Hill 60: Ypres

Rate this book
The shell-ravaged landscape of Hill 60, some three miles to the south east of Ypres, conceals beneath it a labyrinth of tunnels and underground workings. This small area saw horrendous fighting in the early years of the war as the British and Germans struggled to control its dominant view over Ypres.

good read

Good reading before making a visit to the battlefields. It is still hard to imagine what it must have been like during the war!

A devastating book - that so many lives could be lost for such a small piece of ground. The writer gives the history and also quotes from eyewitness accounts, both English and German. A short book, but very thorough and informative.
