Beauty and the Beast

Rate this book
“Let me tell you one thing, if your Prince ever returns, watch his back. There are thousands who would gladly throw daggers at it.”
And Belle would be first in line.

Ten years ago, he was Prince Aiden, heir of Jereena, at the top of the world – now, they call him Beast.
Aiden has landed on his feet, his exclusive club is the place to be, he makes hundreds of thousands a night.
What else could he possibly want?

Belle grew up during the Anarchy, and the corrupted system screwed her, big time, but she managed to get by.
Then, her stupid brother goes and steals from the Beast, who demands her as payment.
Well, her, a pile of cash, or her sister – option two and three aren’t acceptable.

Yeah....Uhm...

This was by far the worst Beauty & the Beast retelling I've ever read. It was so bizzare and beyond godawful I legit read it in 1 h. I was fascinted by the #Ihavenowordsforthisfuckery.

Spoiler alert!!!

I mean, a blue looking Casino/brothel owner Beast/cursed Prince and a wallet stealer, martial arts master orphan Belle/demigoddess.
description

On top of that the H has two sex scenes with OW. One at the opening scene and one where the h is in the next room listening to his sexapade. He has one quickie with the h at the end.
description

I give 1* for originality and for me reading a book out of order!

Really enjoyed this story, and the characters. Belle was great, and not the prim princess she's often portrayed as. My issue isn't so much the H banging one of his employees in detail as the book opened (not necessary), but him banging a different employee after he meets the h, because he's turned on from the h. Just like you don't want to hear about a guy you like getting with someone else, you don't want you book boyfriend to get with anyone but the h in detail. I really love this author, and she'd be great to recommend to the rest of the safety gang if it weren't for those scenes.

I can see why so many people DNF this book very early and I came close to being one of them.

This is a beauty and the beast retelling that starts off with a couple of very X-rated scenes that threw me off completely and, since the book is pretty short, I never quite managed to get into it.

It has quite a few interesting aspects, including the Beast's well... beastliness, and a tough heroine that can hold her own, but apart from the needlessly graphic scenes, they went from insta-lust and an adversarial relationship, to love in the blink of an eye, without giving me a chance to catch up.

The beauty and the beast trope is one of my favorites, but I felt no warm and fuzzies from this retelling unfortunately, and although I like some of the ideas behind the retellings in this series, the execution leaves me unsatisfied.

The series continues with The Snow Queen, but I am not sure if I'll ever read it given that the odds of it disappointing me like its two predecessors are quite good...

Everyone is afraid of the Beast, everyone except for Belle. When Belle's hacker brother "accidentally on purpose" steals from the Beast, the Beast makes demands. When Belle discovers what her brother has done, she offers the Beast an offer he cannot refuse. Both Belle and the Beast hide behind their facades but reveal themselves to each other. Can the Beast tempt Belle to fall in love or will she leave as soon as she's paid off her brother's debt?

I freaking LOVED this story! I shouldn't be surprised because, in my humble opinion, May Sage is incapable of writing anything bad. The story is seductive, intoxicating and HOT! I couldn't read it fast enough. The ending... oh my! Talk about an ending to end all endings. Highly recommend!

I finished the book in a couple of hours at night. It isn't necessarily that the book was bad. It was just a plain story to pass your time. There were some funny parts and some rather intriguing too and I honestly enjoyed the details about the homeless people and the poverty. But the book felt rushed like the author got bored and hurried the ending. If the pace in the end was slower with more information, narration and details it would probably earn another star (if I felt generous enough! 😊) But overall I feel that the story lacked quality which verified the rumors about Amazon and freebies.

If you thought that you knew the story of Beauty and The Beast, might I suggest that you think again?

The Beast (aka Aiden Archer) is currently holed up in a brothel/club.... HIS brothel/club ... Not what you expected... Right? Not what I expected either. Now, before you get too upset, this is not a sleezy story.... Just saying... All the girls who work in The Beast's club are there by choice and they are earning a very good living. They are in no way the focus of this tale.

