It’s been two months since Phillips was killed in front of us. Two months of training and waiting. Time is up and another new recruit is due to arrive any minute; the cousin of the man who betrayed us all. The guys aren’t going to like it, but Jackson has overridden my protests. Just when I didn’t think things could get any worse, my contact with Aunt Beatrice is discovered and my actions have put her in mortal danger. A hit was ordered from a cartel in Mexico. Led by the cousin of Diego Fernando’s widow, the Vega Cartel has a blood debt to settle and they have come to collect. Jordon is becoming more attractive to me by the day; as my feelings for him continue to grow, our situation becomes even more complicated when our connection is discovered by one of the team. Events spiral out of my control, forcing me to face my demons and darkest fears. I find myself teetering on the edge of good and evil, poised to fall. A sinister message has me racing to Mexico, trying to beat the dawn. What I find waiting for me there may spell the end of my life and Steel Corps itself. I must decide; am I hard enough to make this choice? Is my soul a big enough sacrifice for the lives of innocents? There is no question. I am Staff Sergeant Michaels and I am Steel.
I love this series. The plotline and characters are fantastic. I love the action and feel like I'm one of the characters with the vivid descriptions and details that make it lifelike. We all know I'm one who can't resist a strong female protagonist and you know this series has the BEST one. Can't wait for the next one.
*In my previous review, I spoke of editing errors from kindle unlimited. The author is extremely kind and provided me with the most up to date copies that have fixed there errors. I am very thankful for three copies and I'm glad that I love a series with such a kind and dedicated author*
Book 2 in the series, and it follows on directly after book 1. This is by far the better of the first two books. I laughed at some of the antics from Flynn. This book showed more character which was lacking in book1. Bea and Chris still have this cat and mouse act going on, but hopefully book 3 will see that change...a big hopefully. I look forward to book 3 now.
I'm starting to feel the connection and the passion between Mic and Jordan now. Things are starting to heat up between the two. We get an extra special dose of romance with Beatrice and Jackson. I love the way Mic's aunt just kind of orders everyone around and mothers them. It's both hilarious and sweet. It's not all fun and games for Mic and her men though. One of her lose ends has come back to haunt her. She puts herself right in his cross hairs in the hope of saving others and her team has to come to the rescue. Their missions never go as planned though and this one is no different. There are plenty of surprises.
The continuing story of Mic and the Steel boys. Phillips death is affecting them all. They have a new man joining them. Took is more than he seems and it will be an adjustment for them all when they learn who he is. Still needing to take out the remaining threat from the drug cartel in Columbia and Mexico the team runs into one problem after another until finally making it back home. But they will not be safe for long. 4.5/5 very action packed stars
Yet another page turner from JB Heavens. Hardened by Steel picks up at the same explosive pace as Core of Steel and keeps you wanting more. What a story! Every turn of the page has you whispering "Wow," and makes you want even more. Filled with action and adventure, this book is perfect for anyone who love fast paced military thrillers.
Bea is feisty but daringly steps over the line. Jordan and Bea belong together. They need to let it happen. Bea should have know better to go after a killer alone. She is so smart but also can be careless. Nice surprise at the end fo drawing you in to read the next book. Lot of intrigue hanging in the air.
I'm only read the first 2 books & I cannot put them down...
I choose the rating I gave because the books have kept me interested, I've read 2 books in 2 days (or less lol... who's counting when they're this good a read!!) I'm going to start book 3 as soon as I finish this review. I'll be purchasing more books by J.B. Havens 😁 keep the stories rollin'!
When I started this series I knew it would be exciting but this book once I started I couldn't stop until I found out what would happen. And that ending... Well I'm so glad the next book is out

I first read this in the early stages and loved it, I promised to re-read once it had been edited and released. I'm glad I did, this book is amazingly good. The first book introduced us to Mic and the team, getting straight into a mission and training. The ending was a slight shock but you would have to read it to find out why. This second book picks up a little after the end of the first, another new team member, there's a bit more to him than we know at first. you get action almost from the start, the team on a rescue mission. This starts to spiral, its fast paced so no getting bored. Very much a military story so you have guns, explosions, torture as well as the team training. I have trouble picking out what I love most about these books, but I think its the bond that the team have with each other. They know each others strengths and weaknesses, can almost read what's on their minds anticipating the next move each will make. Having a new guy and a fairly new guy doesn't seem to affect that by much, they just slot in like they have always been a part of it only a few minor hick ups. I was as much on the edge of my seat with this re read as I was when I did the early one, there are a few scenes that very tense and almost upsetting. Torture and abuse can be like that its hard reading about any one going through that, but its a part of life in certain areas of military work. There is a little bit of romance in this book which just adds to the story, I cant wait to see where this side of it goes. There is also a lighter side that give us a laugh, one especially had me chuckling. J B has done a fantastic job following through on this second book, after the first I was curious to see if she could match it and she did more than that. This is even better than the first and it also gives a link in to the third, getting you impatient to read that as well just wanting to keep going. I have no hesitation to recommend this series to anyone that likes a military based story with a little romance thrown in
In this second installment of Steel Corps, Mic is tested as a woman, as a warrior and as a female with emotional issues.
