some really good MC books and by comparison, this one falls a little short.
The story is written in multiple POV's and frequently switches back and forth within the same chapter and even in the same scene (including switching in the middle of a sex scene). The prologue starts off with a violent rape scene with a character that we virtually never hear from again in the book. Very little time is actually spent with the MC club, We meet very few of the club members, and get sporadic and limited details regarding their enemy or rival clubs and why exactly they are the type of enemies that would call for the level of violence towards each other.

The two main characters fall in love somehow, but I didn't feel any real connection to either of them or feel like I was along for the process of them falling in love. When the chemistry and banter are right, you find yourself falling in love right along with them and I just didn't get that here. You feel me?

It was ok, but there's definitely room for growth on this one. Oh, and be prepared for a whole lot of loose ends and a big ole giant cliff to dangle off in the end.

I received a copy of this audiobook free of charge from audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review

The story started out with somewhat of a bang! It's through Jessica's POV and What happens to Jessica grabbed my attention and then ......... nothing! Her character kind of disappears. Yes, the story talks about the situation and how the club will handle it. But - I felt for that to be such a HUGE part of the story - it was a disappointment the way the author just put her into the background.

We follow Adriana for most of the story. A young, sheltered, naive girl. Who basically falls into the hands of Raptor. This character bugged the Sh*t out of me. One minute - oh I can't be a part of your world then the next she is right back in bed with him. And don't even get me started on the relationship she has with her mom and allowing her mom to tell her what to do still at the age of 21. Adriana's character was all over the place.

Raptor - hmmmmmmmm....... I liked him for the most part. Comes across as the typical bad ass alpha male biker we read about....then it's like within 2 days he's P*ssy whipped over Adriana. All of a sudden this girl is his old lady. The back and forth between them was a bit too much.

Then we have the best friend - and the incident that happens to her. It felt out of place to me and that's about where the story lost me. The cliffhanger - saw it coming and TBH I think the author could have carried this book out a little more.

The MC part of it fell flat. I mean - what MC Prez is going to "let it go" and not retaliate when something AWFUL happens to his soon to be stepdaughter by another MC? NONE!

I am curious to find out if "Judge" will get his book.... I think his character spoke to me the most!
The book was overall "Okay" I mean it was not a HORRIBLE read..... I think it could have been better. I will read the next one to see if things get better and questions are answered......

Just...no. I gave up when we got to "he put on Nickelback" because no real man is going to put on Nickelback to make out or have sex with a girl he's interested in. No guy.

I didn't realize this was a 2 parter, so going in, just know it doesn't end. I found it a little juvenile in that a lot of the language didn't seem to fit the part of the characters, as well as some of the drama. I know they are all very young, but since they are all technically adults, they could have acted liked adults a little bit more. The killing of a major character part of the way through kind of through me for a loop, it was unexpected, especially that they seemed to move on so quickly.

Overall, it was a quick read, but don't expect any real deep plot happening.

This review is a bit hard for me to write. I liked some parts of this story but this book was all over the place. We have a rape, we have a secret brother, we have the first murder, we have retaliation with the second murder, we have a surprise pregnancy and then another surprise. All of these would make an interesting book where you expanded the story and had some depth, but none of these were written with much real satisfaction.

Plus, I really didn't like the heroine in this book. She was all little miss goody two shoes and then wam bam Insta love with a biker. It was very unbelievable. She tries to be all Betty badass with her " I will never see him again" attitude which led to a very immature bar scene. I also did not feel the grieving (I don't do spoilers so I can't say more) was at all believable. I hope if I died the people who claimed to love me wouldn't get drunk and randomly screw at my celebration of life. Lastly, don't even look at me and say you love me and then let another woman move in.... I don't care what the circumstances may be.

One more word... cliffy.

Adriana is out for a night with friends when she meets Raptor who steps in to help her, pretending to claim her as his woman from another insistent biker. Raptor is attracted to Adriana but she makes her disdain for bikers apparent but he gives her a quick lesson about her misconceptions, especially about him. After Adriana ends up in trouble she calls Raptor for help and he steps up in a big way.

Raptor wants Adriana but Adriana is not sure what she wants, partly because of her family history. Can Adriana follow her heart or will outside influences tear them apart?

This has a cliffhanger which I was disappointed to see. I thought Adriana was a bit too much at times, I wondered what Raptor saw in her in some of those moments. A bit angsty and I had not realized cliffhanger so didn't feel like I got the full story.

This review is of “Resisting the Biker-An Alpha Motorcycle Club Romance” by Cassie Alexandra.

The Story: The book begins in Iowa, with a young woman named Jessica Winters being raped by a man. Later, the story abruptly pivots to another young woman named Adriana Nikolas, a college student who attends an Iowa university and lives with her mother, Vanda, who owns a jewelry store; Vanda’s husband and Adriana’s father was killed in a robbery at their former store in Florida by a member of a motorcycle gang. Which is why Vanda doesn’t want Adriana getting involved with the hero of the book, a guy named Trevor Larson, aka Raptor, Road Captain of the Gold Vipers MC. Adriana does get involved with Raptor, however, a decision which leads to happiness, heartache and a cliffhanger; their story is concluded in the following book “Surviving the Biker”.