The Beast is cursed, as we all know, although there is a slightly different reason given in this version than the original story. If I had the power to curse someone for what he did, I probably would too :D So for 10 years he has lived his life as a less than attractive person/being and tried to keep as far from his old life as possible. In walks Benjamin Thornton.... Ben has been a very bad boy. He thought it might be fun to steal one hundred thousand dollars from The Beast. Dumb move Ben. The Beast doesn't really care so much about the money, he has plenty of it and makes it hand over fist every single day.... It's just that you never wish to appear weak in the eyes of possible enemies, so Ben must be found and he must be punished or he must repay the money. This is where it all begins to go a pear shaped for The Beast. Ben is found and The Beast threatens to take both of Ben's sisters if the debt isn't repaid. They come to an arrangement and Ben is sent on his way.

When Sibelle Thornton discovers her brother's stupidity, she takes it upon herself to go to The Beast and offer to pay her brother's debt.... And I don't mean in cash... In part, her idea is to try and teach her brother a lesson. She wants him to curb his thieving habits so he doesn't get himself into serious trouble, or conversely, end up dead. Sibelle feels that she has never really fit in with her brother and sister, that there is something very different about her perhaps even abnormal. She doesn't want anything bad to happen to either of them, so feels that sacrificing herself is the only correct action to take. As a consequence, she and The Beast make a deal that they feel will satisfy both their needs. Now don't get the wrong idea... Young Belle is no damsel in distress. She could likely drop any one of us on our butts and barely break a sweat. I'm just saying, the lass has some mad skills, which she will require later on in the story :D

I'm sorry to tell you that that is all that you are going to pry from me. If you want to know about the arrangement and how it all plays out, you will just have to read it for yourself. Suffice it to say ... Many things/people are not what they appear to be.

In spite of the fact that there were a few small flow issues for me, this was a very solid, very different version of my favourite fairy tale. I'm glad I read it and look forward to reading more from May Sage.

This story, which is bundled with other B&B stories, is actually the third in a series. It definitely read like one. I was lost a number of times and didn't get many of the inside jokes (if they were meant to be such). That's my first/main issue.

Then, the writing, which is stilted. Or, the writer's style is something I didn't appreciate and it took me out of the story many times. A shame, really, because B&B is an absolute favourite theme and I couldn't find enjoyment in this one.

And, I still don't know/can't figure out *what* exactly Sibelle is. She is not human, for sure. But offspring of gods? Half goddess? A bit farfetched for me it is. Bottom line: I am not interested to find out beyond this story. Aiden as the beast/prince is not unforgettable either.

Finally, all the "As" (Aiden Archer, King Armand, Adler the dog, Aurora...) started to grate on my nerves after a while.

2* (1* added because it's a B&B story after all!)

Wonderful story. Non-existent proofreading.

I really love these tales - the revised storyline, the way the characters are reshaped, the little hints and clues of the magic behind the scenes in these neighbouring Kingdoms. This is such a fabulous series but sweet mother even with all that goodness, or maybe especially because of it, when the King suddenly goes from being called Armand to Adrian, when words seemed to have been typed so fast they're out of order and nobody bothered to re-read before hitting publish.... well it interrupts the flow. Little things like it's 'plaited' not 'plated' really take away from what could be a truly fabulous book. If you want, I volunteer to be your proofreader. Ms Sage your books are good, really good but the lack of proper editing and proofing are letting you down.

I think this book was better than the first book.

Well you may call me biased but Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite fairy tale theme XD

- I don't know where to begin I literally liked everything about it, how they initially met and how they settled on an understanding, how she moved in with him, how they started to get to know each other, how they got more and more involved in the other's life

All of these and more pulled me toward the book.

- Oh yeah, and let's not forget the action that happens there and how the heroine can kick ass XD

Overall, *thumbs up*

I loved it as much as I did the first time I read it! My only complaint is that it feels a bit incomplete and left too many things without an answer! Like, what happened to Lucia to lost her leg? What happened to their parents? What's Carabas and who's the girl with Ben?? And where did the puss came from?

