About the author

Akira Toriyama (鳥山明) was a Japanese manga artist and character designer. He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration.
He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended.
His next series, Dragon Ball, would become one of the most popular and successful manga in the world. Having sold 260 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time and is considered a key work in increasing manga circulation to its peak in the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Overseas, Dragon Ball's anime adaptations have been more successful than the manga and are credited with boosting anime's popularity in the Western world. In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts.
In October 2024, Toriyama was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.

Vegeta batte in ritirata, graziato dall'instancabile voglia di Goku di mettersi in gioco con persone più forti di lui, ma per riuscire a riportare in vita tutti quanti è necessario intraprendere un viaggio nello spazio, alla ricerca di nuove sfere del drago. Purtroppo, Crilin, Bulma e Gohan non sono gli unici a voler usare il potere delle sfere. Uno sconosciuto da brividi incrocerà i loro cammini… Goku riuscirà ad accorrere in tempo dai namecciani? Inizia la saga di Freezer e sono in fibrillazione come fosse la prima volta che la leggo, ahah!

I’ve slowly read the first 16 of these digitally, but during my recent trip to Japan, I finally got my hands on most of the kanzenban set at a handful of BookOff locations in Kyoto. The physical books are such a pleasure to read, and it’s a great way to practice my Japanese reading skills and enlarge my vocabulary. It’s also great fun to experience the manga on which the anime I watched as a teenager was based.

Fin de la saga Saiyan et début de la saga Namek.

Après que Gohan se soit transformé en singe géant, Végéta tente de lui couper la queue. Il y arrive mais complètement exténué, il s'enfuit. Goku a demandé à Krilin de le laisser partir, alors que celui-ci était proche de l'achever, afin qu'il puisse le réaffronter à l'avenir.

Tout le monde finit à l'hôpital et ils comprennent qu'afin de ramener à la vie leurs amis disparus, il va falloir se rendre sur la planète Namek, lieu de naissance de Kami-sama et de Piccolo, et trouver les Dragon ball originelles. Mister Popo leur permet d'utiliser le vaisseau avec lequel Kami-sama est arrivé sur Terre plusieurs décennies auparavant. Bulma, Krilin et Gohan partent pour Namek, Goku étant toujours blessé et attendant que les senzus repoussent.

Dans le même temps, Végéta revient sur la planète Freezer, y est soigné et comprend que Freezer a entendu les conversations qu'il a eues sur Terre et qu'il s'est rendu sur Namek afin d'y récupérer les Dragon Ball afin de demander l'immortalité, ce qui est également son propre objectif. Il s'y rend donc.

Arrivant sur la planète Namek, Krilin et Gohan ressentent des auras maléfiques, Freezer, ses sbires et Végéta. Leur vaisseau est détruit par des adversaires finalement assez faibles. Mais Freezer tue les Nameks afin de leur voler les Dragon Ball. Ils laissent Bulma dans une cachette et vont voir ce qu'il se passe. Ils assistent à une confrontation entre Freezer, Dodoria, Zabon et des Nameks qui sont contraints de leur remettre leur DB. Freezer en a maintenant cinq en sa possession.

Goku, rétabli après avoir avalé un senzu, part pour Namek avec un vaisseau construit par le père de Bulma avec des pièces du vaisseau avec lequel Goku était arrivé bébé. Il a six jours de voyage pendant lesquels il s'entrainera avec un appareil de gravité artificielle.

La battaglia è per il momento sospesa, ma la minaccia futura è troppo grande per non mettersi già in moto. Abbiamo modo di conoscere il capo di Vegeta e di capire le dinamiche che si nascondono dietro ai loro intenti.

Un tome d'installation du nouvel arc à venir avec de nouveaux protagonistes et de nouveaux enjeux que j'ai beaucoup apprécié !
Cette fois on s'éloigne de la planète terre pour visiter la contrée native de Piccolo et c'est avec plaisir qu'on découvre Freezer, un ennemi mythique dans Dragon Ball !

Y Namek es muy interesante. Me gusta que salgan otros planetas y compararlos.
