Sparks fly when a rigid FBI agent and a patrol sergeant collide on the path to catch a killer.
Special Agent Taylor Carrigan takes ‘control freak’ to the extreme. Her need for structured rigidity rules her life—and her job at the FBI. She doesn’t do emotion, so when her fiancé is murdered, she doesn’t know how to deal with the internal fallout.
Antioch Police Sergeant Shannon Crowley has been intrigued with the uptight FBI agent for months. When he looks at Taylor, he sees more than the mask she hides behind.
She doesn’t have time for the cop who won’t quit chasing her—she’s got chasing of her own to do. Taylor admits he calms her, but he’s a distraction she can’t afford. She’s playing a dangerous game, riding the line between revenge and justice.
Keeping Shannon close could give Taylor the balance she desperately needs, but it would put something more than her case in jeopardy—her heart. With so much on the line, is she capable of handling it?

I wasn't sure about reading book 5 in a series. I wondered if the author would rest of the same story line or change things around suprising readers with something new and different.
I have to say this might be the best in the series. The story moves effortlessly from the previous novel. C.A. Szarek is able to writes action scenes where readers feel they are riding front and center as the story moves forward.
The basic story is one of self reflection from the "Control Freak" FBI Taylor. What she sees as weakness ended ups being her strength which the male lead Shannon helps her discover.
The story is simple but the author is able to create a character that is able to see though her emotional heartache to grow and develop.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher Totally Bound Publishing for a Copy of C.A. Szarek Superior Collision (Crossing Forces #5)
5th in the Crossing Forces series. FBI cop romantic suspense. This book is about an FBI agent and a cop that worked together briefly in the prior Book. Since it’s been a while since I read that one, it was a little difficult at first to keep all the names straight. Once I got past the intros it was fast paced, and thrilling. Most of the suspense was waiting to see what the bad guy would do next, but there is also the worry that she can’t handle a relationship with this awesome man who just wants to love her. I think she needed to wise up a bit faster, but then it wouldn’t have been the dramatic ending. Good job.
Superior Collision by C.A. Szarek is absolutely outstanding. Ms. Szarek has once again delivered a book that is well-written and exciting to read. Taylor is an FBI Special Agent working to catch the man that killed her partner/fiance. Shannon is with the Antioch Police Department and met Taylor when she was in his town investigating her fiance's murder. Their story is loaded with drama, action, humor and melt your e-reader heat. The cast of characters in this story is second to none. Kudos to Ms. Szarek for her skills in bringing these characters to life and for bringing us along with her for their evolution. I loved reading Superior Collision and can't wait for my next book by C.A. Szarek. Superior Collision is book 5 of the Crossing Forces Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is the best of the series! Taylor was raised in a lifeless home by a military father and no mother. Her father taught her that emotions are weak so she never ever showed any emotion. She is an FBI agent who is trying to find the guy responsible for the death of her partner/fiance when she meets Shannon who is a sergeant in his local police department.
This story flows smoothly from the previous novel, Collision Control. I loved all the action in this story but wanted to shake Taylor more than once for her cold behavior towards Shannon. Sigh. All the heartache she experienced was from how she acted. So sad.
This author in her expertise smoothed Taylor's edges and had her finally recognize her emotions for what they were and accept that they did not make her weak. I hope it won't be too long until the next book comes out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Taylor Carrigan is an FBI agent, totally centred on her job. Her fiancé also worked for the FBI, but had been killed when an undercover job went badly wrong; Taylor finds it difficult to deal with her feelings and all she wants to to is catch her fiancé's killer so that he pays for the crime. She meets Antioch Police Sergeant Shannon Crowley, who is in Dallas as a witness in a court case. He is very interested in her, and she discovers that he calms her emotions, but she doesn't want to get caught up in any romance, she only has vengeance on her mind. Their romance develops very slowly, against the backdrop of both of their jobs and the distance apart that they live making it difficult to maintain a relationship. The story of the criminals she is looking for makes an interesting counterpoint to the romance, and there are some explosive twists and turns to the plot. Although I expected that she would catch her criminal, and that the love story would have a satisfactory ending I did not envisage how either side of the story would actually end, both being quite shocking.
It was a little slow for me to get into the book since it's the fifth book in the Crossing Forces series and it's the first book I've read. There were a lot of characters to weed through - both good guys and bad and a lot of history that I wasn't privy to. Enough information was given that I could slowly catch up to what had previously happened in some of the earlier books. There was a fair amount of action and suspense since there were a lot of criminals and crime figures involved in murder and mayhem and not only against good citizens but the bad element just like them. There were quite a few twists and turns to the story and once I got into it the book was a quick paced read and flowed smoothly.
There were both FBI agents and local police forces involved in several different cases but the core story involved the hunt for Carter Bennett who killed FBI Agent Taylor Carrigan's fiance, John, that she still had trouble putting behind her and Carter led them all on a merry chase. Enter Police Sergeant Shannon Crowley and the sparks flew between them fast and furiously no matter how many times Taylor backed away. Shannon pursued her but he also did it on her terms and tried to take things slow. Their two or three steps back and a half to one forward was heart wrenching at times. There was love in the air but neither seemed to recognize it until an aha moment. She was all alpha and bad ass and Shannon seemed to be more sensitive to her feelings and also felt his emotions more deeply. There were family, friends, coworkers, crimes and criminals, travel to various cities, anger, hurt, injuries, shootings, secrets, a few surprises, tears, reprimands, laughter, happiness and several happily ever afters. There was some closure but also loose ends that I didn't feel were tied up as well as they could have been. I'm hoping there will be another book in the series but I'll have to wait and see.