This was a slightly different take on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. In this version, Belle is a take charge woman who is not going to be pushed around by anyone, least of all the Beast. When Belle's brother mistakenly steals from the Beast, she decides to take on the debt by surrendering herself to his keeping. Not necessarily to save her brother, but to teach him a lesson. If you're familiar with the fairy tale you will find some similarities, but don't expect the same old romance of the fairy tale. May Sage has a whole different take on it!

I'll start by stating that I have not read the previous books in the series, nor have I read anything by this author before. While the book had its mistakes (some of it I'm not a fan of even in really well-written books), I still managed to enjoy it. I would've loved it if it had had more editing and more details about the plot, the background and how Belle and Beast came to care for one another, but I still managed to actually like it. Had more work put into it, I could've grown to really love the story as I felt that it had some promise to be a magnificent story.

I wasn't expecting the "beast" from the first line to be hooking up with someone else in the club and then doing it again and not with the main female of the story later on. Extremely disappointed in how this story was written. At least it was a quick read for me. I didn't feel like I was immersed into the book with it's characters but instead way out in the distance as something a bit more detached. I didn't connect or feel attached to any of the characters though which is just sad. Overall, I wished it had been a better told storyline for their own take on a classic fairy tale.

Good but felt I was missing some plot points

I liked this book but I felt I was missing a lot of plot points. The description said it was a standalone within a group of books. But I feel like maybe I really needed to read all the other books first because I was pretty confused about the "world" the book was set in. The magic, the gods/goddesses, the city names etc were all things I didn't understand or feel had been explained to the reader.

In saying that, the writing was quite good. A few grammatical errors but nothing huge. I think the characters and the relationship between Belle and Beast could have been better developed.

Overall quite good, but maybe look into reading the other books first.

This was a sexy, enjoyable version of The Beauty and the Beast. Prince Aiden, heir of Jereena, has been cursed and is now the Beast, owner of a brothel. Belle's brother stole from the Beast, and has to either repay the money or give the Beast one of his sisters. Belle is not about to let anything happen to her brother or sister, so she presents herself to the Beast. This was a great version and it was a very quick read. It is a stand alone book, though it is also part of a series of fairy tale retellings.

Just awful

It was so confusing! So many questions left unanswered and chapters that were difficult to read. She just rushes through it to fast and nothing gets explained. Don't read you will be disappointed!

Right - there are 2 love scenes - one of them is not with the heroine - he banged someone next to her room and she could hear everything - yeah so romantic. Then you have to wait near the end of the book for one quite quick scene of hurried action.

The story was choppy and times and I'm not sure the author's voice is for me. Also, needed a better proofread. However, it gets an extra star for making me laugh a couple of times and using the beauty and the beast trope.

This was a hot mess that needed a lot more editing. Also more showing, not telling. I could have done without the slut-shaming or the reducing everything to Belle's attractiveness.

When Sibelle Thornton's brother Ben steals from the Beast, the Beast gives him two options. Give the Beast back seven times the money he originally stole, or give one of his sisters to the Beast for his own pleasure. Ben scrambles to raise the money, but Sibelle takes the decision out of his hands and goes to the Beast herself.

The Beast runs the Nest, a gaming hell/brothel/club for the wealthy in Jereena. He takes his pleasures there whenever he wants. But when Belle shows up, infinitely beautiful and badass, he's finally faced with a woman he can't have.

I love a good Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I was really happy to find this steamy one. Belle was awesome, anything but the prim and proper Disney princess. The world was interesting and I really wanted to know more about the kingdoms and the magic only hinted at in the story. I guess I'll always love the fantasy more than the romance.

******SPOILERS******
I think that if the world were more fleshed out and this was a full length book, it would have been amazing. The most interesting parts, including Belle's mysterious healing and strength, were glossed over and never fully explained. I also had a problem with the fact that . There were a few inconsistencies (like Belle can miraculously heal overnight but her muscles are sore after an unconscious night) and an editing or grammar error on every other page. I'm still giving this one four stars because I've already read it twice, and I'll be reading it again soon.

