Closet Confession is a stand alone novella by Kindle Alexander. This also has several little bonus chapters added at the end which added so much more to this story.
Dr. Derek Babineaux is thirty five years old and is openly gay. He is a very talented emergency room doctor at Tulane Medical Emergency Room in New Orleans.
Justin Delacroix loved his life in the military but always kept his sexuality a secret. Now that he’s out and once again a civilian, it will take him some time to readjust to a new way of life. Including his job as a nurse in the emergency room at Tulane Medical.
The main part of this story is pretty short. It was genius how the entire story took place during one night shift at the ER. But then, the bonus material filled in all the blank spots and added so much. This is sexy and sweet and I loved the connection between these two characters.

I wish the authors had expanded the short story into a novella or novel instead of just tacking on a few bonus chapters.
This story has potential: ex-military man, ER doctor, hot lovin' in a hospital closet. YES, oh, yes.
I was initially totes confused (see my status updates), but I got with the program.
I think what threw me is that
The bonus chapters show the beginning (first meeting, moving in together) and HEA (coming out public, meeting Aunt Vera, going ) of the relationship.
I liked the MCs, and I loved Aunt Vera, but the disjointed, disconnected telling of the story bothered me.
Likewise, the grandness of keeping the relationship under wraps didn't feel believable.
Fortunately, the last chapter was the ultimate in fluff and sprinkles.
That and the hot clandestine sex scene are what made this a 3 star read for me (probably closer to 2.5, rounded up).

This short is seriously sweet and sexy. I won't go into plot details since that would ruin the fun, but the first part of the story, which was originally part of the “Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in the Dark” anthology, takes place during a night shit at the ER of Tulane Medical in New Orleans. Dr. Derek Babineaux aka Dr. Baby is right there with the other nurses ogling new employee Justin Delacroix. Justin is a nurse, recently out of the military and trying to adjust to civilian life. Both Derek and Justin have secrets and insecurities, but one super steamy encounter in a supply closet could change both of their lives.
Both characters’ points of view are included which really adds to the story. Justin is clearly struggling with more than just his new life, while Derek seems to have everything together. I had my suspicions about Justin and was pleasantly surprised when all was revealed. Both the vulnerable Justin and the take charge Derek are good characters and when Derek finally decides to take a chance he doesn’t do anything by half measures!
If you previously enjoyed the original you're going to want to read the new version since there are a few added chapters that continue the story, as well as showing past important moments from the men's lives. If you haven’t read it yet and you like a coming out story with steamy sex scenes that lead to men having emotional epiphanies I’d recommend it. The story is short and left me very happy. I came to really like both characters and could have easily read more.

A short story that is nothing like it seems at the beginning. I liked the surprising turn that happened about halfway. If it wasn't for it I don't think would have like this or even finished it. It changed the whole story and transformed the theme. At the end of the story there are some chapters with scenes that date before and after the main story. It was fun to read them, but I didn't like them as much. I'll admit that it was nice to get to know the characters more through those scenes though.
The last part of the story felt a bit rushed and everything was neatly put into place in a way that felt too fast to be believable. I liked the first half of the story a lot more than the second, especially once I read about the thing that changed the whole story. My view of the story shifted and I had to adjust my perspective accordingly.
It's a pleasant short read that helps pass the time, but nothing more than that.

This was originally part of the anthology Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in the Dark and color me suprised that Ms Alexander wrote two bonus scenes….
“I’m starting to think you have a crush on me, Dr. Baby.”
“Then quit dodging me and let’s play doctor.”
And they were sweet and delicious.. My first read I longed to read more of the couple and now I got to read how they met and even what happened in their future.
“Oh, and babe, the best part… clothing’s optional.
If I remember correctly someone once told me I’d look good wearing nothing but sand”

I was confused. Then I was charmed. But didn't really see the reason for the subterfuge either in the story or in their lives. Then they just up and fix it all through text messaging?
Um. Huh.
And can someone explain how you can manage to keep an exclusive, loving, all-consuming relationship a secret for years from everyone, including both your families and all your friends?
Nuh uh. Not buying it.

