Everyone wants to be able to switch off at the end of a busy day and sleep well, but few of us manage it. The truth is that we are just not equipped for the twenty-first century - it is too fast, too crowded, too 24/7. And the more stressed we become, the harder it is to relax and give our bodies the sleep they need. It doesn't have to be this way! Here is the antidote to a cycle of daily strain and sleepless nights. It is a book of effective mindfulness, EBT and CBT exercises, which can aid you in getting to sleep, staying asleep - as well as feeling refreshed wherever you are and whatever you are doing. This beautiful but practical title draws on a wide range of psychological techniques, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy and emotional brain training - all of them proven to work. The perfect size to keep in a handbag or pocket, this book has been designed as a tool to keep close by, and to turn at any point in a busy day. So, open it up and feel refreshed on the go, even when you don't have the opportunity to sleep.
I think some of the exercises in the book would be worth trying for me . . . a lot of these seem a little funny, but you never know until you try it! It takes me a long time to fall asleep sometimes so I might just try some of these.
One focus of mine for 2023 is to get better at sleep, to understand its nature and how to overcome obstacles to getting a good night's sleep more nights than not. This book has some good ideas to help with that, mostly meditations and visualizations that can quiet the mind, prepare for sleeping and for returning to sleep if awakened mid night.
I especially like the forgiving nature of the counsel offered, removing a sense of failure if good sleep escapes one and offering possible remedies through easy exercises. It's a great little book to keep by the bedside.
Bought at a Half-Price Books during a bout of insomnia. Many of these are sound, but a bit too "Woo Woo" for me. Some of its just good advice and others are though or visualization exercises to calm down. The problem is not all of them seem to be complementary.
The book covers some sleep strategies, sleep hygiene (bedroom setup/food/To Do Lists), positive affirmatons, CBT, mindfulness based stress reduction, etc with some decent activities.
About half of these exercises, I could see myself trying...some I have already done regularly. Half of these I could never see myself doing. Helpful tips and exercises primarily used to help you unwind and relax for a better restful night's sleep. I like the coloring pages that were included too, although some are too busy for me.
A lot of quick short meditations and tips on how to sleep better for a variety of situations and problems. Doesn't replace the need for medical assistance if that is necessary, but would work along side it. I used several of the techniques, and helped my kids try a number of them too. The power of the mind over the body is awesome. Now it makes for a good reference book.
A quick first aid kit to induce sleep. Full of brief practical guidances accompanied by soothing images. Most tips revolve around visualization and several light physical exercises. We could even randomly open any page and find a wonderful tips. Direct and easy to read and follow. An excellent book to put next to our bed - ready to be grabbed at anytime.
One of the practical book that you can use as reference or self help. As a psychologist myself, it helps me expand and explore another alternative for patients with similar problems. It’s so compact and ready to use. Even some pages offer you coloring pages that you can instantly try.
It’s more way to fixes your sleeplessness - Breath - Exercise - Be there, in present - Imagine for the calmness place - Drink warm milke - Keep your room dark and silence

This book had some great techniques for helping with sleep. It deals mostly with practical habits that promote sleep as well visualizations that help one to fall asleep, stay asleep, deal with waking up and deal stress and other things that get in the way of a good nights sleep.