Positives: Despite the “outlaw” reputation, in many way the MC has some of the same values and beliefs as other parts of society do. Raptor crosses back and forth between being a bad boy and a good man.

Negatives: The characters aren’t particularly deep or interesting. Adriana is whiny and immature; she is 21. Raptor, at times, also is immature and whiny. (Or maybe I have issues with New Adult books.) Even if there is a HEA in the next book, I really can’t see these two spending the rest of their lives together.

Sex: A few scenes, which try to be hot but end up emotionally vacuous.

Violence: In addition to Jessica’s rape in the prologue-her story comes in the third book “Fearing the Biker”-there are other scenes of violence. The “man” who raped her is killed. Adriana is nearly raped-Raptor threatens to unman and later punches the guy- and her best friend is raped and murdered in retaliation for the murder of Jessica’s rapist. The violence isn’t graphic, but it’s there.

Note: The book also contains-from the synopsis: graphic themes, crude language and drug use.

Bottom Line: Will I be reading the other books in the series? Not if I can help it. If “Resisting the Biker” weren’t free, I wouldn’t have read it.

CONS:

the very opening of the book. I was so turned off by it, I almost didn't continue reading the book after the prologue. then I was extremely confused. was Adriana, Jessica? and she had changed her name after what happened to her? plus she's literally in the story for about 30 seconds and we don't hear from her ever again? especially after what happens to her. nope.

Tank is a jerk. actually Krystal is a horrible friend as well. she's taking drugs, brings her friend unprotected into that biker strip club. she keeps saying she's going to break up with Tank but is afraid. but Tanks a good guy, right? and also, when what happens to Krystal, happens, where's Tank? trying to screw a double jointed skank he meets at the strip club. nope.

the ending. and not just the fact that it's a cliffhanger. the baby mama drama was just too much for me. *****SPOILER***** then, Trevor invites said drama to live with him? minutes after proposing to/planning to go the old lady route with Adriana? nope, nope.

the word honey hole being used to describe a vagina. NOOOOOO!

PROS:

Trevor. and that's just until his stupid choices at the end. he helps Adriana many times, after her mom treats him like crap, he is protective and loving and didn't just want in her pants. I mean, of course he does, but he wants more than that. he is a great guy.

yeah idk if there are any more pros for me. I'll think about it and get back to you.

This book was insane! Lets start with the prologue...girl gets raped by random biker all because her mom is involved with another biker this guys knows and hates...mom stays with and marries biker after daughter gets raped...wtf! What mother would do that! Its your new mans world that has attacked your daughter and you stay in that world willingly...unreal! Moving on...dumb college girl goes to biker bar with stupid bestie and gets accosted by same rapist only to be "rescued" by another "good guy" biker. This on going rivalry between rapist club and "good" guy club causes stupid bestie to get raped, tortured, and murdered but dumb college girl still gets involved and falls in love with her biker...the entire time im reading this book all im thinking is how many times do you have to get kidnapped and molested by people who only have you on their radar because of your boyfriend before you run like hell! All the men in this series kept telling these dumbass women they would keep them safe and not to worry and hen you turn the page and these stupid women are kidnapped, raped, molested or murdered! At what point to you say " im out!" These women took stand by your man to ridiculous levels! Dont bother with this story

I can't even describe how much I liked this book!!
For starters, Raptor is SO FREAKING AWESOME! I mean he has a heart of freaking gold, he takes in the youths in his home if they have no where to go?
Adriana on the other hand is a bit too sheltered? I mean why is her mother still telling her what to where and what to eat. I know that you do not want to leave her alone after your father died but if you don't move on with your own life she is never going to either!
I did feel super bad for Krystal it really seemed like it was a case of in the wrong place at the wrong time kind of thing, and even if he did try to act all hard and stuff, Tank really did love that girl.
Now for the cliffhanger of the freaking century! You finally get Raptor to admit that he wants Adriana to be his old lady and even think about getting out of the life, they start on their future together and you have this DIRTY BIRD, Brandy show up talking about she is pregnant!!!
I just wanted to die. They went through so much to have it stopped by her! Ugh!

Books that end in suspense are the best and the worst.
the opening was Jessica's pov and it started with a big boom and bang.then she is only mentioned in the passing i really did want closure for her illtreatment. Being the alpha male he is Raptor is ... actually i don't know what he is he was coming off good but at the end his character was completely destroyed for me.wow but that ending was good really good.
Adriana is not as daring as her BFF but she still holds her own.she falls in love with the bad boy biker.but what hit me the hardest was her bff's fate and the cold heart of her ex who happens to be raptors best friend.
well this is a steamy romance but i did feel confused at some points and felt that the decisions that they were making are so stupid that even a baby could do better but the drama in this book covered all that up.is because i am a sucker for drama.

This was first free book in iBooks that I actually finished instead of DNFing.

I don't really get what was the point with prologue? Jessica was mentioned only few times after that. Writer could've just told what happened to her.

I thought it was cute how Raptor calls Adriana kitten.

I don't like how they had sex for the first time after a funeral and then that cliffhanger? I just don't feel compelled to read book 2.
