மகாபாரத நாவல் வரிசையான வெண்முரசின் ஒரு சிறுபகுதி
பொதுவாக மகாபாரத தொலைக்காட்சித்தொடர்களிலும் காலட்சேபங்களிலும் கெட்டவர்களாகவே திருதராஷ்டிரரும் காந்தாரியும் காட்டப்படுகிறார்கள். அப்படியென்றால் தவசீலரான விதுரரும் பீஷ்மரும் ஏன் கடைசிவரை அவருடன் இருந்தனர் என்னும் கேள்விக்கு அவற்றில் விடை இருக்காது. உண்மையில் மகாபாரதத்தில் அவர்கள் இருவரும் மகத்தான மனிதர்களாகவே சித்தரிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். வரலாற்றின் அலைகளும் மானுட அடிப்படையான பாசத்தின் விசைகளும் அவர்களை அடித்துச்சென்றன.
இந்நாவல் திருதராஷ்டிரனின் கதை. அவர் காந்தாரியை மணந்ததும் அதற்குப்பின்னால் இருந்த அரசியல்களும் அவர்களுக்கிடையே இருந்த உணர்வுபூர்வமான உறவும் பீஷ்மரும் விதுரரும் திருதராஷ்டிரரிடம் கொண்ட அணுக்கமும் இதில் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளன. இது மழைப்பாடல் நாவலில் இருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட சுருக்கமான கதைவடிவம். கதையோட்டத்திலும் மையத்தரிசனத்திலும் இது முழுமையான நாவல்.

Scintillating narration. Gandhari and Gandhara kingdom stand tall at the end.

Why are some authors gifted with writing?
Why not others?
I should ask this question to the Jeyamohan (author) for the secret of his writing.
I know, it is not his knowledge but his life experience which keep flowing in his writing. I can visualize the entire happening in the novel as if I am a shadow travelling along with each word. Each sentence though he would have written in flow. For me it looks like every sentence he crafted unconsciously and the period went through him as if he time travelled and visualised every second of the happening.
The narration of Bhisma and his effort to arrange marriage for Dhritarashtra and Gandhari was more of a pictorial language. Every incident was stitching in my heart and learning more about the politics behind such marriage. Description of Gandhari and her way of understanding Dhritarashtran after he broke the door to abduct her was simply awesome.
The whole episode of drama before marriage is stunning and I loved it because it's more like I'm travelling in the Jeymohan shadow while he is writing.
The dialogue like
Soldier population should not exceed the population of people.
War is essential to lose old soldiers in order to replace them with new blood.
Eyes are disturbed to the minute listening. (It's a new narration in the expression of Gandhari, that she is tying her eyes to understand nature)...etc etc.
A fabulous Journey with jeymohan!!