Oh HELLS yes! I've yet to read a Kindle Alexander book I haven't loved, and despite the faster pace set by the lower word count, Closet Confession is no exception. Hot and sweet, a little twisty and a lot of awesome.
Life in the ER is fast-paced and that's how Dr. Derek Babineaux likes it. He also likes the newest member of staff at Tulane Medical Centre...sexy nurse, Justin Delacroix. Dr. Baby wants to act on his desire for the former military man, but there's something holding Justin back. It's not that Justin doesn't return the attraction, but that he doesn't mix business with pleasure...does he?
I was lucky enough to originally read this one as part of the Night Shift anthology and here's what I said then (NB: a shortened version appeared in the Give Me Books review of said anthology):
I loved this hot little read! Justin and Derek (Dr. Baby, BTW, is an awesome nickname) were SCORCHING hot together. I loved their flirty moments, I loved the intrigue; I loved this story. It didn't go the way I originally envisioned, and I am glad of it. There were fun, surprising moments in Closet Confession and it felt like a complete, well-rounded story, despite the length. Their brief-but-OMG-I-need-a-cold-shower coupling was spot-on; I wouldn't change a thing about it but I also wouldn't say no to MORE from this sexy couple. I wonder...could we make that happen, Kindle?
And now, Closet Confession HAS given me extra from Justin and Derek—and I LOVED IT EVEN MORE. So, thank you, Kindle Alexander!
The story was still just as fun and flirty and sizzling, and I was still just as entranced by the way these authors worked their story in a way that made it surprising even on a second read. The additional scenes simply gave added depth to a couple that I already had a thing for. #Winning, to throwback a few years and steal Charlie Sheen's word. My usual complaint when it comes to short stories and novellas is that they don't give me enough depth to get invested. Or JUST when I'm getting invested, the story ends abruptly. That is not the case with this here. I LOVED Justin and Derek!
Their stories were little gifts that kept me glued to my kindle. First, we're given an artfully crafted, sinfully sexy story with a small but satisfying twist—and it wraps up beautifully. However, luckily for us, in this version, the story doesn't end there. We're also given snapshots into other stages in the story of Justin and Derek, and while the book can still easily be read in one sitting, I felt like I walked away invested, after a full and satisfying love story.
These two are completely combustible together, steamy, dirty, and hot. They are also incredibly sweet, tender, and madly in love. These stories have a little bit of everything, some tenderness, some angst, some humor, some panty-soaking sexiness, and two strong, smart, sexy men. Does it get any better than that? ~ Shelly, 4.5 stars

Stop. Go read it. NOW! It's short, and quick, and completely wonderful in every way. Derek, or "Dr. Baby" was such a sexy hunk of a man. The way his admiration of Justin begins leaves you with so many questions, but it's so HOT you don't even care about the answers.
What a combustible couple! Their chemistry is absolutely off the charts, and the fireworks between them will melt your panties right off and leave you weak kneed and wanting more. Don't worry, there's more! The romance was there too, and I melted at the good Dr's old-fashioned commitment desires and romantic nature. The bonus chapters answered all the important questions, along with giving even more of that steamy couple that you crave.
A perfect one sitting read, which is both good and bad. Good, because you won't be able to put it down. Bad, because you'll be so disappointed when it ends. Just don't let the length fool you, this book packs a powerful punch! ~ George, 5 stars

Woo hoo! I read Closet Confession when it first came out in the Night Shift Anthology and loved every minute of it!
It was sweet and intriguing, turned passionate and HOT!!

My problem with most novellas is that they are but a snippet of a story.
There isn't usually enough grit and in depth information on the characters.
Although I really enjoyed the quick jaunt in the closet the first time around, the added scenes to this book helped round out the story for me.
I relished the extra bits of their lives!

You understood why Justin acted the way he did.
Why he kept his feelings "in the closet".
Kindle Alexander knows how to give the reader what they want, that's for sure.

How did I not see that twist coming? But because I didn't see it, I LOVED it! Wow, this was a GREAT novella. I loved everything about this story. Justin's history and his difficulties with his partner, the hospital setting, Dr. Babineaux's aunt, the great, flirty nurses. It was all done so well and so perfectly woven to create a great, romantic, sweet (and HAWT) story! Love, love, love. And that ending was simply perfection. If I had one complaint, it's that I wanted more...not because the story lacked anything (because it totally didn't), but just that I did really like these two characters. Maybe we'll get to see more of them in the upcoming SECRET. I can't wait!

I adored the two MCs especially Derek. This is a short quick read that made me want more. More of these two characters. For such a short read though I could feel their love. There were added scenes at the end of the book that gave us more insight. I wish the author would take those scenes and add them into the book and maybe write more. These two along with their story could make a great full length read.

Closet Confessions opens with a dedication that brought tears to my eyes; you see this book is dedicated to my younger brother Keith; yes Ms Alexander decided this book to my deceased brother and I, a man she never meet.
Now that is just wow and truly optimizing my promise that Keith would not go quietly. Ms Alexander there are no words, you touch my soul.
Closet Confessions, I loved this story!
Ms Alexander’s plot twist took me from to wanting to grab Dr. Derek Babineaux and throttle him to wanting to hug him. And nurse Justin Delacroix, this poor man who can’t seem to get out of his own way.
This is a longer version of a story that first appears in an anthology for charity. This version provides great insight into this couple before we meet them in the original short and after… I loved seeing them happy after, a happy that truly spoke to what these men deserved out of life!
Ms Alexander’s story is wonderful heartfelt tale of #loveislove

I don't know what's up with this book. But I hope I'm right by assuming that the first part was written a long time ago. Because it was crap.
It has this quite cheesy Grey's Anatomy feel to it. It just made me concerned what ER doctors do during their shifts. Lol! On top of that, the plot twist was so sudden I got disoriented. Badly.
Thank God the added chapters were awesome. It's how I know Kindle writes. The last two was heavenly. I want that kind of a surprise too! I won't have hang ups on my future husband's wealth. I promise! Lol!
It's a mixed bag overall. Probably my least favorite from Kindle Alexander yet. :(

After the encounter in the closet, you think he's cheating, but hang on, because that is not true. Wow, whatever you do don't stop after the first short story. Keep reading and go back in time to when they met, etc. Those added three tales are engrossing and totally fit with this wonderful couple. Deep characters, super hot M/M sex, and interesting plot make this worthwhile and amazing.
I loved these guys right away, and after reading the added sections of their story, I was hooked. Gosh!! I loved it !! Awesome quick read full of loving feelings. Highly recommend !! ENJOY !!!

