Two women with hidden motives reunite in a clash of privilege and desperation for the love of one powerful man. Are they on the same team or is it every man for himself?
When Angelina Fuentes suspects her husband might be attracted to his cleaning lady, Kristi, she makes the ultimate sacrifice and allows Kristi to move from an income-based apartment in the hood to the Fuentes’ million-dollar home in the Garden District. Angelina is determined to have the happy marriage she deserves, even if it means sharing the man she loves.
Matteo has everything a man could want or need—a thriving business, amazing wealth, and a sexy trophy wife. Angelina’s decision to invite Kristi into their bedroom is just the cherry on top of his already perfect life, but things begin to fall apart when Matteo discovers someone is stealing from him. He’s sure those in his inner circle have nothing to do with his losses, but is he blinded by love and lust?
Kristi DuPont is used to scraping to get by and raising her nine-year-old autistic son alone, but she trades her independence for a taste of life on Easy Street when she moves in with the flashy couple. She realizes she shouldn’t get used to having Angelina’s affection and Matteo’s money. Kristi has a secret. She’s not there for love or sacrifice. She’s there for revenge.
This book took me on adventure! Sexy, Raw & Seasoned to pure southern perfection for a taste so succulent I keep coming back for more! Definitely a must have if you already haven't.
The premise of this book is sensationally unique. It was an outstanding blend of suspense and sexual heat.
Holy Hades HOT! This is my first F/F/M novel. The steamy scenes are blooding boiling hot.
The crime part was fairly well constructed. I liked that there were a number of side characters that made the story more complicated. However, too many clues foreshadowed the end. I would have liked more surprise.
The book also had a number of other elements that I respected:
It seems like in any LGBT book, some homophobic element is always included. (perhaps one day it will be a non issue) I liked that it was restricted to the perspective of an older generation. This is a multi-racial book that doesn’t follow all the traditional stereotypes.
Warner is brilliant. Deserving is full of twists and turns that will have you saying, “Say What!” or “I didn’t see that coming!” Just when you think you have it all figured out…you don’t.
Matteo Fuentes is a married man that has a “roaming spirit” and a “wandering eye.” He is a man that will do whatever he has to do in order to obtain who and what he wants. Let’s just say that Matteo is well connected in all worlds.
Angelina Fuentes is a married woman whose husband (Matteo) constantly cheats on her, yet she remains loyal until Kristi enters the picture. Kristi is a childhood friend of Angelina’s who initially arrives in the city where Angelina and Matteo live in order to break their marriage apart. Kristi also is the mother of a young boy that was conceived as a result of molestation/rape. However, Kristi later changes her mind. Kristi finds herself, literally, in bed with both Matteo and Angelina. Matteo later suspects that he is losing both Kristi and Angelina. Matteo being Matteo and a man who always gets what he wants or else…formulates a plan to get even, but Matteo is defeated by the person you would least expect.
This is a book you will not want to put down. Make sure you can spend an entire day reading it from cover to cover.
4.5 stars. oh my wow.. if this genre is your cup of tea, then you MUST read this book! even if it's not your usual read, you will find yourself turning those pages. sondi is a fantastic writer. she has experience, and it shows. the story and the characters are wonderfully developed (and yes, i wanted to scrub matteo's face on the asphalt until he was out of face.. lol), and the sex? HOT. no other word for it. ok, yeah there is. tastefully written. i'm pleased with the overall book, and i'm pleased with the ending. and i'm very glad sondi took the plunge into writing her own stories. she, and deserving, are gems.