Staff Sergeant Michaels, or Mic, as she likes to be called, has to find a way to let love into her life. Being rigid in protocol and tough in front of her men, leaves no room for romance in the life of a Special Unit’s leader. Chris tries very hard to ignore his growing attraction to Mic and Mic tries very hard to ignore her feelings for Chris in the face of her responsibility to her Unit.
The specialized training these soldiers are known for and exhibit with everyday casualness keeps you on your toes to see what is in store for each and every one of this Unit. The human factor is essential in making life or death decisions and dealing with the fallout of those decisions. PTSD is a very real condition that so many suffer from. It is another detail that Mic has to handle amid training her team and carrying out justice in a world of hate and against a breed of men who don’t value human life. I laughed and I cried along with Mic and her journey in her leadership successes and failures. I felt her compassion and love for those she commands and those she cares deeply about. I can’t wait to see what J.B. Havens will throw at Mic and her team next!
I was given a copy of this book by the Author for an honest review. Hardened by Steel (Steel Corps Book 2) is the second book in this series and it delivers a great story. The characters and story line are well-developed. The story follows a secret part of the military that no one knows exists. "Mac" is the leader of this group, and she is recovering from events from book one CORE OF STEEL. They get a new member of the STEEL CORPS to replace a fallen member. There are members of this group that are not happy with their member, because he is the cousin of the one who betrayed them. They will have to get over this prejudice and deal with the case ahead of them. This mission will show how HARDENED BY STEEL they really are. If you love military stories them you will love this one. I loved the characters in this book. If you have not started this series then I urge you to do so. I am putting J.B. Haven on my authors to watch out for list. I will definitely read more books from this author. I give HARDENED BY STEEL 5/5 STARS.
How do I describe this 2nd book in the Steel series? Well, for starters, it continues the ride you began in book 1. And by ride, I mean fast-paced-edge of seat danger-where did that hit come from type of ride. You thought you knew who the players were in book 1. You thought you knew just how much Mic could take. You could guess what was gong to happen with Mic and Jordan. Ha! J.B. fools you completely. The book takes you where you didn't expect to go. You learn more about Mic. And just when you think things are going to heat up, a different sort of excitement happens and you are left wondering now what? I love the introduction of Mic's Aunt and the chemistry between her and Jackson. AS for Rook, well he's not Phillips but I think he is what Steel needs now. I cannot wait for book 3!
Mic is one strong and feisty soldier, I'm sure she got her strength of character from her Aunt. Flynn is hilarious with his antics, Jones and Rook are definitely forces to be reckoned with, Pierce is not only Flynn's best mate but also his shadow. When aunt Beatrice arrived on the scene little did Jackson know that his bachelor days were numbered, hopefully Mic and Jordan get together in future, I believe they would complement each other beautifully. I highly recommend The Steel Corps Series, it's full of action and humour. It'll make you cry and leave you in suspense as to what Steel Corps will have to endure next.

This is book two in the Steel Corps series. It is an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. Still dealing with a members tragic death, the team has been stagnant for a couple months. One day they get a new guy in their team. He is a relative of the one who betrayed them in their last mission. Rook as he likes to be called isn't what or who he seems to be. Mic has a secret she has been hiding for years. The cartel finds out and threatens her only relative. It's Steels job to stop the threat. This is an excellent book, look forward to the next one.
Really not sure how I feel after this book. Conflicting emotions. Story was good Altho a bit gory and almost too much detail. I could hardly read at times that said it shouldn't detract from a great bunch of characters and an obvious twist somewhere coming up. Compelling. Looking forward to reading the next book
5 stars. This is one kickass series. This book starts with the aftermath of the ending in book one. Mic and the team have to protect her aunt from a Mexican drug cartel. This is another action packed book with a strong kickass heroine. I loved the slow burn romance between Mic and Jordan and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommended read
A great second book in this series. A good-looking that kept the reader interested even if you could not believe the stupidity of 'Mic'. Although the end is not a cliff hanger it has ended in such away that you need to read the next book to find out who is hiding in the snow!
The continuing story of Steel Corps and Bea and Chris' attraction to one another is just as good at the first book in the series. Lots of action, intrigue, and reunions.
Another winner! Book 2 in the Steel Corps series - I read this book to narrate it for the audiobook version, available on Audible soon. Book 2 is jam packed with tense and high-stakes operations for the Steel Corp. Mic is walking on a razor's edge to keep her team and her family safe. It was a pleasure to read - I got sucked into the plot as it moves quickly for a wild ride.
