One tiara Seven diamonds Sometimes beautiful things come at a cost…
~ It says one does not have to read the first book to understand this one but in total honesty I think you should definitely read the first book, then this one because there were some parts where I felt lost. I had to put things together little by little, like the relationship between the sisters (their story is sad....), what had happened before hand before all the events. It was a little confusing starting out.
I liked the romance between the two main characters. It was insta-love but it was in a way.....built. I don't know if I am explaining myself there but I liked it. It worked. I love how the author ended it too. The last line she wrote hooking it to their first "official" meeting. I found it cute. I found interesting the background information given about diamonds. I really did not know there was so much to know about them. My only downside was I found it a little predictable. I knew what was gonna happen before it happened. I think that is why I kept coming out from the read a couple of times. But even thou it was a good read.
I recommend you read the first book thou so you don't feel lost like I was. Then read this baby. ^_^. There's romance, betrayal, family, some action. Not a bad read.

This book was not what I expected it to be.
I expected a roundabout repetition of the first book, just this time, it was going to be Jessica’s story.
“Of all the women to run into tonight.”
But no.
This book is a proper sequel. The stories continued from the last book (Inclusions) , and all the same characters were there. Like the last book, this one is really well-written too. All over, its such a bittersweet book.
And oh, expect more of the “suspense” that was slightly missing the first book, here.
“A cut determines how light reflects back to the human eye.”
So if you want a fast-paced romantic suspense book with a generous amount of action and character development, then this is your book.
And that’s all I can give away without letting out spoilers..

Before we begin: This book is the second in the Flawless series. I received CUT in exchange for an honest review. I HAVE NOT read INCLUSIONS, the first book in the series, but this book was able to be read as a stand alone (which is really awesome), so it did not affect my ability to understand the story.
Review: I read this book in one sitting. It was easy to read and although this is not my genre of choice, I found myself unable to put it down. The book itself takes place in a relatively short period of time, covering the space of only a few days, but in those few days the action is pretty much nonstop. Jessica, an unhappy bride-to-be is enjoying herself at her stereotypical bachelorette party, becoming uncharacteristically drunk and ready for anything, when she runs into Brent Harrison and makes a mistake. As her night begins to spiral out of control, Duvall begins to suck her readers in.
I wasn’t particularly interested in the romance aspect of this story, though I think it will be a selling point for most readers. The relationship between Jessica and her husband-to-be, “doctor Carl” is awkward and strained and obviously not working out, so it comes as no surprise to readers when she accidentally stumbles on something new.
Brent is dark and mysterious. He deals in the family business of danger and diamonds and is supposed to be our protagonist’s knight in shining armor. He’s also got a sad backstory that is supposed to make him more relatable and stir up empathy in readers. To be honest, I didn’t care for Brent or Carl. They were my main issues with the story and the reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Carl was a whiny, pretentious underdeveloped asshole, and Brent was equally ostentatious and douchey. I wanted Jessica to stand on her own two feet and figure things out for herself. There was potential for her to get herself out of a soul-sucking almost-marriage and out into the world as her own woman for awhile, but she jumped back into love so quickly that it gave me a little bit of whiplash ~ as I said, romance is not usually my genre of choice.
The suspense, on the other hand, was something else entirely. Early on, Jessica is given word that her estranged sister has been beaten and is fighting for her life in the hospital ICU and Jessica is given a mystery to solve that involves stolen diamonds. This book has everything you’d expect in a suspense: romance, family drama, kidnapping, stolen diamonds. I really enjoyed the mystery and all of the twists and turns that made up this novel.
The cover is pretty, too.
All in all, I would recommend this to anyone who is an avid fan of romantic suspense. It’s definitely a page turner!
I've been reading a few contemporaries lately and to be honest, I am not quite a fan of the genre, but I do read it sometimes. I was drawn to this book because of the awesome blurb. I mean, stolen gems, a tiara, romance? Bring it on!
Unfortunately, the romance part did not live up to what I'm used to. I'm pretty used to reading romance and this didn't satisfy my romantic streak.
