She's terrified of me. She should be. I'm no saint, but apparently even killers have limits. When the Bratva hired me as security for the night, I didn't know it was a flesh trade. I could have kept my cool, done my job, but then I saw her. Pure as a lily, dressed in skimpy lingerie, and being auctioned off to the foulest men in Brighton Beach.
I'm not used to this white knight sh*t, but I did what I had to do. I outbid those pieces of trash and bought myself a bride.
What the hell do I do with a sweet, subservient woman who's been trained to obey her husband? I can think of some things my baser instincts want me to do... But when she submits to me, I'm going to be the man that deserves it, not just the one she owes it to. So I'm going to make her life better. I'm going to make her want me just as bad as I want her.
And at night, when my new princess is slumbering, I'm going to make every one of those pimps pay in blood. I will protect her... and our unborn baby.

Wow, I really enjoyed this! I would write more but I'm already jumping into my next read. If you haven't noticed, I am on short book-binge of epic proportions today.
I honestly felt like I was in a Jason Statham movie. You have a hot hit man with a soul and an innocent girl in his path. This was an unexpected story unlike any other and the hot sex scenes where not all it was about (very glad about that). It was a story about two pawns being played and them finding a way to finish the game by being together and staying strong. I love how he shows her how to handle a gun and how he tired to respect her always. She is the one pushing at the end and he is just trying to protect her and their baby. I just loved this story and the strong characters. What an incredible trill ride!
Andrei maybe a hitman for the Bratva but he's not the cold unfeeling guy we so often get, he's known as the Shadow, he's an intelligent killer who's experienced so much since his early life in a Siberian orphanage. Cassandra on the other hand has experienced so little, she's been raised in a strict religious house with a father who believes woman are born to serve men, she's been homeschooled and hardly ever leaves the house. Her life is laid out before her, a husband will be chosen for her and she'll then serve and please him but then on her eighteenth birthday her whole world comes crumbling down around her and her small dull world suddenly opens up. I enjoyed this book, I didn't buy the reason Cassie finds herself in the situation she's in and I didn't like that it doesn't resolve itself like I wanted but honestly it didn't matter (to me anyway) I liked Andrei and I loved the way he is with Cassie and talking of Cassie I can't even imagine what it must have been like for her. So while this wasn't a perfect read it's an enjoyable romance with nice characters.
Meh. Interesting premise, but I guess a (otherwise pretty graphic) contemporary romance featuring a heroine who refers to her vagina as her "flower" and "private parts" and a hero who calls his penis a "spear" or "scepter", along with an author who can't seem to decide whether to tell her story in present tense or past tense, just don't do it for me. The pacing was confusing, the characters were likeable but bland, and the climax wasn't climactic at all. Disappointed.
Like: the sadistic me enjoyed the unapologetically explicit execution scenes a lot.
Sweet and fairly low angst hit man/mafia story. 18 year old Cassie is sold off in a slave auction as payment of a debt by her "godly" father. Andrei, there as security, is immediately drawn to her and out bids the horrible men there.
Andrei was so sweet and good to Cassie. Quite the contrast considering his job. Definitely insta-lust/love. Cassie was a bit naive but this was a result of her horrible upbringing...women are to be subservient to men. Not good for much except to serve the men and have babies. It smelled a lot like a religious cult to me. But she was strong and it didn't take her long to shed those beliefs and accept her new, happier life.
Things were wrapped up pretty well. Though, I would have liked to see more consequences for Cassie's parents. You can't just sell your daughter off and not expect it to come bite you in the ass. I wanted her father to be brought down a notch or two.
Props to the author who warns us the story ends around 50% and includes a bonus story. I haven't read the bonus story yet but I appreciate the heads up. Nothing pisses me off more than to think I have lots more enjoyable reading only to find out it ends abruptly.
I felt for Cassie and how she grew up but I didn't unstand why she was sold. I also never got the pull that Andrei felt for her. Andrei's the hitman for the Bratva but I couldn't understand where his conscience came from and why he felt it was necessary to start killing his people??? I'm not sure how Cassie was in danger because the men he was whacking didn't have anything to do with her. But whateves. Cassie also seemed more as a background than a main character.