Szarek is a new to me author but I will be back to read more of her books not only the ones in this series.
I'm really hoping this is a one time kind of thing, but I absolutely could not stand Taylor. In the 4th book, I mentioned how nobody in any kind of leadership position would allow a spouse, girlfriend, ex, or partner be a lead on a case involving a death. I was kind of hoping in this book we would find out maybe Taylor was going behind her supervisor's back and working the case, but that wasn't the case at all. Her supervisor knew about it and they all knew about her relationship with James. I guess I hoped Taylor would be able to redeem herself from the cold bitch she portrayed herself as in the previous book, but she never did. I can't even use the excuse that her emotionally detached father caused her to be like this, because we don't know anything about him except that he is a career Navy man. The author started something with the father calling her out of the blue, but never went anywhere with it. I wish she would've done something, like given us a scene so we could understand how her father was towards her. Now the pregnancy/abortion scenes...don't even get me started on that. As a woman, I don't agree with how Shannon's mother and Taylor viewed the option of abortion being Taylor's because it was her body. Shannon helped create that child, so I believe he should have a say in what happens to the baby as well. The fact that she went ahead with the pregnancy, but never called him to let him know just pissed me off. She sent him two texts after everything went down, but couldn't bother to send him one letting him know she planned to keep the baby?? Nope, not going there.
I had read the previous books in this series , and found that as the series progressed , each story was better than the one before. This one just blew me away. It was the best one in the series. Not because a few loose ends were resolved, but because Ms Szarek excelled in her writing. With FBI Special Agent Taylor Carrigan, and Antioch, TX Police Sergeant Shannon Crowley, the author gives us a story within a story. Yes, there was a mystery, as well as the bad guys that have followed the storylines of previous books, but that part of the plot was not what drew me to the story. It was the “heart “ of the story. The very complex character of Taylor and the sweet, strong and supportive character of Shannon were amazing. We feel the heartbreak and heartwarming periods they experience. We , as readers, experience the rollercoaster feelings , these two go through showing us that life is messy and full of twists and turns, but at the same time, that life is worth grabbing by the horns, and that love , trust, and forgiveness do in fact will get you to your HEA. Kudos to the author for a wonderful book. I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Story grabs you from the first page with drama, action, humor and suspense with a story I couldn’t put down and read at one setting. Taylor is FBI on the hunt for the person who killer her partner. She has had a hard time getting over his death and promises to bring his killer to justice. Shannon is with the police department and in Dallas as a witness in another crime. Shannon is very attacted to Taylor he has a way of calming her but she isn’t looking for romance or any kind of relationship. She is out for blood and wants vengeance for the killing of her fiancé.
I really enjoyed the slow buildup of their romance it is slow, steady and exciting. As they get to know each other and work on their jobs they can’t help fall in love. The distance between them makes it hard to have a relationship but in at the same time it makes it easy for them to fall for each other. The plot is great with some exciting twists and turns that thrilling. The story has a well blending emotional plot that holds your attention with suspense that you crave. I totally loved it.
OMG Superior Collision is an emotional rollercoaster ride in the best and worst way possible. This book will tear your heart out andput it back together. You will laugh, cry, and gasp from the exceptionally well written story by CA Szarek. Your main characters are Shannon and FBI agent Taylor. This series has evolved to be much more than I ever would have imagined. I know these characters and I care about each and every one. Sgt. Shannon Crowley is a great man...loyal, protective, passionate and perfect for Taylor after the death of her fiancee John even if she does not want a relationship with anyone. Taylor is drawn to the caring tender man and is totally out of her comfort zone. The enticing riveting story of how they work towards their HEA ending will keep you turning the pages to see how their story ends. This series will rank as one of my favorite all time book series. CA Szarek is a true story teller of epic proportions and should not be missed.
This is another great story in the Crossing Forces series. This is fast paced, and action packed, I couldn’t put it down. There is something for everyone in this book to enjoy from plenty of action, suspense, and romance. This book can be read as a stand alone, though might be better enjoyed by reading Collision Control (book 4) first. These characters were seen together briefly in that book. I am looking forward to reading what happens next.
I have read four of the five in this series and I think this one is my favorite. Way to Go!, C. A. Szarek. The story flowed smoothly from the last book. Superior Collision is a fantastic story that has a variety of elements. It is funny, has lots of action, and steamy romance. I didn't want to put down from the moment I turned the first page. I would recommend this book.
I've read all the books in the Crossing Forces Series. No 2 books were alike. Just like the other books there was plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. The main characters were awesome. This book definitely was an emotional roller coaster. I shed more then a few tears. It was an easy read.
Wow! This one might rank up at the top of my favorites list, and I didn't think anything could tie with Andi & Cole ' s story. Fantastic story, funny, steamy, suspense, great supporting characters - I was completely sucked in and couldn't stop turning page after page! I absolutely love Taylor and Shannon!!
I absolutely love this series. It’s one of my favourite series out there and this author knows how to with this genre spectacularly and does it so well that she has me coming back for more each time she brings out a new book. This book has it all, action, adventure and intrigue with superb romance too. I especially love the characters, they really grabbed me from page one and didn’t let go even when I had finished the book. They really stuck with me they are that fantastic. They have awesome romance and chemistry between them, and their interactions throughout the story really made this one spectacular book to read. I even loved the secondary characters as well. Can’t wait for the next book out in this series and I would definitely recommend this book and series to everyone. As well as this amazing and talented author too.
C.A. Szarek has an enviable knack for taking control of a your attention and not letting go until the last page. Her heroines are filled to the brim with attitude and are so real that you feel like you know them. A great read!