Here are 5 reasons why I wanted to read CUT
1. Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Correction. RARE DIAMONDS are a girl's best friend! This book involves a stolen rare set of diamonds that adorned the famous Abbott Tiara. SO YES, I WANTED to read about stolen diamonds. I'm expecting a lot of thrills here!
2. Drama. One thing I can say about Cut is that you don't lack drama. On the eve of her bachelorette party, Jessica finds out that her estranged sister was attacked and is in the ICU. Who tells her? Some random guy that she kisses (passionately) at the bar, who is unknowingly her brother in law! But get this, HE KNOWS IT'S HER and he doesn't tell her! Talk about DRAMA! There is also Jessie's estrangement with her sister and her family.
- I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Let me start off by saying that this book is the second in the Flawless series and I did not read the first book. It can be read as a standalone, however I’m so curious about some of the backstory that I added the first book to my TBR.
Jessie and Brent have undeniable chemistry within the first few pages of the book. She is pretty, fun and smart, out with her friends at her own bachelorette party when she meets Brent. He is dark, mysterious and sexy and the last thing he wants on the night the two meet is to begin a relationship, even though his attraction to Jessie is unquestionable.
Right from the start, tensions are high. Rare and extremely valuable diamonds are missing, people are getting seriously hurt, and family loyalties are questioned. Both Brent and Jessie have complicated family issues that seem to be linked to each other. Seeing each other is just a bad idea all around, especially since Jessie is engaged to another man, Carl.
I’m hesitant to say too much about this book as there are quite a few twists that I could spoil. These weren’t jaw dropping twists like that of I Let You Go, but this book isn’t a typical thriller where the reader expects shocking turns of events. Instead, it reminded me more of Abduction where the romance is more at the forefront yet the suspense is a nice background.
If you’re a fan of romance books, yet like suspenseful novels as well, check this book out. It’s a fun read but there is definitely enough action that it’s not entirely about the love story. The romance and suspense in this book compliment each other well, much as Jessie and Brent compliment each other.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this book was really good! I really enjoyed reading the story and watching the characters throughout their journey. I enjoyed the romance, especially because their was more to it than just romance. The whole diamond hunt thing was really cool to read, and it felt like I was a ghost with them throughout the book. I really recommend this book because it was really good and the writing was good as well. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so look up the summary! This is the second book in the Flawless series, with the first book being Inclusions (which I haven't read yet, but this book worked just as well as a stand alone). I can't wait to see what will happen in the third book!
**I was given a free cope of this book for an honest review, and I honestly really liked it! I do recommend it!
I really wish I'd found time to get through Cut sooner. I've read all of Emily's books and I have to say, once again, she kept me page turning (once I found time to read!). I felt that Emily captured the back story from Inclusions (Book 1 - Flawless Series) really well but I'd still suggest someone to read it in order to get the detail. Personally speaking, the story starts fast and has exciting pace. For me personally, it then slows slightly but on reflection given the nature of the story line at that point in the book it makes total sense. Then it speeds up and a whole array of unexpected twists hit you as the plot thickens. Really loved this book and brought back great memories of reading Inclusions. Already trying to guess what might happen in the next book!! Well done, Emily!! Great book!
This was a fun and fast paced mystery romance. There were a lot of twists and turns throughout, and it really kept me guessing and curious to see what would happen next. I wasn't a huge fan of the protagonist, and felt she made a lot of foolish mistakes throughout most of the book, but by the end she actually grew on me, and I found myself more satisfied with the conclusion than I had anticipated. I also really liked the male protagonist. I wasn't sure what he saw in Jessica at the beginning, but I was really impressed with how his character evolved throughout the story. Overall, an enjoyable read.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review and opinion.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good read; a romance and thriller combined.. The main character, Jessica Cahill is not the traditional romance, cookie cutter character. She's not perfect and makes one mistake after another, but through it all, she manages to overcome and finds herself in a good place. Well thought out story. I liked the gem theme. You can depend on this author for a good story.