The epilogue left me confused. Is Andrei out is he in? What happen to the Bratva with the main guys gone? Like how is Andrei still breathing?
I was graciously gifted an ARC of this book and whoa, it was just what I expected!!!! The writing was great, the storyline was exciting, mysterious, full of action and the relationship between Andrei and Cassie was just simply beautiful in every single way possible. It was a light, easy read and a great little sexy love story and if you are looking for a book without all the intense emotions and angst, then this is it! Was is insta-love, sort of, was it insta-lust sort of, lol, but it was done in the most beautiful of ways. I loved that the author didn't go the "cheesy" route and kept it sweet and simple!
The premise of the story was what drew me in and Author Alexis Abbott certainly knew how to orchestrate this story from start until finish in the most brilliant way.
Why not 5 stars, well, as much as I loved it and I did, I wanted a little more drama and and angst to add to it's already great flow. For me, it would have taken it up a whole other level and for me, that's the only thing I was missing!
Author Alexis Abbott, I am addicted to these fast-paced, sexy love stories of yours and look forward to more in the future!
This was ok. I liked both hero and heroine but I needed more. I definitely wanted to see her parents pay(especially her dad)! Some killing(hero is a hitman so of course). Cute epilogue!
safety gang safe heroine is a virgin hero wasn't. nothing much about his past except that he had women. he didn't come off as a manhoe. nothing else mentioned.
Sold to the Hitman didn't work for me. It was boring and I barely finished it. Cassie and Andrei were ok but the whole situation with the parents is what really bothered me. There should have been some punishment for what they did to Cassie, but there was nothing except that they moved to a new town.
I liked this book more than the first one. Cassie really got screwed over by being sold at an auction. She was lucky that Andrei is the one who got her and he was just trying to save her. Andrei treated her really well, he never pushed her and tried to help her grow into herself and become an independent woman. Their relationship was sweet, but had some good smut scenes as well. I liked the dual narration and Andrei's accent. The side plot was just enough without overwhelming their romance. I enjoyed the ending and this was a good read.
Andrei was so kind, but I just didn't connect with him and Cassie and their romance. The ending felt very rushed, and since that's where the most interesting action happened, it was a bit disappointing. The redeeming factor was the sex scenes. They were hot, especially when Andrei finally let go of his control.
This was a good read. There was so much going into these characters that you can't help but connect to them. Cassie is such a sweetheart and looks at the world so differently from being sheltered her entire life. Andrei exposes her to a new life and protects her from harsh realities for as long as he can. They're relationship was a pleasure to read and I loved the ending.
I enjoyed the first book in this series a little more than this one. With that being said, it was still a good read and I will definitely be reading the next one. Unlike the first one where she owes money because of her father, in this book the parents put Cassie up for sale at an auction where Andrei buys her. Not because he wants a, practically child, bride but because he feels sorry for her on that stage. Then he has to work on her trusting him and being really sweet with her. I did enjoy how their relationship evolves and how he doesnt pressure her really into anything but does what needs to be done, i.e. the wedding to ensure her parents and the others arent suspicious of anything. There bond grows as she gets to know him. Can love actually come from a forced bride auction?
Cassie was raised in a very religious (cult like) family, her father ruled the roost and kept his daughter in line making sure she stayed "pure" until her wedding night. On Cassie's eighteenth birthday her world turns much different, she finds herself dressed in a neglige being sold to the highest bidder. To say that I was taken aback by the fact that her parents sold her into the sex trade market to pay off their debts is putting it mildly. That was such a curveball I had trouble getting a grip on it. Andrei was hired as security for the Bratva the night he and Cassie find themselves at the flesh trade. Andrei was appalled with the disgusting men that were there looking to purchase a young virgin that the can defile and throw away like used trash, when he caught sight of Cassie, he knew that he had to prevent her from being sold to someone that will use and abuse her so he purchases her for himself. Neither Cassie nor Andrei knew what would happen next all they knew is that they had to somehow figure out what was happening and who was going to pay. This story was one that had me biting my nails with anticipation on what would happen next. I was happy with the way things turned out in the end, and I enjoyed watching Andrei and Cassie feelings for one another grow to where they would do absolutely anything for the other.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Andrei meets Cassie in a less than ideal situation. Cassie is scared and alone and Andrei realizes that she needs protecting. Who better to protect her than him? Cassie is a good girl from a God fearing family. She has been home schooled and taught to serve God and her husband, when the time comes to marry. But things aren't always what they seem. Andrei works for the Bratva as a hitman. He is exceptional at what he does and is feared by many. Yes they make an unlikely pair, but opposites attract, right? Can a pure, angelic girl find happiness with a deadly murderer for hire? I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK ! LOTS OF CRAZY, HOT, RIP THE SHEETS SEX ! ! THESE CHARACTERS WERE AWESOME ! Cassie overcame so much. She was able to open up her mind as well as her heart; so strong and brave. Andrei was able to become the man he was meant to be...a good man.
