Karl Pilkington is a Sony Award-winning English radio producer, poet, podcaster, raconteur and author, best known for producing and co-presenting The Ricky Gervais Show on London radio station Xfm from 2001 to 2005 and later in the form of podcasts and a television show on HBO. In October 2006, Pilkington's first book The World of Karl Pilkington was published, featuring original ideas and drawings by Pilkington, based upon the subject matter discussed in the podcasts. His second book, Happyslapped by a Jellyfish, was published in October 2007, and he was the subject of the Comedy Lab episode "Karl Pilkington - Satisfied Fool", which aired in October 2007. His third book, Karlology, a musing on his views on his own intelligence, and attitude to learning, appeared on 1 October 2008.

In the past I have read one of Karl's other books, An Idiot Abroad, and I have watched his television series for both that and The Moaning of Life. This is the second series of The Moaning of Life in book form though I don't feel that you have to have seen the programme to appreciate the book; the book also adds more information for those that have seen the series.

Karl Pilkington is often perceived as a bit of an idiot in these television programmes but I feel that his dry and sarcastic sense of humour is very British and hilarious throughout this book. His opinions and ideas may be odd but in many ways they are just logical, though out of the box.

I really enjoy the way that Pilkington writes and the way that the book is laid out, with photographs and graphic design elements that illustrate some of the events taking place. It is almost like a diary or scrapbook of his experiences and it makes the reading experience a lot more personal.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, though having previously seen the television series there was very little that I didn't already know about. On the whole I would definitely recommend this book and will be seeking out more of Karl Pilkington's writings.

Another great comical read from Mr.Dilkington, documenting his journeys into the meaning of life.

Really easy read which you can dip in and out of easily and if you are a Karl fan definitely give it a read, he has a great way of getting his sense of humour across in his writing.

Full of some great quotes and genuinely genius ideas.

I hope there is more travels to come in the future 🙏.

This is a load of rubbish. It literally is someone moaning as they do very obscure things. I persisted thinking it would have funny parts. Yet honestly 1 section made me smile. Not something I would read again or recommend.

A great sequel to the hilarious The Moaning of Life: The Worldly Wisdom of Karl Pilkington.

Amidst the jumble of strange conversations he has in his head, Karl (again) surprises with a handful of gems, one of which is worth noting: "[...] no matter how old you are, you have to keep going and not use age as an excuse to not to do things. At the end of the day, life is one big race with some hurdles along the way and death as the finish line for all of us. You may as well have a bit of fun before going over it."

Another tie in with the TV show, like the first 'Moaning of Life' book, this does provide more of Karl's private thoughts about the people that he's met while making the program. Like Karl's other books, he's funniest when he's not trying to be funny and it's always enjoyable to see the world from the point of view of someone who sees things a little differently.

Karl does meet some genuinely interesting people in this book and it's an enjoyable read. It's no great piece of literature - but it's not trying to be. It's fun, easy to read and not too serious. Perfect for the summer holidays.

I love Karl Pilkington, and while this wasn’t one of his bests, he is such a fun person to read. It took me long to finish this one because I would pick it up, read a chapter and put it down—sort of like a palette cleanser between more serious books. This is great when your brain needs a rest, or you just need some silly humor. There are also little doodles in the book and pictures from the show, which I found charming and silly.

Another classic Karl Pilkington story

I’m a huge fan of Karl’s humorous one liners and this book certainly isn’t short of those. He tells his stories in his own way. Even after watching the episodes on tv the book gives you more of an insight into the reasoning behind why Karl feels a certain way towards things and I can relate to all of it. More people need to come around to his way of thinking.

I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first one but it was still a very good book. Again I found myself laughing, cringing and contemplating through the book. I also thought that the topics that were covered in this book were mostly good and provoked some amazing thoughts and stories from Karl. I would certainly recommend this book especially if you are a fan of Karl as it is just like watching him on the TV or listening to one of his old podcasts.

It was a very well constructed and hilarious book, Even though it was 350+ pages it felt pretty short as the pages went by so quickly and it was funny as well. it really captured Karls essence that he shows on the TV show. I would recommend this book to any one who liked his tv series as it is basically the exact same just in writing.

Essentially a continuation of the first book which I also enjoyed. I have watched the tv series in the past and figure it has a lot of the same content, however I can't remember now anyway so that didn't affect the read. Again, I love Karl's sense of humour and think he's a decent bloke so a good read for me.

It was, as I've found most of Karls books, very funny. There were some rather gross moments, toilet humour is covered bits but it is also very amusing and its a good escapist read. I recommend it, particularly if you've watch the TV show its based on - Karl is a legend!.

The purpose of reading this book was to make me laugh as I love Karl Pilkington, but I found myself genuinely fascinated with the facts and details of his travels and found I actually learned a fair bit. Very insightful and engaging, with plenty of extra things that aren't included in the TV show.