Another book for my The Beauty and the Beast list.

A mix of fantasy and modern times. There is the fictional country called Jereena that has entered the Age of Anarchy since the prince gave up his royal duties and went to live his own life.
Prince Aiden's life was total debauchery, so much so that he had a sex club called Nest.

Aiden's appearance frightened people. He was unusually tall, with very white skin, no hair. His gaze could kill a man with fear. He had no friends, but his employees were loyal to him.

He feared nothing, and he didn't care about anyone either. And when someone crossed his path, he did everything possible to destroy the person.

When hacker Benjamin Thornton was caught after stealing Beast's money, his punishment would be to bring seven times as much as he stole in a very short time, or the Beast would take one of his sisters.

Well, Beast didn't have to go that far, because Sibelle - Belle - offered hersef to stay at Beast's mansion until the money was paid.

Despite what might appear, at no time was it said that she would be his sex slave, so Belle showed her best brave face and stayed with him, on the condition that when her brother came to try to reverse the situation, Beast wouldn't accept it, and let him think Belle and Beast were already lovers.

While living in the mansion, and knowing what Nest offered to anyone who could afford the lust, she also discovered Beast's real identity, and decided to show him what happened to his kingdom because of his selfishness in abandoning everything.
Belle became Aiden's consciousness and changes began to take place as if a spell were broken.

In the erotic version of “Beauty and the Beast,” the Beast is the owner of a high end club in the Europa county of Jereena called the Nest. At the Nest, those with money can engage in casino games as well as various types of sex acts. When a large sum of money is stolen from the Beast by a Ben, computer hacker, the hacker is quickly found and the Beast gives him two choices: repay his money sevenfold within a month or hand over one of his two sister, Sibelle and Lucia.

When Sibelle and Lucia finds out what Ben has done, Sibelle (or belle as she prefers to be called) is livid. The three siblings grew up poor resorted to thievery to survive. Now as adults, Lucia and Belle have turned their lives around by Belle finishing college and working at a public library while Lucia is in her first year of college studying medicine. Although the siblings initially agree to sell their farm, unbeknownst to Ben and Lucia, Belle decides to go to the Beast herself and make a deal to save her family.

When the Beast meets Belle, he is stunned by her beauty, confidence and her lack of fear over his appearance. Once a deal is made between the two of them, they have a flirty relationship. As time passes, Belle helps the Beat to realize that the people of Jereena are suffering due to an depressed king and an absent prince.

Through Belle’s insight, the Beast stops being self focused and returns to his past life. I enjoyed this book and felt it was one of the better retellings of Beauty and the Beast. I like that the female characters are portrayed as confident, strong willed and powerful and that the story has a great amount of romance and action.

A Very Different Version of Beauty and the Beast

This was a quite ingenious version of the classic fairytale. Belle (Beauty) has a brother (Ben) who hacked one of the Beast's accounts, stealing a hundred thousand marks. Of course, he's caught and the Beast demands triple that amount be paid to him or that Ben deliver one of his sisters to him. The Beast operates a high class casino that also offers various sexual pleasures and the implication is that the sister will be used accordingly.

Of course, Ben is unable to pay off the debt, so Belle decides on her own, without her siblings' knowledge, that she would volunteer to go, for reasons she gives in the book.

The first few chapters were somewhat raunchy and I wasn't quite sure if I would continue to read or not. However, I persevered and the next chapters smoothed out into a really interesting story, with some great twists and turns. All in all, it was an excellent book and I will definitely read more by this author in both this series and other series she's written. There was no cliffhanger ending; just a great HEA. Also, there was an epilogue that paved the way for another book featuring a different character.

If you're offended by some foul language and some sex, then you should probably find something else to read. On the other hand, if neither of those bothers you, then I would definitely recommend this book.