This is the second book of Alexis Abbott that I have read, both mafia hit men, and I am impresssed with her Hero's in her books. I don't particularly read this type of book becuase I have huge issues with the H abusing their woman and you find that alot in this type of book. You won't find that in this book. Alexis does a great job of writing the Hero as the cold killers that they are, but her H's only go after the dregs of society, never the innocent people. In fact, her leading men do their best to protect the innocent even if it can get them in trouble themselves. That makes her books more appealing to me as a reader. I'm also a sucker for the men who don't think they can love but find that one woman who change them. I like seeing that transformation in these types of books. Great book and great read!

I gave five stars because this book was so good. It kept my attention completely from beginning to end and everywhere in between. Andreis and Cassie both end up with life's they never imagined and both change so much from the beginning compared with the end of the book. Like they say we can pick our noses, pick our butts, and pick our friends, but we can't pick our families, and sometimes that's a dam shame (you'll know why I say this if you read the book). This book was well written, and with characters I loved Andrei's was my favorite, he makes me swoon lol. It was descriptive without going overboard (some Authors will describe so much it makes me crazy). Throughout the book there was always something going on, no boring parts. I would really recommend this book.
I found this on Val ⚓️ Shameless, Bitchy & Skanky ⚓️ Mrs. ClayDanvers/RemingtonTate's "marriage of convenience" list, lol!
There were moments that were hard to read where I wished fervently for Cara Lindstrom to bust in and start slitting throats; this book needed a little more Santa Muerte. Yes, this Hitman tale was oddly light on the violence but there was sexy sex and an HEA. Solid three stars.

It was an easy enjoyable read. Great sex scenes but..
Although Cassie was a good girl from a God fearing family, and she had been taught to serve God and her husband, I really did not understand why was she sold. What really happened and her honest, old fashioned family decided to act so brutal.
Andrei who byes her, works for the Bratva as a hitman. But he really cares for Cassie and he is an honorable, good man. Cassie on the other hand is not only immature but also slow.
It was simply beautiful. The story, the characters, the plot were all very well done. I loved Cassie. I know that in today's world, a woman like Cassie is very very rare but I loved the way that she adapted to Andrei's world and how the latter helped her to find herself. Their relationship, though difficult and unorthodox, was beautiful. I loved the way that it unraveled and how they seemed to find themselves in each other. It was a romantic book. Like really romantic. But nothing over the top that would make it smut- just lovely romantic.
Now I did like this one. The only real issue I had with this story was how the heroine never got the chance to tell her father what she felt and thought about his sorry tail. I really wanted the heroines father to die or be punished somehow in this story. He should have suffered in some kind of way since he was a complete hypocritical low-life.
This story was good to me, I liked both the heroine and the Hero. The Hero was hot, and had good common sense. He was a bad boy but he was good to his woman. Sad the way she was sold by her dad, but that's my kind of story.
This is my first book to read by Alexis Abbott. It's pretty spectacular. Reading about the mafia is scary sh*t. Human trafficking even more unberable to read. But to read how good of a man Andrei is makes the story so pleasant. The mystery is good, suspenseful is awesome. You can read this in one sitting, it's that captivating. Cassie has had a sucky eighteen years of life. Can't believe what her parents do to her. This book is sad, but happy too.
3.5 stars. I liked this book ok. In the beginning I thought it was going to be great. I also liked the ending a lot. It was the middle that was lacking. I liked the MCs but I wasn't connected to them like I sometimes am when I read a book. Totally safe though which I appreciate in a book.