Closet Confessions was one story in the anthology 'Night Shift.' THIS STORY is the reason I bought the anthology. Don't get me wrong, the other stories were awesome... but Kindle Alexander is one of my go-to authors, and one that I almost always one-click without a second thought.
We meet Dr. Derek Babineaux ("Dr. Baby" as some of the nurses call him), and Justin Delacroix, both of whom work at Tulane Hospital. The whole time, there's this secret sexual tension between the two - they're attracted to each other, but don't want to act on it at work. Throughout the short story, we learn that Justin was in the military. It was hard for him being away from his boyfriend for long periods of time, and they constantly struggled to make it work. He finally gets out of the military and takes a fast-paced job at Tulane and has to school his emotions in front of Derek.
Derek has been in a relationship before, but was hurt by the fact that his boyfriend didn't want to really announce their relationship and flaunt it to the world. All Derek wants is to not hide in public, and act like a real couple in front of others - hold hands, quick kisses, all that jazz.
I cannot tell you how happy I was to find out that Derek and Justin have actually been together for years. I literally squealed in delight. I wanted so bad for Justin to have someone to stand next to him, and for Derek to have someone that isn't scared to be who he is.
It's a very sweet, very HOT, very GOOD short story. I love it so much, that I'm praying that these two characters are screaming in Kindle's mind to have a full length story. I'd love to read their history before they get to Tulane, and what happens after.
As always, Kindle does an AMAZING job, and I was NOT disappointed.
Closet Confessions was one story in the anthology 'Night Shift.' THIS STORY is the reason I bought the anthology. Don't get me wrong, the other stories were awesome... but Kindle Alexander is one of my go-to authors, and one that I almost always one-click without a second thought.

This was a sweet novella (previously released in an anthology). I appreciated the author included the little tidbits at the end but all it did was make me want more!! I think it could have truly been a wonderful full-length novel. All of the elements were there. I believed Justin and Derek really loved each other but would have liked to see all that had transpired in their 5 years together. There was so much there that could have been expanded on. Overall though, it was a really sweet, HOT read.

This is a huge happiness for me I can visit Dr.Baby again and his shy, quite, sexy partner Justin.
A second read for me after fanning myself in a Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in the Dark...and still made me squirm on my seat. Just because...
Nothing much happened, but the closet 'encounter' is still there the best part of the book actually.
I loved how Derek can make Justin comfortable and accepted, loved the love they've shared.
Aunt Vera is really something else and I loved her!
I can even imagine I'll be aunt Vera in the future... *cough*
Recommended for a sweet, establish couple, no angst and a short read seeker.
You won't be disappointed!

I originally read Derek and Justin's story as part of the Night Shift anthology. I really love the 'twist' Kindle Alexander gave the reader in the novella. As I re-read the story, enough time lapse I had forgotten it. So again delighted by the unfolding of their story.
I loved how you felt the connection between Derek and Justin. Obviously by their words and actions, there isn't a single sacrifice that one won't do for the other. In this version, Ms. Alexander gives you more of their HEA: How they met, how they meshed, and how we get to say "Awe"*swoon* at the lengths they love each other. However, my favorite character, Aunt Vera, hands down. When she pops up, you just know witty dialogue is to follow. Although I loved the story, I kept wishing for more, but don't we all when we love the characters? I would have liked to hear more about their struggles especially around deployment. However, you never know may get that future wish.
If you love stories with guaranteed sweet HEA, Kindle Alexander will not disappoint. She writes with feeling that wraps you like a warm hug.

Closet Confession by Kindle Alexander is an expanded re-release (previously released in the Night Shift Anthology) and the additions are great. The Added Bonus Scenes double the length of the novella. Derek is an ER Doctor and Justin is a lab tech at Tulane Medical Center. Justin has just left the military; He has always been quite, introspective and now he is insecure. Derek is secure, self confident and has an Aunt that adores him. Kindle Alexander takes us through many aspect of each of their lives; Kindle explores how they each come to fit their lives together. It is another Kindle Alexander Story that you will fall for, I did. I was given an ARC of this and here is my honest review. If you like Kindle Alexander stories, you are going to love this one. If you have not read a Kindle Alexander story, Closet Confession would be a great start.

Lovely short story.... but way too short for my liking. Derek and Justin would have been worth a full novel, too bad they didn't get it.

Dnfed at 44%. I didn’t felt that, maybe I was just not in the mood but It was like a bad Greys anatomy episode.
